I bought a vehicle from Richards in 2022, had a trade and money down and didn't understand the financing after I bought the car I realized how bad they got over on me. I'm still upside down in the car today and had 10,000 down with trade and down payment. They offered to sell me another vehicle with a lesser note and was asking new car prices on the used vehicle and wouldn't budge. There was a 10,000 gap on what they offered me for my car and what it's worth. Because of this, I will never buy another car from Richards Honda. If anyone else out there has experienced anything like this, please write your story. Maybe then someone there will come to their senses when they can't sell vehicles. If yall need a car, this is the guy that will take care of you. I've been searching for cars for 2 months now. I did my shop through online with carfax, cargurus, Edmund, and many other sources. I search from north to south, west to east, but then realize that southern hospitality is always better right behind my backyard. I wheel and deal with Victor for weeks EVEN AFTER HOURS he still responded nothing like just having a buddy shopping along your side. He was honest and genuinely himself. You just know when you know, even when I blew him off when the deal went sour. So days later, he texts me, so what does my boss agree on or what can I do for you? After I have been dealing with other dealers on the same car using his deal to see if I can get one here local. All shoot me down didn't belive the offer that I was given. They even dare me by saying if it's true, then go get the car that I shouldn't even try to buy it from them. So I turned them down and drove 3 hours away the next day to pick up my car. That same day, I drove my car back and had a few texts from the dealer. I was in talk with to see if I still want the car.. Told them I'm driving one now boy the best feeling ever when they thought I was bluffing. So here my proof is that the 3 hours drive was worth it and save me 6k, and guess what? My whole family came, and we had a good bonding time in Baton Rough and enjoyed the food while we were there. @Chimes and @coffee call for some bengiets. I accompanied my brother to Richard's Honda for the purchase of a used vehicle. Everyone seemed polite during the purchase, but that's expected. My brother brought up some issues he observed with the vehicle but was assured they would check everything and ensure he was good to go. My brother also mentioned that he didn't want to buy the car only for it to fall apart once he pulled it off the lot. The salesman laughed and said they wouldn't be able to do that because of the lemon law. My brother paid cash for the vehicle which went seemingly okay, but we were not pleased that the financial department processed the check prior to talking to us, and had not informed my brother that they increased the price of the vehicle because the taxes were cheaper where my brother lives. He was essentially stuck at that point because he didn't have another check. Sure, it was a few hundred dollars, but if you're changing a quoted price, you should inform the customer before proceeding. Anyways, my brother let it slide and continued with the purchase. Everything seemed okay with the vehicle, but less than 3 weeks after the purchase, a warning light came on the dashboard, indicating an issue with the radiator. My brother called the dealership and explained the issue. He was told he could bring the vehicle in for them to check it out. The service technician told my brother that he remembered seeing the fluid on the radiator but thought it was from an old repair that had been resolved. He later confirmed that the radiator needed to be replaced and that he would check with management for approval to do the repair and stated it shouldn't be a problem. My brother was surprised to receive a call later from the salesman asking if he planned to pay the $1,600 for the repair. My brother said no because he did not have the car 30 days, and this definitely was a preexisting issue. What was even more alarming was that once of the managers wanted to insinuate that my brother did the damage to the radiator himself, that they had did a pressure test on the radiator, and that they informed my brother that they tested the radiator prior to purchasing the vehicle - all of which were untrue. Management refused any sort of accountability and told my brother that if he would have reported the issue with 1-3 days, "maybe" they would have done something. So there's no guarantee that they would've done anything to rectify the situation if the radiator needed repair within days. They offered no type of compromise, had no accountability, and tried to fabricate events that never occurred. If you are in the market for a new or used vehicle, we suggest you choose another location - especially if you are expecting to encounter personnel with integrity or purchase a reliable vehicle. I went to Goodyear for an oil change then another Goodyear for a transmission fluid exchange within a three day window. Immediately my car started smelling like burnt rubber. That was disarming. I brought the car to Richard's Honda Service Center. I was greeted by Christian Sunseri. He assured me they'd take a look and identify the issue. Turns out I had an oil leak because a plate was