I immediately saw my general dentist, who recommended that the tooth be extracted and replaced with an implant. As you can imagine, I was extremely nervous and anxious about the idea of oral surgery. I reached out to Dr. Sam Vahedi's office, and from the very first interaction, they were incredibly accommodating and professional. They understood the urgency of my situation and scheduled me promptly, which immediately helped put me at ease. The moment I walked into the office and met Dr. Vahedi, I felt calm and reassured. He has a very confident yet kind demeanor that instantly builds trust. They performed a CT scan, and Dr. Vahedi took the time to thoroughly explain exactly what was going on and what the plan would be. He explained that the first step would be extracting the broken tooth, which had three roots. During the procedure, he carefully numbed the area. There was only minimal discomfort with the numbing, and after that, I truly did not feel any pain at all. I could feel some pressure and hear some crunching, but there was absolutely no pain. Throughout the entire process, I felt completely confident in Dr. Vahedi's technical expertise and knowledge. It was clear that I was in very capable hands, and sure enough, he did a magnificent job. His assistant, Heidi, was also wonderful--very attentive, reassuring, and kind. I was so relaxed during the procedure that they actually thought I had fallen asleep! That alone speaks volumes about how comfortable and stress-free the experience was. I will be returning in several months for the next steps of my implant process, and I am extremely grateful that Dr. Sam Vahedi is my oral surgeon. My encounter with Pearl dental was brought about by a dental emergency while visiting LA when a…read morecrown came loose and fell out in my mouth. The crown was intact. My daughter called Pearl Dental and we asked if they could temporarily cement a crown back onto my tooth. The receptionist said yes, they could do that. She forwarded me some papers to fill out and a message that said, "... the fee for your upcoming appointment with us is $88. If you have any questions, please call us...." I thought that was a very reasonable price to have my crown cemented back on. The next morning, when I arrived at the dental office, I discussed paying the fee before I saw the dentist and in fact I paid the fee. I was taken into the examination room and was told I was going to have x-rays. I told them I did not need x-rays. They insisted this was part of the procedure. They took my blood pressure. I felt that was overkill. Finally the dentist came in to the room to discuss his thoughts about permanently fixing the crown. I reminded him that I just came to have the crown cemented temporarily onto the tooth. He insisted it was not safe. I could aspirate The tooth if it fell off. I insisted that I just wanted the tooth cemented on. He then told me that it would be the same price to put the tooth back on as it would be to replace the crown. I had no idea what he was talking about because I had already paid the fee that they quoted me over the phone and by text message. The dentist told me someone would be in shortly to discuss what had to be done. The young woman from the front desk came in with a paper with a diagram and some information about the procedure. She said it would cost $300. I got up from the chair, took off the napkin from around my neck, collected my crown and left the examination room. I complained to the receptionist that it was a very underhanded tactic to quote a price for something I was very specific about but then once I was sitting in the chair a whole other agenda was in play. I was mislead. It was very dishonest of the team at Pearl Dental to quote me a price and once I was there, once I paid the quoted price, they completely disregarded what I was there for. They attempted to railroad me into a procedure I never asked for. Apparently the 88.00 was a consult fee! That was NEVER mentioned over the phone nor was it explained to me when I paid the fee in advance of being attended to. In my opinion this is a very deceptive business practice and I advise anyone who uses this dental office to be very careful. I don't even think they rate 1 star.

The procedure itself was painless & once the swelling went down, everything looked perfect. The price was also more than reasonable compared to other periodontists who do more traditional gum grafts. I've also been coming here for routine cleanings with Ava, and she's amazing! She always creates a welcoming and comfortable experience. I have never left a negative review before and always give places the benefit of the doubt and even…read moreinitially gave this place five stars the first time I came but I have been immensely frustrated by the people who work the front desk/reception at Fuller Smiles Santa Monica. I developed an extremely painful, very swollen, pus-filled dental abscess late last month, and called Fuller Smiles to see if they could have me come in that day to have it get evaluated or drained. I was told by the receptionist that no one could see me same day, and since it was a Friday I could check back on Monday. The abscess was swollen and painful and if left untreated can cause more infection, loss of the tooth, and sepsis, and I pointedly asked the receptionist so I can't be seen even if it's an abscess and a dental emergency? To which the receptionist replied no and asked me to check back three days later when they're open again on Monday. Of course, I found a different facility and got it drained that day and was confirmed by the other dentist of the abscess. I then went back to this Fuller Smiles a few days later to get it evaluated by Dr. Katie, my usual dentist, and she did a CT scan for me and referred me to an endodontist. I called the receptionist at Fuller Smiles today and asked if the results of my CT scan could be sent to the endodontist or to myself to show the endodontist so they could get a complete picture of what's going on. The receptionist then tried to tell me I didn't get a CT scan done, when I know I did because I was literally in the machine getting it done a few weeks ago. I then told her the date of the test and she found the record but then told me she couldn't send it over to me because of software issues, even though it is my legal right to get a copy of my imaging tests. I asked her how the endodontist would be able to evaluate me then without having my test results and she basically told me to get another repeat CT scan done there, without any regard to any unnecessary radiation exposure that would mean or if insurance would cover it. Overall I thought the dentists here were great, but Jackie at the front desk was very unsympathetic and unhelpful, and I am considering taking my business elsewhere just so I don't have to deal with her anymore.
