Dont even bother coming here. You walk in and no one greets you. When someone finally comes out they look at u in a degrading manner. They make absolutely no effort to make you feel welcome or accommodate you. There are better quality salons around the area. read more

Richard is my the very best hairstylist so far in California, and I'm wholeheartedly recommending Richard to be your hairstyle person too! He is very knowledgeable and experienced, and he makes always my hair just the way I like it, and even my wife likes it a lot too! Also, I like that he is using iPhone, so I can pay with my credit card. Whatever time I called Richard for an appointment he did accommodate me, and I love his positive mental attitude. When I first moved to Los Angeles, I was forced into the Oakwood's on Barham as a condition of my enrollment in my alma mater's LA Program, and so I needed a barber in Burbank, and had no idea who to go to. Somehow, my friend Dan and I went to Richards on a whim--and I've been going to Richard's ever since. I always wanted to have the kind of relationship with my hair-cutter/stylist/barber where I could just sit down and they would know what I wanted, or maybe make a suggestion for something new, and then feel confident in trusting their ability to try it. That's what I have with Richard. He's super friendly and funny, but efficient and flexible for his clients. I've been seeing Richard for almost 4 years now, and he does a great job every time and makes me feel like more then just a client. We've become friends. And that's pretty cool to me. read more

Nails by Courtney- one of the most horrible experiences I've had. She's expensive- even with a groupon. I called for WEEKS trying to make an appointment and she never answered the phone or returned my voicemails and when she finally did she was booked for weeks so I had to find whatever time I could to schedule appointments. Finally, I made an appointment for me and my mother. Courtney made us wait for over an hour because she was helping a lady that wasn't satisfied and just kept criticizing her nail job. I wanted to sympathize, I really did, but during my whole session and my mom's this girl kept reliving the experience. She was venting, I get it, but it was so unprofessional and made us uncomfortable. I'm not rating her poorly because she was having a bad day, I've worked customer service before and know how that feels, I'm rating her with one star because she took forever to do our nails and when they were done they had smears and bubbles. To top it off, the polish began to chip by the next day. She really put a damper on the day and on my efforts to pamper my mom. We both said we'd never return. read more

Well its been a month or so since my girlfriend has been going to Courtney on a weekly basis and she said she has nothing but compliments for her. Looking at the two other less then positive reviews seem so childish. My God, these people are going with a Groupon certificate for service fee's. Courtney's must cut her prices 50% or more to stay competitive with the Groupon enviroment. Common sense says a $20.00 Groupon certificate isn't going to get a Beverly Hills spa experience? Last night I was speaking with my girlfriend about how she really felt about Courtney's nails and she said, her opinion would've change even if she purchased the Groupon Cert the first time around herself. She said Courtney's cordial, sweet, hard working nail person. Yes, she does have comfortable office type chairs, however maybe that's what the owner of the shop want's. ( I can't get into why the chairs are there other then simply to sit on.) She also brought up something that I didn't know is that on Groupon the site were you actual buy the service tells you how many Courtney has sold of that particular service. We went back and found Courtney's ad and all services were sold out. Now, out of the 100's of people she working on, she only has two negative reviews. That's amazing to us. I guess there are just hating people out there looking to bring down a hard working individual such as Courtney's Nails. Would love to critique there jobs and send it into their supervisor and sees how they like it. Just my two sense. Don't be a hater! You may want to ask why I'm so passionate about Courtney's nails, critiquing people is what I do for a living. I'm head of a H.R. department for a very large business and sometime you have to look past what that person has to work with and simply look at how they work in there job. Let me start out by saying that I absolutely hate writing poor reviews. I'm not a picky person, and I understand that everyone has off days, so I usually try to be as understanding as possible. However, I feel like my experience at this salon warrants this review. I bought a groupon for a "spa mani/pedi" with Courtney. When I walked into the salon, I saw an office desk/chair in the corner. I wondered where the pedicure would be taking place, since a station set up like that is usually for manicures only. While picking out a color (there was an okay selection with a brand name e.g. OPI polish here and there), Courtney was speaking (pretty loudly) with the woman who was getting her nails done before me. She was talking about how she had not received a single tip from any of her customers the week before. I thought it was a little rude/forward of her to go on talking about it when I was obviously within earshot, but I also understood her frustration (later, I would also understand why no one had tipped her). The appointment started right on time, which is the only positive thing I can say about my experience. I have gotten dozens of manicures throughout my life, and the manicure I received by Courtney was by far the worst. The sides of a few of my nails were left without polish, and a couple of my nails needed another coat to look decent. My pedicure would have looked great had she not accidentally used a colored polish instead of a clear coat on my first (and biggest, hence most noticeable) nail. Instead of wiping it off and starting over, she tried to fix her mistake by going over it with more polish. The end result looked awful. And I still don't know what was "spa-like" about the pedicure I received. I was sitting in a black office chair; the "massage" was about 30 seconds long, and the sanding board she used on the heel of my foot had scrubbed so many feet before mine, that it had absolutely no effect on my rough heels. The whole process took a little over an hour. Had I not already been running late for a dinner meeting, I honestly would have demanded she start over. Instead, I now know to stay away from this place. I would've done a much better job myself and in less time. read more