dislodged. The transmission was also not capped properly which caused other issues. They also discovered the drive belt was worn. I was able to get financing through the service center. Christian was in constant contact, giving me updates and helping me through the financing process. They fixed the issue same day because the part was available and I was up and running without having to dump a big chunk of change on this service. The financing process was fair and painless. Christian was fantastic throughout this process. After feeling like I was taken advantage of at both of the Goodyear shops, no way they didn't see oil leaking, it's nice to know you can expect great service from Richard's Honda. I never go to dealerships but at newer to BR so thought I would give it a try. I made a 10am appointment to wait on an oil change, tire rotation and their inspection. Upon arrival I pulled up to the door and went inside. I wasn't really greeted by anyone so I walked up to a desk and told them about my appointment. The gentleman took my keys and asked if I was waiting. I said yes and he pointed me to the waiting room. At no point did he indicate wait time. There was a younger rep who was walking around checking on his clients. After an hour and a half with no updates, I asked him if he could check on my vehicle since I had been there an hour and a half and hadn't heard any updates. He was super friendly and checked for me. He said my inspection was being completed and my service advisor (SA) who I won't name would be with me shortly. My SA approached after several minutes, introduced himself and began walking me through the results. They recommended rear break pads and a break fluid change. I asked how long that would take. He told me and I told him I would have to pass that I didn't plan on being there as long as I had. My SA then explained to me that their inspections are very thorough and take a long time and if I wanted a quick service I should let them know to skip that next time. Had I been given any kind of estimate on time up front, I would have likely left and gotten a speedy oil change elsewhere. Once my service was done, I went to my SA's desk to be checked out. The interaction was kind and speedy. He then got a little uneasy when he had to tell me about the customer satisfaction survey I may get. He explained it would have questions about the cleanliness of the waiting room (which had a couple pieces of trash on the floor) and timeliness. He explained that he didn't have control over the service time but that all of my feedback would reflect directly on him. He insinuated he'd appreciate if I could give him a good review. I probably would have been more amicable to that if he had greeted me initially (instead of an hour and a half into me waiting) or given me any kind of time estimate up front and had not gotten a bit snippy about time in the first place. Tl;dr - don't go here and wait if you're looking for timely service. Opt for their shuttle or drop your vehicle off. read more

Came here with my husband to look at a car I saw online. Now online the car was listed in great condition, but had no pictures of the inside. We arrive at the car lot and nobody came out to help us. So we went and found someone. She pulled the car up front and we were able to get in and test drive it. We got in and realized the seats were stained and there was rust in the cup holders. The lady said the car hadn't been cleaned yet, which I don't understand why you would show a car that hadn't been cleaned. When we started the car, it was making a weird noise, which got louder as we drove. She said she didn't know what was wrong with the car. And when we got out, the car was leaking something. This lady didn't seem to be too knowledgeable and the whole situation was just weird. Don't know that I would trust buying a car from here. read more

Wife and I bought a car from Richards Honda last year. Repair technicians scratched and gouged the dashboard while replacing defective air vents. We came to Richards 3 separate times and waited for hours each time only to be told they "didn't have the parts, they ordered the wrong parts, and the wrong parts came." The level of incompetency is astounding to make us come out and wait hours on 3 separate times only for nothing to be down. This was a brand new car with the dashboard plastic ruined by the technicians. Even worse, before we moved to Houston Chelsea the technician told us that they could ship the parts to Houston Honda and have it repaired there for no additional cost, but after arriving here still have not had the parts shipped over, and Houston Honda is saying we have to pay to get it fixed now. Be extremely careful of the technicians and management here, I would recommend buying your car somewhere else if you have to get repairs and recall work done here. If you do have to get repairs done, get everything in writing and take pictures. read more

