A little bit of this and a little bit of that, but something for everyone. While I miss the "scoop…read moreand salad" with an Otis Spunkmeyer chocolate chip cookie from Leos, there are many plusses for the breakfast and chicken sandwiches. I have had one of the cranberry salads to go which is fairly normal for what it is. I went back a second time to sit down and have one of the chicken sandwiches, which is a beautiful piece of chicken in a delicious roll, and lots of good drink options. I am the kind of person who likes to go out for dinner and pecks through the day, so sandwiches aren't always my go to food for breakfast/lunch because they are a bit heavy for a midday meal for me. Other people I know who swear by these sandwiches will choose to go to Ray Ray's every time over one of the fast food options for certain. If you aren't in the mood for a bagel at the new bagel place, this is an option that you might want to keep in your back pocket. When I went there, it must've been a school break because I believe they were children that were helping, and it had a really warm family vibe with friendly service.

We opted for a spicy chicken sandwich and a cranberry walnut salad. The sandwich was robust and the sweet potato fries came with a house-made peach honey mustard that was over the top. The salad was giant and packed with so many walnuts and cranberries that I couldn't finish it all. Roasted Brussels sprout leaves sprinkled on top added the perfect umami twist. Easy off and on from the MassPike. Bonus: live music (good!) on Saturday afternoons.

The menu had so many great options - we decided to get a pizza, a pasta, and an entree to share between the four of us. For pizza, we ordered Donna's Favorite, and added crispy chicken. We all loved it and I especially loved the crispy prosciutto. Our entree was chicken piccata, and the capers and lemon in the sauce were excellent. We ordered the penne with vodka sauce, and again, the prosciutto was amazing! Portions were great and the three items we ordered were plenty for the four of us, and we even had leftovers for lunch. Wish we had saved room for dessert - next time!

Our waitress was attentive and friendly, making sure we felt welcome throughout our meal. We kicked things off with calamari and bruschetta as appetizers. The calamari was fresh, but it could have used a bit more seasoning to elevate its flavor. As for the bruschetta, it had an unusual sour note that was quite unexpected and not at all what we've experienced before. My mother-in-law opted for the clam chowder, but unfortunately, she found it lacking and described it as terrible. On a brighter note, my wife ordered the chicken Alfredo and absolutely loved it. I chose the spaghetti and meatballs, and I was pleasantly surprised by the rich flavor of the meatballs, which redeemed the meal somewhat. Overall, I have to deduct two stars due to the disappointing appetizers and the clam chowder. While we appreciated the service, I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon.

And if you're out and about early they have breakfast sandwiches too. And as their name implies, of course they have grinders. Lots of grinders. Thirty-three different grinders available in up to three sizes. Pretty much any grinder you can think of will be here, even things like a Kielbasa Reuben or a Philly Cheesesteak style grilled chicken breast. They have some very tempting dinner specials that I am positive we would have tried had we lived closer. They have a big dining area with lots of booths and tables, and the young lady who took our order was friendly and courteous. We picked up two grinders - a 12" Ham and Cheese ($7.59) for my wife and a 12" Super Deluxe Cold Cut ($8.59) for me. My Deluxe included Ham, Salami, Pepperoni, Capicola, and I ordered it with lettuce, tomato, onion, oil and vinegar. Cheese choices were Provolone, American, Swiss (my choice), or Mozzarella. If I wanted Feta, that would be a buck surcharge. The sandwich looked great, the bread was fine, the veggies were fine, and the meats tasted fine. I only wish there was more of them on the sandwich. Truth be told, we were a tad disappointed in the quantity of the cold cuts on both sandwiches. Six miles away is the Pajer Superette in Agawam, and their grinders are considerably meatier for a buck or two more.

It has a really cool, rustic vibe. The big take home here is their cheese. They have a specific cheese that they sell (Granville cheddar) and it is A1. I got the cold cut sub, and it was actually very good. I'm a harsh critic when it comes to sandwiches, but this was well done. The meats were all good, the oil/vinegar combo was spot on, and the toppings were done just right. It felt clean, flavorful, and was filling. I would say the biggest detractor was the space and the wait. The staff works very hard, but they appear short handed to handle a lunch rush (if you call 2pm a lunch rush). The waiting space is also tight and the layout makes it hard to navigate the store without bumping into people and things. However, the staff does remain friendly and helpful given the circumstances! I would recommend this place for their cheese and sandwiches!

I think the ihop in Enfield is well above most others, but The Farmers House was something else entirely. The food was so good and the kids talked about it all day. They don't do anything here you haven't had before, but they do everything very well. The only thing I could say was not great, and I hate complaining about things like this, is the parking. However, our party of four waited 50 minutes for our breakfast. Even coffee took quite a while to arrive. A canned coke was delivered 20 minutes after ordering. The food was mostly good - Omelet was chock full of meat and was delicious. Bacon was really good. Burger was average and fried chicken was kind of meh - crispy, but very dry. We did enjoy the live acoustic music. It was great to hear live music in the morning since most places only have it at night. However, the excessive wait for food really overshadowed the rest of our visit. Oh well.....
