Great service, great location, nice views too while getting dental work done.

I'll start this off by saying that I never complained to the dentist's office about my issues but since I used the service I feel I can still write a review. A mom in my local Facebook moms groups recommended this office to me. I was looking for something close and convenient, which was. There is easy (paid) parking and I believe the office does validate. The waiting room is clean and inviting and there was virtually no wait. All staff was very friendly. My chief complaint was hot/cold sensitivity in one of my wisdom teeth. They asked a few questions, did X-rays then told me I had a cavity. Unfortunately my insurance only covered silver filling, but since this office only does white fillings I had to either go to another dentist (but still pay for the X-rays) or just continue here. I decided to just stay because I didn't know if this was a policy for other dentist and I didn't want to have to pay for X-rays twice. They told me what tooth had the cavity and processed to numb me. I waited a bit then the dentist Dr. Bradley began drilling. OUCH!! Not numb. He used the needle again. Waited a few minutes and tried again. OUCH!! Not numb again. This happened at least one more time and the doctor commented that his was 3x the normal dose and asked if I ever needed that much. The answer was no. I've never felt pain after the first shot. I was numb for the next few hours. Upon checking out, my bill was an astounding $260 ish (100 being a co/pay) I have great insurance and just did not expect to pay that much. The receptionist told me that this was an estimate and once the paperwork went through the insurance I would probably get a refund. I go home and wait for the for medication to wear off. The next day I still had the original pain! My problem was not solved after I endured pain and paid so much. I was just so disappointed and also too busy to call and complain and didn't really want to go back after my first experience so did nothing about it and was too traumatized to see another dentist. Months later I am still suffering the pain. A couple of months later I remembered that the receptionist said she would let me know if I had a refund. No one ever called me and I had moved so I figured maybe they sent something to my old address. I called to see if I owed money but they told me I did in fact have a refund. I was annoyed because they never contacted me about it. She asked if I wanted to make an appointment for a cleaning and I started to tell her the whole story and asked if the office had another dentist, but they don't so I asked for my refund and passed on the cleaning. There were great things about this office but the pain and not calling me about the refund are the reason I would not go back nor recommend the place. read more

I hadn't been to the dentist in a long time and was honestly a big anxious to go. I was really worried that I had a few caveties since it's been so long. The appointment was easy to book, when I arrived the receptionist was very friendly. I only waited about 10 minutes, then the hygenist took me back. She was one of the best I've ever been too, professional but friendly at the same time. She answered all my questions about how to clean my teeth and even taught me how to floss properly, in a way that doesn't hurt! Dr. Matthew met with me after the assistant took x-rays and went over the health of my teeth. I did need 1 filling and he took care of it very quickly, he made sure to numb my gum with the gel before using a needle which helped a lot with the pain. He is professional and thorough. Dr. Matthew and his staff wowed me from the moment I walked in the door! The staff was super friendly and welcoming. They talked to me while I waited and were very efficient in getting my paperwork processed and me in the chair. Deanna cleaned my teeth and she was very friendly and talkative which kept me engaged in the process and the cleaning flew right by! It was difficult to keep from laughing during my cleaning and XRays with all the fun going on! Aside from being an upbeat and friendly office, they are all professional, knowledgeable, and go out of their way to make your experience the best you have ever had. I mean - who wants to deal with insurance? I literally didn't have to do anything. I just told them my insurance provider and sat back and relaxed. Dr. Matthew was very attentive and really listened to my concerns. I was rambling off a laundry list of concerns and services I wanted and he really put me at ease. He assured me we would take care of all of it one step at a time while providing me many cost effective options to accomplish what I wanted. If you are looking for a new dentist, I don't care where you live... this is worth the drive from anywhere. I have recommended Dr. Matthew and his staff to all of my friends! Let me start by sharing my truth: I AM A BIG OL' DENTAL-WORK COWARD. So, naturally why my tooth started hurting 6 months ago, I did what any reasonable American would do ...I hoped it would "magically disappear." That's good logic, right? Fast forward to the end of July and The Pandemic is STILL raging and my toothache has decided to do quite a bit of raging on its own. It would not be denied! So, after a week of investing heavily over-the-counter 20% benzocaine cocktails, my river of denial had run dry and I called Dr. Matthew. I was able to get a same-day appt. Good News! I needed a root canal! I know what you're thinking, "What manner of masochist would be excited about a root canal???" This gal! Not happy about the dental work, per se. (To reiterate, I'm terrified of the dentist.) Dr. Matthew clearly explained everything to in layman's terms. I felt quite comfortable during the procedure. In short, I was well taken care of. I called my dentist in a panic last night after chipping my front tooth during dinner on my salad fork. I left several messages and called all morning to no answer. I searched yelp and found the amazing reviews about Dr. Matthew, Deana, and Glenda, and decided to call. Glenda immediately put me at ease, letting me know they had a cancellation and could see me immediately. I gave her my insurance information and she called to find out the extent of my coverage while I was driving over. It was difficult to find (I even had to call them - I have private insurance and it's difficult to get answers sometimes), but she found out I have PPO and I'm covered. She even helped me with some of the charges until the insurance reimbursement. Deana and Dr. Matthew were also phenomenal and so incredibly personable. They listened when I had requested and exceeded every expectation. Not to mention, they validate your parking in the garage and have gorgeous views - loved watching the planes come in, the stadium, and the slope of the land up to Ladera Heights and Kenneth Hahn. I was recommended to see this dentist by a friend. On visit the hygienist and dentist are very good and do a great job. Prior to attending I sent in my insurance card which I was advised by the front desk that they take my insurance but did not express that there's a difference between taking insurance and being in and out of network. Unfortunately they were not in my network and never shared these details until at least 1,000$ later. I would hope a business would have the integrity to advise a patient of this prior to taking them to the bank. Its unfortunate but I will longer give business to this office. read more