I wanted to update my review since my experience turned from a 1 star to a 10 star one if I could give that rating. Maybe the manger on duty on the day of my 1 star rating was having bad day. Anyway, General Manager Chris Brown called me and worked out a deal I couldn't be happier with. What he proposed to me ending up getting me a monthly payment at 0% through Honda that was less than I would have would have paid and for $8 a month more than what I was willing to pay got a 7 year/70,000 warranty and 4 year maintenance plan. OJ my salesman was great from day 1, outstanding young man. Ms. Richards' as I'm sure she is should be proud of these 2 men, great representative for the dealership. I've always serviced my Honda there, and they are always are trustworthy and give excellent service to your car. The service team is professional and have great communication skills. I recently had a repair needed on my family's second car, and even though it's a Nissan I didn't think twice. I made an appointment on their easy to use website, and they had me in and out quickly with my Nissan 100%! Highly recommend these guys! read more

I can't believe it took me so long to write this review. Genuinely the worst experience I've ever had and I'm so glad my husband and I buy from different dealerships now. I'll make a long story short, because this went on for well over a year and it's a lot to unpack. We bought a 2017 Honda Accord Sport from them in around...2021? and it had the following issues: - No inspection sticker (had to argue for one) - Illegal window tint, which took months for them to finally remove for us - Battery was loose and you could actually see where the metal had been hit by it before - $400 blank check (signed) from who I can only assume was the previous owner; this had the full name, number, and address of the owner as well as a receipt with their family member's names (I assume parents) in the glove box - McDonald's hash brown wrapper in the back seat (tucked in the cup holder) growing black mold - Sand in the air filters (POURED it out when I found it) - Backup camera refused to work (would work for weeks/months then go black, would take it to the dealership, pay to get it fixed, would break again) - Was charged for ~$900-1,000 in repairs that our warranties covered, had to get reimbursements (they only gave us credit, which we'll never use as we no longer do business with them) I think that's about everything, but I'm sure there's more. They violated the privacy of the previous owner(s), cost us money and time we'll never get back, and showed a massive lack of integrity. When I attempted to get the tiny fixed, I was spoken to in such a disrespectful and hurtful manner. Side note; when my mother was looking for a car a few years back she went to this dealership and while test driving one of their cars on the interstate, it literally broke down. BUYER BE WARNED! DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM RICHARDS HONDA! I am actual customer, and saw recently they have a new dealership off of I-12 and the truth needs to be put out there so people know! Just a bigger facility with the same scams and schemes as the hole in the wall dealerships! They are not about the customer just moving units and their metrics! I bought a certified used Honda which I thought was a smart move since it would come with a warranty, at least you would think. In no time at all I had a few issues that I had to fight with them in order to make the repairs. The repairs were made but not after needless conversations. Poor customer service (on the phone and in person). They would put me on hold and never come back on the phone, or some how drop my call when they transferred me. I spent too much time just trying to get a hold of someone. The apathetic girl at the front desk was on a personal phone call on her cell phone. I know this because I stood there for over 5 minutes waiting for her to finish her call to help me. I have personally ran a successful business, and I would never allow my customers to be neglected or maltreated. Crappy touch ups with empty promises to fix and a bunch of run around! When my warranty was about to end I started to have paint issues on the trunk and rear driver's side quarter panel. I contacted them and they would not help me. They waited for the warranty to end then came the disingenuous phone call to see what was going on. They were very happy to let me know they could not do anything for me since my warranty time frame was done....even though I contacted them well before it was due to expire. (I will attach photos ASAP.) So I currently have a car with clear coat and paint peeling off and I am stuck with the cost of painting the car myself. On top of that there were a few other issues that I had during the warranty, but decided to take care of them myself to avoid dealing with Richard's Honda. They would call me once every few months to see how I was doing...but the purpose of the call was to tell me about their sales and beg me for referrals to boost their metrics. Until I started to have issues with my car and would keep calling them, all of a sudden the calls stopped. I welcome anyone from management at Richards Honda in Baton Rouge to contact me to make this wrong right. This review will be posted on all car review forums. Not a complaint to be had for Richards Honda. We knew we wanted the Honda Odyssey, so we started at Team Honda then Richards a few days later. To start, we showed up without appointments to both. Richards was faster for someone to come out to greet us, even though both were equally busy. Gerald was our salesperson with over 15 years experience, and compared to any car buying experience