My company has been using them for years. Today I picked up my truck. It will be my last time. Disorganized , throw my spare in back of truck and not put back. Asked to keep my old tire need for a case did not do that and charge me for disposal and they finally found tire. Yes it was explained why i needed it tire three days ago. I'm new to the area and bought new tires from them. I was very pleased with both service and price. Since then they have helped me with air in my tires and a tire rotation. Staff are friendly and responsive. I use a walker and the entrance is a challenging but there has always been someone to hold the door for me and make sure I get in OK. The experience is everything you expect from a local place. They do operate by appointment so they may not be able to help a walk in so I suggest you call first. read more

I had the worst experience at this place. On the way to work my car was acting up so I pulled into Rice Tire. Not helpful at all! The owner kept overlooking me and meeting and greeting others after I arrived. Good ol' boy network. Finally, I left and drove to Precision Tune in Culpeper. They were the BEST! I stopped by at 4:30 on a Friday, I had a nail in one of my tires. I asked if they could help me but I was politely told that they were too busy and had jobs to finish. I was the only customer in the store, and I was really in a bind. Very disappointed that a service- oriented business could not find 5 minutes to plug a leak, from this experience alone I would never go there again and will advise friends to do the same. I cannot thank Chris and all of the techs at Rice Tire enough. My wife and I had a tire that split a belt on our Winnebago while on a road trip. Not only was it on Columbus day but, I didn't limp into their shop till 4:15 in the afternoon. I'm actually a Ford Senior Master tech and, I pretty much refuse to pay for any kind of mechanical work that I can do myself. They absolutely went over and above my expectations. We've been customers of this location since we first moved here back in 1997. Back then it was owned/known as "Rosson & Troilo" but was bought by "Rice Tire" in 2006. Luckily, nothing really seemed to change re: any of the staff, quality of service, etc., etc., & we've been MORE than pleased (obviously - since we've been customers for so long). Appointments & estimated time frames for service have always been honored; diagnoses have been correct; prices are reasonable; no funny business as to how you also need "yadayadayada big $$$$ repairs" in addition to what you asked for; honestly admit when the problem is something they can't help with, along with suggestions re: where you can find help for the problem; always friendly & upbeat staff; & waiting area is always clean. Recommend you be very circumspect regarding any upselling done by this shop. More than once I was sure they were scamming when they recommended service that was frivolous and unnecessary. Once I was charged $100 for replacement of a tire pressure sensor that sells in auto parts stores for under $10. Suggest you refuse any such upsells and take your car somewhere else for another opinion. read more

I've taken my car here three times for various not-so-major maintenance issues (brakes, bearings and inoperable automatic window) and each time I've driven away happy. Unlike so many other auto repair shops, you don't need to worry about them "finding" other issues with your vehicle in areas that have nothing to do with your current repair. If you drop your car off to get a brake job, you won't get one of THOSE phone calls. You know the one I'm talking about... "Your brakes are done. However, when we opened up your transmission, we noticed that your valve body should be replaced." No. Unless there's another issue that pertains to the area you've asked them to focus on or something blatantly obvious (I'm sure if you go in to get your alignment checked and your radiator is leaking antifreeze all over the place, they'd tell you), they do not try to upsell you at all. They are trustworthy and very friendly. The manager, David, has gone so far as to explain to me the reasons for the repairs and why they were needed. For a person that's as mechanically un-inclined as myself, it's greatly appreciated as it educates me on how to avoid the same repairs in the future. My sister, baby niece and I were heading out on a weekend getaway. Around 40 minutes into the drive my sister's engine was overheating. We found Rice Tire nearby, thankfully. At first they said they would not be able to fit us in until Monday (it was Friday afternoon), which is understandable given their busy schedule and us showing up out of the blue. However, when we were outside trying to figure out next steps, an incredibly kind and helpful employee came out and said that he would would take a look at the car. He determined the issue and had his coworker take care of it. We were there in total for about 2 hours and we are so grateful that they found the issue and fixed it for us on no notice. They also told us about a couple smaller issues in the car for my sister to address in the future. During this whole process they were very kind and patient. We are so appreciative of their help and so happy we could take our weekend trip. read more

