Hands down one of the best places to get a grinder in Westfield. Granted, they don't toast their grinders so if you want something hot this isn't the place. They always give generous portions and have a great bagged lunch special, you get an 8" grinder, a drink, chips and a cookie or brownie. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. Richard's Grinders and Catering has a very impressive menu of Italian dinners, pastas, salads, soups, and catering platters, trays and bagged lunches for your big groups. And if you're out and about early they have breakfast sandwiches too. And as their name implies, of course they have grinders. Lots of grinders. Thirty-three different grinders available in up to three sizes. Pretty much any grinder you can think of will be here, even things like a Kielbasa Reuben or a Philly Cheesesteak style grilled chicken breast. They have some very tempting dinner specials that I am positive we would have tried had we lived closer. They have a big dining area with lots of booths and tables, and the young lady who took our order was friendly and courteous. We picked up two grinders - a 12" Ham and Cheese ($7.59) for my wife and a 12" Super Deluxe Cold Cut ($8.59) for me. My Deluxe included Ham, Salami, Pepperoni, Capicola, and I ordered it with lettuce, tomato, onion, oil and vinegar. Cheese choices were Provolone, American, Swiss (my choice), or Mozzarella. If I wanted Feta, that would be a buck surcharge. The sandwich looked great, the bread was fine, the veggies were fine, and the meats tasted fine. I only wish there was more of them on the sandwich. Truth be told, we were a tad disappointed in the quantity of the cold cuts on both sandwiches. Six miles away is the Pajer Superette in Agawam, and their grinders are considerably meatier for a buck or two more. read more

Went to Richard's today and got 4 grinders. Two of the grinders were Turkey Clubs. The grinder rolls are really good and the veggies were fresh. I had an issue with the amount of turkey breast that was on the grinder. You could barely taste the turkey which brought the grinders review down to a 3 star. Good place to get a grinder. Fiancée got the super Italian cold cut grinder with olives pickles and onions with lite lettuce with mayo and mustard. I don't typically like Italian cold cuts but this one is something I'd order. I got a roast beef, pickles, banana peppers, and onions with mayo+mustard. Definitely a good grinder. We went in half an hour before closing but were not rushed and treated poorly as we have before at Big Y a little down the street. Definitely worth the extra few bucks for a fresh, loaded grinder. Weekly staple in my house. Everything is delicious, fresh and made to order. You really can't beat the quality, convenience or price anywhere in town. Richard's is consistent and reliable. We like to buy the meatballs and use them later in the week for another dinner. The side salad selections are perfectly sized and delicious. My kids are picky eaters but they love it here. Went to Richard's grinders for the first time today the lady over the phone was very rude. I ordered a chicken Parmesan grinder with just sauce and cheese the cheese wasn't melted the bread was not toasted, the sandwich was cold. the chicken was cooked to the minimum. The lady asked me over the phone if I was coming to Westfield to pick up the grinder? Which is odd because I never said where I was calling from. Maybe I have an "accent" the young man at the register was very nice. But the lady that answered the phone wasn't. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Big fan! Stopped here last weekend on a road trip to upstate NY. Eggplant parm and roasted turkey sandwiches were AWESOME! They also have great drinks - local sodas and whatnot. Solid grinders, quick service, and reasonably priced. Picked up an 8" turkey club and small salad, totaled $8.50 or so. Sandwich was good sized, plenty of toppings and good sub roll. This place is amazing! Its quick and easy, if you're out late like I was you can grab a delicious quick bite to eat and luckily it's wicked cheap. The quality of the food is extremely delicious and very well made .Its hands down the best grinder I've had in awhile, and the kindness of the employees made it even better. The employees where very nice and treated us with a lot of respect. They went out of the way to have our needs meant. The process was quick and the time we spent waiting was very short, the employees where very fast at cooking our meals, and they for sure did an outstanding job. That night I ordered a delicious juicy steak and cheese sandwich with lettuce it was so good it was the best grinder ever it was so good and crisp .The employees constantly asked if we needed anything and frequently checked on us to make sure we received what we wanted. Not only that but the atmosphere was very nice and clean you could infer that the employees picked up after you and made sure everything was shinny clean. The restaurant in general is just a comfortable place to be, everyone's friendly and the employees do whatever makes their customers happy. I absolutely suggest this restaurant if you need a quick bite to get or in general because they have some good grinders and the atmosphere is nice and comfortable for a night out.