I've ever had, he was the most patient and thorough I've even seen. We went back to Team Honda and really was shown just how unusual Gerald was because Team proved to be pushy & made rude remarks (that were completely false) about Richards. Even though Team had the exact model I wanted, I chose Richards Honda. Richards' price was only 1k less, but more than anything, I knew I could trust Gerald. I had told him about the bad review on Yelp, and his response was very professional. He didn't try to deny that someone may have had a bad experience with their service department. He instead was very real about it and was honest enough to say that we can get our car serviced at any Honda dealership, which I certainly didn't know till he said that. Every process of the car buying experience with Richards was stress-free. We went to Richards a total of three three times, and each time we were greeted with a smile and bottles of cold water from Gerald, even 4 bottles on the two times we brought our little girls. Everyone we came across was very pleasant and smiling. I was especially impressed with how laid back the manager, Curtis, was compared to the manager at Team. He even had us laughing when he nonchalantly asked if it mattered whose name was first on the van - he and my husband were in hysterics when they saw the look on my face because Gerald had let him know how important that was to me to be first on the paperwork ;-) Also, Gerald let us know that Richards has been family-owned & operated for years. Their prices are much lower than Team's prices, and they certainly work hard to get the customer what is wanted. Almost forgot, I am still flabber gasted with how thorough, calm, and patient Gerald was with showing us all the features of the van the day we picked it up; he walked us through every detail in the Owner's Manual & showed us all the little things most people need right away in the car. I recommend Richards Honda to anyone looking to buy a great quality vehicle, just make sure to ask for Gerald! read more

My 73 year old mother went to have her car serviced...she had held off during quarantine for as long as she could. She arrived and not a single person in the service department had on masks to protect their customers. The following day while she waited for them to finish up her car service she thought she would check out her new car options as she will probably buy a new one in the next year. A service rep came strolling over with NO FACE MASK. My mother, who was wearing her mask as she is in her 70's, kindly asks the man if he had a face mask...he replies disgustedly that he would have to go get one and leaves. I just cannot understand a business that is not respectful enough of others to simply wear a face mask during a pandemic when working with senior citizens. They were told we had a firm limit for monthly payments and they wasted hours of our time pretending they were unable to get it, even though we had pre-approval through Capital One with lower payments. They claimed the pre-approval meant nothing, and ran our credit a second time through Capital One themselves, adding an uncalled for additional credit check to our report. The itemized pricing from Capital One was lower than the amount they were attempting to pass on to us at the dealership. Taxes were higher. There was a recondition fee that claimed couldn't be removed to avoid "discrimination" but did eventually get removed as we wasted hours of our afternoon while they pretended to be working on the deal to meet our requirements. Once we had enough, we left and explained the next day we would not be returning for further negotiations, at which time the response was a bit rude basically acting as though their offer was the best we would ever see and we were throwing away a good thing. Two days after this, they called, emailed, and texted asking if they could get our payments down to the requested amount now, would we return? Why did they just do that in the first place then? We did not buy a car from them, and will not return in the future or recommend them to people. read more

I do not recommend buying a used car here. Or buying a car here if you're a woman. Car dealerships will find every way to treat women poorly because they think they can get away with it - don't let them. I had Michael Winfrey as my salesman and I do not recommend him. He repeatedly called me "baby" and "honey" and other condescending names which I asked him not to - that's creepy and misogynistic, stop it. He was not a good communicator. I traded in my salvage car as part of the sales deal and made it extremely clear that I needed to get my personal effects out of my car when it was towed to the dealership. I texted Michael every day asking about when my old car was getting to the dealership and he either wasn't there or didn't know and eventually he said something along the lines of he didn't know where it was. I told him, because this broke the terms of the deal, that I'd be sending an itemized invoice to the dealership and if it wasn't filled in the next 5 days I would report them to the Better Business Bureau. He said "Huh I'll have him [his manager] call u." He never did. I called the dealership, spoke with a manager, last name Watson, that never called me back. I found another manager's name in my emails