I got a groupon for Nails by Courtney inside Richard's Hair Salon. My first clue should have been the name of the place. They have a small nail station crammed in a corner which is an office chair and a table. OK for getting a manicure, but I was sitting there wondering...Where is she giving me a pedicure? Courtney did a decent manicure, although the 3D nail art she gave me didn't even last 24 hours! Looking around the salon I noticed I was sitting close to their coffee/food area. I couldn't help but notice coffee, cream, sugar, ANT AND ROACH KILLER! Eww, so now I know you have a roach problem, and you keep the poison with food items? I'd suggest keeping out of costumers sight. Not to mention, I watched Richard finish a haircut on one woman. Then he had his next guest sit down and he used the same cape from the last lady and the same comb! He didn't sanitize his scissors either! I witnessed multiple health code violations which was very unsettling. So Courtney gets a tub for my feet that she brings to the side of the office chair. After soaking my feet, she directs me to keep both feet up on her lower rolling chair. So I'm sitting there in the birthing position for 15 mins or so, legs shaking, back aching, so uncomfortable. She scrubbed my feet with one of those big sanding foot boards and I couldn't help but wonder how many feet have used the same board...Pretty sure you can't sanitize those things! This is the farthest thing from a "Spa Pedicure" I can think of. I do want to say that Courtney was sweet, but it's not about that. As a licensed cosmetologist, I know sanitation standards and laws and I'm sorry but you guys should be busted! There are plenty of things that can be spread from client to client from hair and nail services if you're not sanitizing and disinfecting between customers and it's not fair to subject anyone to that! I honestly felt tricked by the groupon listing. The groupon price was $23, but the value was $49. I cannot see anyone in their right mind paying $50 for an experience like I had. Part of what you pay for with a nail service is the relaxation. You (usually) get to sit in a comfortable, massaging pedicure chair with a nice warm foot soak. This was the polar opposite. I have known Richard most of my life. As a little girl my mother got her hair done there on lazy Saturdays and I would eat lunch and play games while waiting for her in the back. He trimmed my hair, called me pussycat, and was an absolute prince of a guy. Getting older he did my first highlights, cut my hair short for the first time, and even did my elaborate prom up-do. New out here n Burbank-had a great "stylist (barber)- back in Philly--I was asking around-as to where I could get a good haircut out here-was looking for close to a week- found Richard's - quite by accident as I was leaving lunch at Granville-(It's only a few sreps away)-on on San Fernando-- I stopped in & talked w Richard-a very personable guy- told him what I was looking for (I needed to go shopping & told him I'd stop by the next day)- Richard looked at my hair...& told me he understood what I wanted -! Anyway,,,,went back the next day--& I got an absolutely terrific cut (without those "ripoff"..prices so common out here)- The cut was exactky what I wanted- not too much taken off- cleaned up--tapered--this guy knows how to cut hair--he's very experienced--! Apparently someone who worked in Richard's shop doing nails or shoeing horses, or some damn thing, did a lousy job by some people and gave the salon a mediocre rating. I've been going to Richard for eighteen years and sill travel fifty miles to have him cut my hair. I've randomly tried a few others, but there's no comparison. Sam's, Supercuts, and other nonsense haircut factories are amateurs compared to this guy. I'd pay twice the price that he charges to have him cut my hair. Just don't tell him I said so. read more
