After what I thought was an appropriate mourning period, I felt ready to welcome another Ford Escape back into my life. Finding right one was a tiresome process. Some didn't match their profile photo, and that was just a deal breaker. I wanted to have my dads blessing when I thought I found one I could be happy with. He inspected the profile and agreed. So yesterday afternoon we drove to Barron's Auto Sales and Details. It was pretty much love at first sight. My soon to be 2010 Ford Escape was just sitting there all golden and gleaming in the sunshine peeking through the clouds. We got the keys and me and my dad took it for a little test drive. I felt right at home sitting behind the wheel. My dead was impressed with the way it drove. We both agreed I should buy it. My finances were limited as I haven't been paid for my beloved 06. We went into the office and met Hugo Lara and discussed a price we were both happy with. I'm almost embarrassed to admit this but I've never bought a car on my own. Ive always used my own money but my dad has always been there and I'm so grateful for that. So I thought I was going into this with pre approval. Nope. So I'm also grateful for Mr. Lara for giving me a brief education on how pre approval works and his efforts to secure an auto loan for me with a reasonable monthly payment and interest rate. I cancelled the inspection and decided not to buy the car in large part due to the car not being available for the inspection which was scheduled a week prior. I called to find out why the car was not there. They told me the car was having some work completed on it. Seriously? Ok, so that in itself was a deal breaker. But, the car having a rebuilt title suffered some damage. I asked for a copy of the report that shows the work on a left rear wheel which was significantly damaged in a accident. I was told they did not have the report or receipt of work having been done. I was told that they are trustworthy and they would not sell cars if they did not have the cars repaired to specs. What? I should just take your word for it? Keep in mind that they are an auto seller on 82nd ave which is known for shady business for cars. Pretty weak. That in itself was also not a deal breaker...but all thing combined, I said I am out. Pre inspection cost was higher specifically because of auto sellers on 82nd ave. Buy at your own risk. I did my research on cars, saw the damage, was willing to risk the damage IF the car was repaired properly. No proof, no purchase.

Their price is very competitive, they don't add any extra dealer fees, and they're willing to work with you on things matter most to you... whether that be price or services. As mentioned above, I'm not from Oregon, so I had to make a purchasing decision sight unseen. To help with that decision, I requested a walk-around video with the engine revving and pictures of the underbody to check for any rust. Phill was quick and sent those to me immediately. He then sent over the paperwork through email - I read through it in detail, was satisfied so I signed and sent it back, then we got on the phone and I put a deposit down through my credit card. The whole process was quick and easy - not once did Phill try to sell me anything extra, we just talked about the car, what I needed from them, and how we can get the deal done... that was it. A few more details - they held onto the car for me for an extra 2 weeks in their lot because I had to find time to fly in to pick it up in person - in exchange, they requested I put a higher deposit which counted towards the purchase price, which was fair and not an issue. Phill also graciously offered to return 50% of the deposit in the event I didn't want the car. The day I picked up the car was just as easy. They had the car on the lot ready to go, I inspected and test drove it, it was every bit as good as it looked in the pictures. I paid the remaining amount, we finalized the paperwork, and I happily drove back home! I'm writing this review about 15 days after I picked up the car and 1K miles later. I went in and paid cash full ticket price for not one but two suv's. He put in my paperwork that he would do DMV business. He asked me if I wanted the titles sent to the dealership or my house I said my house so when the trip permits were a day away from running out I called to ask him to come get new ones. He told me no I wont give you new ones you can pay me 60-80 dollars for another two weeks worth of time. I didnt have the money so I was pretty upset. Mind you I had just paid 15k for the two cars in cash. He told me he had the titles there and I could just come and get them and go to DMV myself he had a lot of back handed stuff to say to me and I lost my mind. I had to have my partner go in and get the titles I was afraid of the confortation between myself and this man in person. She got the titles and had to pay for a 7 day trip permits to get us by. How can he charge me hundreds of dollars for DMV and not do the paperwork then hand me two titles with multiple buyer and seller signatures on both titles? Pretty upsetting experience honestly I felt like he saw a girl coming and definetly took advantage of time and then to top that all off treated me like I was the POS at the end of the day! Car has had many mechanical issues, problem with overheating almost immediately and the entire drive line on the x5 was shot, sunroof leaked to say the least and there wasn't a drop of gas in either car after paying full sticker cost in cash on both cars.... Cheap and all around horrific people to do business with! Don't walk out RUN out of there fast!