and sent him the invoice and information as well and finally, he helped me and was straightforward. Chris Brown - thanks. He fulfilled the invoice in a few days. Otherwise - the car they sold me has only one key that doesn't work 3/4 of the time (I already replace the battery myself because they couldn't). They sold me the car with an expired emissions tag, which is legal for used cars, but hey, is inconvenient and doesn't look great! When I took the car in to my mechanic (Ragusa's - the best) for my buyer's check they found the oil can encasement being held by zip ties. This is BAD. a rock could hit the underside of the car and cut the zip tie easily and the oil can could come loose. I found out the dealership did this themselves when "repairing" the car before putting it on the lot. That's cutting corners. When Michael gave me my mats to put in my car, he gave them directly to my boyfriend instead of to me and asked him to put them in my car for me. Didn't even look at me. God forbid a woman do anything for herself or know how to do anything concerning a car ever. What year is it again, 1950? And of course, they gauged me for the price like every dealership is these days. But that's nothing new. I purchased a used 2012 Lexus and overall found this to be a disappointing, dishonest and unsafe deal ship to work with at this time. I purchased the car remotely, and should have heeded the issues as they came up and walked away. 1. The service department changed tires on the vehicle to a cheap Chinese brand at a cost of $1200 and did nothing else. Their inspection results were "Recent oil change and it's not leaking". Wow, they didn't even change the oil since it had 500 miles left according to the oil change sticker. 2. I met the salesman midway between the dealer and my home since we were an internet purchase. Once we arrived at the meeting point, I called the salesman and he told me he was running 1 1/2 hours late and did not even have the courtesy to call me and say he was late leaving. 3. Picking up the vehicle from a dealer only 70 miles from coronavirus hotspot, I would expect a disinfected car. The car was exactly as the previous owner turned it in - dirty napkins in the armrest, leftover food in door bins, body dirt on the center console. Absolutely disgusting and dangerous!! 4. Battery died on my first drive with the car. Never checked. 5. Contacted the GM with my concerns, and no response. Zero. None. I have put $2500 in repairs in the first week of ownership. Some were my choice to add safe tires, some were required to get a car to run. Poor dealership and in this time, dangerous to deal with. read more

I came to RICHARDS HONDA because my tire light came on. After waiting 2 1/2 hours, I found my service advisor and he tells me that they found a nail in my tire it would be a few more minutes which turned out to be another hour. Before he even started the work I told the advisor what tire it was. Nevertheless when the work was done, I left there only to be surprise that an hour later the tire light was back on. The next day I called the service manager, Donna Lane, I did expressed my concerns she advised me to come back. Once I got back there the next day she told me that I was going to be right in and I wasn't gonna have to wait too long. Which that was a lie! I've waited almost 2 hours before they even touch my car, only to find out that I had the same nail in the The same tire. I was livid. Because this is my second day with the same issue. Nobody apologize, and I live 45 minutes from this dealership. I have never experienced anything like this to make matters worse I leave this dealership only to find that tire light comes back on the next day. So I contacted the dealership the next day and speak to the service manager Miss Donna Lane AGAIN!!! and instead of her apologizing for my experience the first thing she tells me is I must have Rolling another Nail. You must be kidding me. What happens to apologizing to your customer for the experience . Because I purchased a tire warranty through this company I have to go through them For a car that do not even have 10,000 miles on it so it's going to be three visits to RICHARDS HONDA in one week all for tire issue. This is one of the best dealerships in Baton Rouge period. It started 3 years ago when we went here to buy my first car. We decide on an accord because not only was it new at the time but they gave us an offer we could pass up on. Ever since then I take my car there for maintenance and tires changes and pretty much anything I need. Not only do they have great prices but the customer service is impeccable. Relatively new to the area & needed service on my Pilot. Chelsea was AMAZING! She is prompt, courteous & professional. She reviewed all my service options & although I thought I needed more work done than needed, she did not pressure me to make that investment at this time! I cannot say that for many auto service companies that always try to up sell you on repairs. In addition to that, we discovered our key fob was inadvertently damaged. I had the best experience BUYING a car from Richards Honda, but then the real trouble started when bringing it to the SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I am consistent and pride myself on staying on top of maintenance needed for my