The food is okay 6/10 the atmosphere was nice 9/10 the music was taking over the move atmosphere, had it been Vietnamese music would have made the vibe so much better. This place is very modern very Americanized if you will, it's not authentic in my opinion. The eggrolls were small but good, the broth for the pho was kind of bland, the bowls were super small for the price of $16-$17 a bowl and only one size. The greens were very limp abt not fresh. The noodles weren't cooked enough so they were kind of hard. I mean the place can definitely do a couple things to improve things here but unfortunately at this moment i works give an overall rating of 5/10 there's so many great places in Phoenix that are cheaper and so much better. Ambiance was interesting with mannequins and a boat hanging on the wall, I guess it's supposed to be a modern take on traditional vietnamese theme. Being Christian, I didn't really like the huge statue of Buddha but other than that, everything was neat & clean. Parking is behind the restaurant and the ground does need to be repaved. TL:DR - So many quirks to this place. Everything feels super Americanized version of traditional viet food, but it's still good. Banh mi served on a sub roll, way too much meat and mayo. Pho was not particularly light, meat was too thick, and waay too much noodles. Spring rolls were delicious, but tiny and over priced. The prices are way out of whack. Despite all this, the food is just that good and I will be back. ------------------------------------------------------------------- I really want to give this place 3.5 stars, but with the food quirks and the price, it gets the lower half. But this place literally feels like what would happen if a 2nd generation Vietnamese kid opened up a Vietnamese restaurant. Everything here is based on a traditional Vietnamese dish, but with something that just really makes it not traditional and very American, but the results are delicious none the less. A perfect example is the place serves fries with its sandwiches. I didn't get it but still. My partner and I got the spicy asian spring roll, pork banh mi, and a small bowl of pho. The spring rolls come in quantities of one, and despite what the server told me, they are not small burrito size. They are legitimately 1.5 times the size of a normal spring roll. The spicy asian spring roll was delicious, however. There was a good piece of lobster and it tasted very fresh. The pork banh mi was also delicious but FAR from traditional and very Americanized. The pork itself had a really good flavor and almost candied but the roll/bread was HUGE. It felt like a sub roll rather than the smaller traditional french baguette that typically comes with the banh mi. In addition, it was served with a HEALTHY serving of mayo and no pate. There was also literally less than 8 total shreds of pickled daikon and carrots in the sandwich. I had to ask for extra. So to sum up the banh mi, huge sub roll, little to no pickled veggies, heavy mayo, and a disproportionate amount of pork. This legit was felt like an American sub sandwich. I got the side salad, which was pretty standard. The dressing was delicious, however. It was like a honey lemon vinaigrette. The pho on the other hand again felt like a 2nd generation individual made it. The broth itself was super delicious, not as light as traditional pho, but still delicious. We got the smaller bowl, which was perfect size, but the actual amount of noodles in there was comically too much for the amount of soup you get. In addition, the meat was cut pretty thick. Almost like thin beef jerky rather than thinly sliced rib eye. This resulted in rather tough/chewy pho meat. The other issue I have is the pricing. $6 for a single spring roll, $12 for a small bowl of pho, and $13 for banh mi is entirely way too much. Prices should be about 2/3 of that to really be in line with other spots. With all the gripes I have about this place, I will still be back. Despite how expensive it is, how untraditional it is, the food is still really good. I just won't be back as often as I would be if it was cheaper. read more

I've driven past Rice Paper on 7th a million times and have always been intrigued. It's located on 7th (obviously) in one of the cool historic, brick built homes. The restaurant has exposed brick inside and appears to have more a pub type look than Asian restaurant. But don't let the interior fool you. The food is phenomenal. We ordered edamame and garlic noodles for apps. The garlic noodles were the highlight. For entrees we split a few rolls, which were all very tasty. The filet Mingon dish was tasty as well, but tiny. Plus the spring roll was mostly vermicelli noodle and no one really liked their dishes. Pho had hardly any noodles and was bland broth.