I made an apmt after Stephanie assured me that they accept my dental insurance plan. I made the mistake of not asking "are you considered in-network". But based on my question, it was obvious what I was asking. It was not until the next day that I thought to independently verify with my dental insurance provider that Dr. Matthews is indeed listed; and the answer was "no". So I called Dr. Matthews office again, speaking with Glenda. I asked "Do you accept (my) dental insurance", just to see what she would say. She said "yes". It was only after when I specifically asked: Are you considered "in-network", where Glenda finally admitted they were not. She started saying that she's sure that the amount of money I would be paying would still be pretty close and a 10% discount would apply (huh?). Insurance companies punish you for going out of network. Out of net work providers are only covered 40-50% of what the insurance company considers "usual and customary" (and not what is actually billed), however in network providers are usually covered 80-100%. And, out of network providers fall under a much larger annual deduction. These percentages are of course based on my personal experience, and may not be the identical to your insurance providers policies. This initial visit was to get my teeth cleaned and to see what Dr. Matthews was like. If I liked Dr. Matthew, I would have made an apmt for my husband who needed some dental work. If I had not independently checked, we would not have found out until it was too late, and Dr. Matthews would have been processed by our dental insurance as an out of network provider, and we would have paid much more as compared to a dentist that is in network. Needless to say, I cancelled the apmt. read more

I have had such horrible experiences with dentists in the past and Dr.Matthew and his staff are amazing- they made me wish that I came to see them sooner! From the minute I called and spoke to the office manager Lorena, I felt at ease. She took the time to answer all my many question and even sent me registration forms for my first visit via email. After I made my appointment, Lorena confirmed via email as well and gave me clear directions to the office and made sure I knew that they validated for parking! While I was waiting for my appointment, I took advantage of the free wifi available to clients while Lorena processed my paperwork. Once in the chair, I didn't have to wait an eternity to meet the dentist, which I really appreciated and doesn't seem to be the norm with other dentists. Dr Matthew and his dental hygenist took very good care of me. Dr Matthew listened to my concerns very carefully, he had a lot of empathy and helped bring my anxiety level down immensely. He explained what was a priority and exactly what he would be doing in that visit. He and his hygenist got me through 3 fillings as best they could with specified "chair side" techniques that put my needs first as a patient. Dr Matthew really took his time & made sure I was comfortable. I trusted him to handle my highly visible front teeth. I felt he did a thorough job. I liked everything about this office: highly efficient scheduling and communication, great website, free wifi, clean exam rooms w/TV/DVD, clean waiting room, even their summary of services page is awesome as it actually details what teeth they worked on for what issue and it summarizes estimated costs/insurance payments. Most importantly, each staff member treated me as a person first, not just a patient ID number, and I felt very well cared for. Dental visits even for just a cleaning aren't comparable to a spa day! But this place isn't as scary and painful as you would expect. Got a nice cleaning from Deanna she is friendly and has a gentle hand! She warned me saying I would be sore and sensitive for a couple of days... But I was a bit sore for just a few hours! Love her!!! Met with Dr. Matthew as well ...but I wasn't able to take X-rays (might be pregnant so he wanted to wait to be on safe side) he gave me a visual exam and was able to point out an issue on a tooth I forgot was a bit sensitive from time to time! That was impressive! I will have to wait to get some work done but look forward to going back! Invisalign is something I look forward to once everything else gets taken care of first! Dr. Matthew is THE best Dentist EVER! I've been a patient for many years now. My review is definitely long over due. I initially came to him for a tooth ache but have had several old fillings replaced and two of my wisdom teeth extracted. I now enjoy going to the dentist office for my cleanings. I'm not afraid of feeling any pain, discomfort or judgment like I used to at my old dentist office. I was always embarrassed to come in for my cleanings so I'd always end up rescheduling. Now I come in to see Deanna, their fantastic hygienist, every six months! :D Dina, his dental assistant, is very sweet and makes you feel very comfortable. First, Dr. Matthew and his staff are amazing!!! I was looking for a new dentist and found mine!!!!!! My experience as a first time patient: I drove to my destination, pulled into the parking garage, and there was an attendant as I entered. I pushed a button to receive a ticket and I parked. The garage is nicely laid out and has plenty of parking. I took an elevator up to their office, walked in, and the office had a nice, warm, and welcoming vibe. I was warmly greeted by their staff. Both Glenda and Lorena are lovely!! They are the most friendly and welcoming staff I have ever come across!!! I filled out the new patient forms and waited until the dental room was ready. I called and explained the situation - the staff couldn't have been nicer. I was in the chair within the hour and out the door in 45 minutes.