brand new car. I just had my tires rotated and oil changed 2 months ago and then today when I brought it to be checked for a tire loosing air they slammed me with "oh yeah, well your tread is really bad and you actually need all 4 new tires" How in the world did I go from having perfectly good tires 2 months ago to now needing all 4 brand new tires? Mind you also this is a 2 year old car with only 20,000miles on it. I do not drive a lot. I don't mind having to buy new tires if needed, what's suspicious is why was I not told at my last maintenance check that my tires were looking worn? My husband is deployed and I depend on them to tell me when I need something done to my car and they let me down. Also no one explains anything to me, they just tell me sign here, here, and here and you owe $100 have a nice day. They just rush me in and out. I do ask every time too "so how did everything look?" And every time they tell me everything looked great. But when I ask more questions they always looked at me confused and start scratching their head because they DIDNT EVEN READ THE REPORT OF WHAT WAS DONE! They always run back to the back to ask. So obviously these people are not really checking and are not paying attention. Someone is just checking the boxes and sending you on your way. Also pretty strange that my first oil change that was included for free after purchase was excellent, they sat with me asked how everything was going, explained to me in detail everything that was checked and now every time I go in its nothing like that? They make the process of buying a car so smooth and easy, but good luck with the headache of maintaining your car with the service department! And an oil change takes ALL DAY so be prepared to have a ride when you drop it off. Customer service is awful in person and on the phone, when I call I am transferred a million different times and the call always gets dropped. Also when I bought the extra warranties and policies to insure my tires/rims/windshield it actually turns out it doesn't really cover what was told to me when I bought it. read more

I will give customer service a 2!! My car is a 2016 with right at 25,000! Earlier this year I took my car in for an oil change and 98% of the employees were NOT wearing mask!! I have underlying conditions and sat pissed the entire time I was there!! They came back and said there was a oil leak somewhere and it would be $200 plus to fix. I refused that service and said I would be back. At the time the mileage was maybe 23,000 on a 2016! My son called and spoke with someone and they agreed there would be no charge! Great! So I took the car back and this time 99% of the employees were MASKLESS!! I asked my service representative (who was wearing a mask) what is up with these people??? Putting my life in danger!! She said she understood and let me sit in a room with a door, that she closed when she left out. As I am sitting there on what I thought was a private conversation on MY cell, telling my cousin "these #€|*+ ... are not wearing MASKS"!!! WITHIN 3 MINUTES I knew they heard my conversation because they made a point to pass in front of the room where I was, those WHO DID NOT have on mask, were masked up!!! Received a card in the mail for a tire rotation and oil change the other day. I got a text today saying it's time for an oil change OR servicing. I call the number on the text and ask for the service department and she says this is service. I was asking what is the required mileage for a oil change? She says a light will appear on the dash. Why the hell then are you texting me and sending notices thru the mail? So does my number go to the rudest most unfriendly representative you have? Horrible customer service!! read more

I was searching for a specific car with specific interior & was told they had one being delivered 3 rd week of September! I was encouraged to come in & do the paperwork. I get there & they took up 3 hours of my time & pull a white CRV around! Like, I know you don't have the car I want & I was specific, tan interior! I go outside & black interior To make long story short sales manager confirmed he never had the car coming "down the pipeline" & this was first he heard about me wanting tan interior .... I told him his 2 salesman did & have totally wasted my 3 hours! Even had me drive a car but it was on Empty .... Another salesman had the gas card, it was all so unprofessional & as a nurse working 60 hours a week I left and just cried! Not over disappointment of not having the car, but that my one day off was spent there & not with my kids. Also just FURIOUS I WAS LIED TO ! 100 percent! I scheduled an appointment to have the oil changed in our Odyssey. Spoke to a sales associate (Gerald, who sold us our van), and the service department called back very quickly to set up a time with me. Got to Richards and didn't know where to go; luckily the nice receptionist informed me on what to do. Drove down the service corridor and waited in my van, and waited and waited for about twenty minutes before someone came to get my information. Once they took my van to the shop it was really only about thirty minutes for an oil change and tire rotation. Overall, I was pleased with the experience. I thought $45 was a little pricey for an oil change, but maybe that is just me. read more