We have been coming to Rice Tire for a few years now. I have purchased my tires there and had some general maintenance done on some of our vehicles. Never had any problems. I recently bought a 2002 Jeep Wrangler, which as you can guess had some issues after purchasing it. Todd and the team at Rice Tire have been great. I can usually call them up to get a quote when something is wrong. They have spent additional time diagnosing issues without charging me extra. I find their quotes align with what I would expect to pay and they often are cheaper than some other shops in town. They are upfront about the cost of parts and labor, which is appreciated. I never feel like they are trying to force me to do anything. I had the power steering pump replaced on the Jeep by Rice Tire after getting a ridiculous quote from another shop in town, who quoted me $860 for a power steering pump, that was less than $200 online. I have heard from Culpeper locals that Rice Tire is one of the pricier shops in town, but I have not seen that to be the case. read more

Went there to have my brakes changed. Shortly I received a call that they had broken off a cylinder and told me that it would be an additional $100 to replace the part. When I asked how it was broken I was told that underneath my car had rusted and the guy broke it taking it off. I drive a 2011 Altima. Rust really?? While driving off the lot my brakes squeaked. I thought after a few weeks it would stop, however, they continued to squeak so after a month I returned to Rice to have them check it out. I was told by the Manager, that "this is how "new" brakes perform". And that if I wanted them to check them out it would cost me the labor time to do so. So I declined. After 2 more months and still squeaky brakes, I, again returned to Rice Tire and told them something had to be wrong with the brakes. They reminded me that this is the way new brakes perform and there was nothing they could do. Shortly thereafter I attended a walk thru at Continental - all to do about brakes - right? they laughed at the story given to me by the Manager at Rice Tire and said new brakes do not squeak. A friend suggested maybe they needed grease. Upon him taking the tires off my car he found that, in fact, my brakes were NEVER changed. They were worn completely down. So what happened to my new expensive - top of the line brakes? Unfortunately I did not know, until months later, that my friend actually bought me brakes and changed them. When I called the Manager at Rice he informed me that because I bought brakes from Fisher- they should refund my money. That Fisher actually does sell bad parts from time to time. How can you blame this on Fisher I asked. He said "when you don not buy the parts from us this is what happens". REALLY - Don't YOU buy your parts from Fisher? What a JOKE this place is! highly disappointed and quite frankly surprised they are still in business! DON'T go there EVER! Bottom line... not one time did this "so called" Manager apologize to me. He was rude,curt and arrogant on each dealing I had with him. read more

My front tire blew out on the way home in Fauquier County. They sent Richard with his mobile unit. He showed up quickly, brought new front tires, replaces both front tires ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, for God's sake, and I was on my way in about 90 minutes. It take 30 minutes to drive to Brandy Station. Richard was fast, organized, knowledgeable, efficient, skilled and offered me a Coke. Who knew there was a flat tire fairy in our area! read more

What a waste of time. Waited two hours to get my tires done and they still couldn't do them. Better off going somewhere else.

I recently had my motorhome inspected there. They charged me $51 which is the price for a commercial truck. The Va State Code on inspections clearly states all vehicles to include motorhomes and trailers are $16 for state safety inspection. I called back and brought this to the attention of the person who answered the phone. He stated if it's over 30,000 pounds it's $51. Incorrect, that's only for commercial vehicles. I spoke to the manager and he refunded my money. The guy who did the inspection was great, and nice to talk to. Just kind of bothered me that I was initially over charged. They should know how to charge vehicles they inspect. Since they corrected the problem, I would return again for an inspection, but thought I would share so no one else who don't know is over charged. read more

Was told by a good horse riding friend that Rice Tire in Brandy Station is the place to go for all your car and truck needs. Tried them for the 1st time last week for new tires and state inspection for horse trailer. The whole experience was the BEST--came in without appointment and they took me in right away. Got great service from the front counter person--gave me good deal for my trailer tires that can be very pricey. Got to meet the Tire tech that worked on my trailer and the inspector that went over my trailer with a fine tooth comb--(which I love---because I want to know about any issues that me cause me to break down with my horse in tow). GREAT SERVICE,GOOD PRICES AND VERY FAST--could not have been a better experience. Thank you Rice Tire and will be coming back very soon. read more
