I have been going to Richard's for about 55 years, they had the freshest rolls. We moved to Arizona about 20 years ago and everytime we come back to visit we have to go to Richard's. We went there yesterday the rolls were not fresh, they were hard and old. What happened????? Have they put the dollar above quality? read more

I "discovered" this place when working close by for three weeks. During my first lunch break I wanted a cold cut grinder, naturally. My first thought was to go to the Big Y right down the street, as I have had their subs before and thought they were pretty good. Long story short, Biy Y had ONE woman working behind the counter during a lunch rush, and I waited over 10 minutes in line before calling it quits, and then desperately looking up a grinder spot on my phone. Richard's came up right away with some assuring reviews, so I felt confident about going there. I did have some hesitation because I hadn't heard of the place, or eaten there, but after reading some of the taste tests I was back in the saddle. I ordered the Supreme Deluxe Cold Cut for my first outing, and I never looked back. After that afternoon I became a regular there. I stopped in every single day and ordered something different (all cold, cuz I'm a cold lunch boy) and never was I close to being disappointed. The Turkey Club was good (although the bacon was a bit tough) and the veggies are fresh, which is a big deal when it comes down to it cuz there's nothing like biting into a limp tomato slice and then seeing brown tinged lettuce hanging out of the sandwich. You won't find that here. Te bread is is like a dream. I fantasize about having a pillow made out of it. The Chicken Philly... Good god! I went off the wagon a bit for this one, but it was worth it. I cannot recommend this business. We ordered a kielbasa and eggplant. Average at best. Honestly, have no clue based on what we experienced why there are so many positive reviews. Over the years, have found most of the food establishments in Western Mass to be also...average at best. Locally owned place, so leaving a 4 instead of something lower. Won't be back. But would encourage you go to go because many others seem to like it. read more

Clean Great service Good price Decent sandwich We had the 4" buffalo chicken ranch cheddar (photo posted). It was good but, quite frankly, I was expecting something better. We traveled across Springfield to find this place. The bread could have been tastier and the chicken was a bit dry. Totally unassuming from the outside, you'd never notice it from the street unless you were looking for it, and that's a shame. This CD is c a C terrific sandwich shop. I've had take-out here on occasion and it's a solid place. Their grinders are satisfyingly HUGE and they have a ton of choices. I tend to steer clear of the hot grinders since I noticed they microwave them. And we all know that microwave + bread = soggy. But for a regular cold grinder, they're definitely better than Subway. read more

My absolute favorite place to go for grinders. I live in CT but every time I'm up that way, I get a big meatball and cheese, half for there and half to bring home. Yep, they microwave it, but it works! The bread is great and the sauce and meatballs are yummy. The place is clean and the people are good. I've nothing bad to say about the place. read more

Love love love the sandwiches but two things they put the meat sitting on the cutting board while they cut your sandwich - like what other things goes on that(food contamination) & second I asked that lady who works there to wrap my sandwich & at the time she was cleaning the bins with a rag and put the rag down (who knows what kind of chemicals were on that rag) and kept the same gloves on from when she was cleaning with the rag & touched my sandwich ! Then after she handed me my sandwich she takes off the gloves and puts new ones on ! That was disgusting and waist of money! I'm so upset! read more
