We frequent this restaurant almost once a week. You honestly can't beat their lunch specials. A small portion meal and a drink for $6.99? Where else can you get that at a sit down restaurant? They also have 4 other lunch specials in addition, and other fair-priced dinners if you so desire. Their broasted chicken is outstanding. Smoked cheeseburger, very good. Chicken and noodles, decent. The only bad things I've had there is their applesauce, and undercooked chicken tenders. It happens. One thing my coworkers have noted with me. Going in there, we're about 40-50 years younger than most of the customers. Nice people just in there slowly enjoying their lunch. Richard's are slowly fading away. Glad we still have one in New Haven. read more

When out in the country one should always eat at the local places. We stopped for lunch on a Saturday. Place wasn't busy. Service was fast and food was good. We ordered pork tenderloin and breakfast platter. Fries were especially tasty, nice and crispy. read more

I lived in New Haven for a handful of years and moved away for about a decade I had not been to the Richards location since 2010 they still have great prices simple food and simple desserts the local Haven's are pretty laid back and down to earth and that's how all the feel is still in the restaurant you can see that some people have left negative reviews. Unfortunately service in Fort Wayne is not that great in most of the spots or the surrounding areas. The fact that Richard's has survived in New Haven says a lot when many things have not survived around us, as the wife and I promise to be back. read more

Absolutely the worst food ever, my mom and I had the cod sandwich basket and the only thing edible was the fries, the sandwich had one tiny piece of fish on it (I cut the bun in half and it still had a lot of bread) the first bite was awful but I had to try a second bite and it almost made me puke, it was closer to sushi than cod. Mouse!! A live one ran from behind the bench my wife was sitting at. Food tasted good though. But, they were out of sweet potatoes, we were told after waiting 20 minutes. The fried chicken took 25 minutes, when asked about a baked potato since sweet potatoes were not available; server said it would be a wait. I said I take the green beans then. Great family style meals, and prices are reasonable. Went in for breakfast and had the breakfast special which include coffee in the price. Great since most restaurants charge $3 for coffee. We had one waitress servicing the restaurant who did an awesome job of keeping my coffee filled and meal was speedy. The reason for the 3 stars was the meal was bland and was missing a flavor or kick. The special was filling, just would have been nice to have a spice or added touch to one of the items. Of course I may be breaking from the norm with most wanting the meal just the way it is. Overall, I would return if in the area. Like that it is next door to hotel. read more

Richard's is known for good food at reasonable prices. This visit was an absolute disappointment. Very poor service, and had to wait far too long to even get a menu. After waiting an eternity, my food arrived. The portion was smaller than a children's menu entree!! Also, I had to ask repeatedly for refills of my water, which they refused to bring in a larger cup. Had to wait too long for everything, including to pay at the end of the ordeal. I won't go back to this Richards location. Not a lot of choices in New Haven. Great value restaurant. Just like the Richards out north, only newer and more spacious. Same menu as the others, super prices, great service. This area lacks a lot of restaurants so if you are liking for great food at reasonable prices, give Richards a try! While it is right next door to the Holiday Inn Express, the entrance is off of Minnick road, turning east on Isabelle Drive. read more

Have been out of town for 8 years (moved to Vegas) and use to frequent all of their places and enjoyed it. This time was the absolute worse service that I have EVER experienced at ANY restaurant I have eaten. There were 3 people in our party we all ordered different items. They brought out my BLT and the bread was maybe 3 inches across and filled with cold, severely undercooked bacon and cold fries. The waitress intended to bring out my wife's salmon, but said (I am not making this up) that the first piece came out white and looked weird so they were making a new piece. She took my plate back to the kitchen. Several minutes later, she brought out our friend's plate of burnt breaded shrimp. Our friend was nearly done with her meal before they brought our plates out. This place has good food at great prices. Try the 3 piece chicken or the smothered chicken. They are both great. I'm from Chicago and always eat here when in town visiting family. They have great pies and apple dumplings but tend to run out of pie early in the evening. The service is very small town like, friendly and cheerful! read more

I don't know if we came on an off day but our waitress seemed very annoyed when we were sat in her section. She was prompt right away and got our drink order, and from then on it went downhill. It felt like she was completely ignoring us. She had only 3 other tables so she wasn't busy, we saw her standing around several times. Our food arrived 20 minutes after we ordered and it was stone cold. We finished our water and coffee 3 minutes after being there and she walked past us numerous times and did not check on us once. We had to ask for more coffee and it was cold as well. We took 2 bites of our cold food and walked out. Never coming back again it was that bad of service. Very disappointing and if we had been sat one seat closer to the front instead of the middle we probably would've had a much better time with a different waitress. read more

"Richards" has been around for a long time. And in that time, they just keep getting worse. At one time they were known for some good home cooking with prices and portion sizes that were acceptable. My last visit there, will be my last. I went for dinner with my wife on a Tuesday around 4pm. Note, it is not a rush time. Every table was filthy and nobody seemed to care about cleaning them up. They weren't even busy! Waitresses felt it more important to stand around and talk. Management was no where to be seen. It took 10 minutes for us to be recognized for an order. When the food did arrive, it was cold and the portion sizes were extremely poor. I ordered breakfast. The hash browns and bacon were old and cold (both probably from the morning) and I was still hungry afterwards. I had asked the waitress where the management was. Her reply was that she was in the kitchen. So I just paid my bill, and that was that. I used to go there regularly. But I've seen the decline. This review isn't based on just one visit. The last few visits there have been the same or close to it with always the same mentality, "I'll give them one more chance. Maybe they just had an off night." So if you're planning on going, there is a Halls down the road or a Huddle House on the other side of the highway. read more

Disappointed with my visit. I tried the grilled salmon with green beans and hash browns. The salmon was dry and bland. It was also greasy, which I don't expect from grilled food. The hash browns were soggy and extra greasy. I couldn't even eat them. They tasted like grease. The beans were good and the waitress was nice.
