I had a wonderful, personal experience with a friend at Rickhouse recently. The drinks were beautifully executed and the atmosphere was friendly with the bartender and customers. The Lemon Meringue Pie was a gin-based drink that was silky, bright, and had a creamy foam on top. The taste of this drink is very unique, and it was balanced with its vanilla-citrus warmth and limoncello. The La Bonne Vie was more fresh and herbaceous; I liked the bitter taste of the grapefruit. I have been going to the Rickhouse for years. It is always on my list when I go to SF and I've even taken clients here because I like it so much. This last biz trip in SF didn't disappoint when I took 2 clients here before dinner. The place itself hasn't changed at all with its brick wall facing the main bar with a narrow lane going to the back room. The back room is wood paneled (presumably from bourbon barrels) with a few barrel top "tables" and stools at each. There's even a cool mezzanine level overlooking the rest of the joint. The vibe is very speakeasy meets yesteryear forge or blacksmith shop. And it is POPULAR. The after work rush often makes the Rickhouse and that narrow lane often difficult to navigate. It can take the bartenders a bit to get to you but they are making all the cocktails from scratch and manage the crowds pretty well. If you are searching for a quiet place to enjoy a cocktail, the after work rush makes this not the place for you. I have been here at other times and haven't had any issues. The mostly bearded bartenders donned with leather aprons are friendly and professional and whip up classics as well as other creative and delicious cocktails (instead of butchering animals...or people). I've enjoyed many of them over the years including a punch bowl shared with clients once. This time I ordered a Brazillianaire which had caught my eye and one of my clients liked it so much, he ordered two! I tried to find the current menu showing what was in it but figure it had Cachaca and rum and was very Tiki-adjacent (I love Tikibars!) and absolutely delicious! Prices are inline with cocktail prices...$14 for my other client's Sazerac (I bet that was good, too!) and $18/each for our Brazillionaire special seasonal cocktails. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! What a cozy bar with event spaces available for rental private parties. Pisco sour was sweet and fruity. The small mezzanine upstairs can hold 20 comfortably. Seats for all. It is unique and has a nice view of the downstairs both sides. Holiday time is especially festive and very cozy with the fireplace on. Feels warm like I'm in a cabin with all the wood walls. Order at the bar and bring your drink anywhere. No server for the table. Water stations available so get your own water to stay hydrated and safe! Don't get sick. That's no fun. read more

I was there with my gf one night and it was really special. The bartenders were especially attentive and made us our drinks quickly. The door guy was friendly as well. I love the design of this bar specifically the cool vintage white milk glasses that adorn the back of the bar. Water is readily available which is a major plus. It's great for parties and I love that they have a projector in the back. I would love to have a dance party there! The bathroom is clean and it's honestly such a comfort to go into someone's establishment and have a nice bathroom to use. I could sit at the bar the entire night and just be happy. The lights on the drinks are great and just the overall aesthetic makes for a wonderful place to go after work or a weekend affair with buddies or girlfriends. Definitely tip these guys well because they really deserve it for all of their hard work and delicious drinks! An awesome craft bar with a dim, saloon aesthetic. Would highly recommend, especially for happy hour! I first heard of Rickhouse back in 2017 from a bartender friend from Houston, who gave rave reviews about how excellent and high-quality the mixologists and craft cocktails were at Rickhouse. And I have been not disappointed! There's a rotating list of cocktails that change every season, as well as Rickhouse's classics. Can't decide on a drink? Order a Sazerac! They also have wine and beer (both bottled and tap) available. The staff here are always helpful and friendly and the drinks are top-notch. This is a very cute spot for a date night. I like to grab my drink, go sit upstairs where the light is dim, and just enjoy the view of the rest of the bar. Additionally, they also do private events. Rickhouse is a wonderful whiskey bar in FiDi with a massive selection, wonderful staff, and fairly competitive prices! The only downside is that it's a pretty smaller place, so it can get packed real quick. But other than that it's a good time. I look forward to my next visit the next time I'm in SF. read more

Came here for the first time. I really loved their decor and their whiskey selection. The decor feels like being in a cabin or a distillery far away from the city. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Only downsides were that they were out of a lot of things listed on the whiskey list; it would have been nice if it noted as out of stock on the menu . Also, the prices for some of these whiskeys is a bit higher than other spots. However, you are paying for the experience and ambiance. Will definitely come back to explore their menu more. read more

On the first floor there is bar area, a cozy fireplace and a back seating area. On the mezzanine level there is some more seating area with a panoramic view of the first floor. The bouncer last night was racist and rude. Bartender requested us to wait as he was working on other drinks. After we got our drinks and attempted to close the tab. It took another few minutes for the bar tender to take my card and close the tab. During that time the bouncer seemed annoyed and rudely asked my guests to move. I am not sure what the hell we were supposed to do when bartender asked us to wait for the drinks and the check. In past I have had good experience here and don't intent to claim that place is inherently bad. This is my town and I intent to go back there. Love the ambiance. Some cocktails are amazing, some are just okay! I had the mi abuelo which was fine. My friend got the stranger on horseback and it was sooo good! We also had the absinthe drink which I would not recommend. It was not tasty! We walked in because this spot looked interesting from the outside (dark but inviting). Came here on a holiday bar hop on a friday 12/20 evening around 5pm.. They had the Christmas lights and tree decorations very nice. However when ask to change the music from heavy mental rock to something more holiday spirit it was mentioned to us that "manger has the music set and is not willing to change it" (even though the ipad and Spotify was obviously was right there) and it was mentioned to us 3 times to go across the stree to another bar (Nightgale) like our money was not appropriate or good enough for the environment here. Don't come if you are in a holiday spirit. Drink are expensive. $17 + and very halloween vibe in December... We were also the only Latin people here. read more

Came for a drink after work and this bar is super vintage. Has a great upstairs which reminds me of something out of Harry Potter, but it is a tad dark even though they have candles. Parking is non existent as it's on Kearny. The draft was cold and perfectly poured. The only complaint I have was the bouncer or manager. Standing outside checking IDs and I have mine in a sleeve. He wanted me to take it out and I understand about minors, but come on... I'm 40 years old and was wearing a suit coming from work with folks that look older than me (however they got carded too). Very cute moody bar. Love the decor! Lots of wood, barrels, ambient lighting (including real candles). There's a main front bar area and then a seating area in the back as well as an upstairs seating area. Cute seating areas but a bit uncomfortable because a lot of the furniture was wooden and wobbly. Single bathroom is in the middle of the bar with a sliding door - interesting. Drinks were great and came with cute garnishes. I got the Stranger on Horseback and it was definitely a strong hit of mezcal but still delicious! It was pretty lively for a Thursday night! They stay open late and when we left around midnight there was still a good number of people there. Staff was friendly and hilarious. When my date and I walked into the back room to sit down one of the staff members noticed us and then dimmed the lights!!!! Hilarious! You need proof of your vaccination status to get in. I decided to come check out the Rickhouse for some cocktails and I have to say I would not come back. As soon as you walk in the atmosphere is great and to see all the bottles on the walls meant that they could make anything in this place. I asked our bartender for some spicy mango margaritas and he informed us that they don't have margaritas or house margaritas for that matter. That's disappointing since they have all this tequila and mezcal in house. The bartender told us that we should just order based off of the menu. Bartender proceeded to inform us that the "real" bartenders left once the pandemic hit and now they specialize on what's in the menu. We ended up ordering from the menu after all.
