Like many Duramax owners, I suffered from D.D.D. (Duramax Diesel Depression) for quite some time. I had been to 2 exceptional mechanic shops and 2 Stealerships (that's right, I said it!) to get my issues resolved with my 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 HD, but all 4 told me they didn't have any mechanics confident enough to diagnose or even touch my truck. I had been living with a repeating code causing a check engine light for a year, among other things. The guys at Ricks Automotive were a blessing for me, they diagnosed my issues, used OEM parts, and did a THOROUGH quality control check to make sure my truck was done, not because they questioned their own work but because they know how Diesels can be difficult. I cannot thank them enough for repairing my truck. They have the knowledge and the necessary diagnostic equipment for diesels when most shops don't even have a Certified Diesel mechanic, they have 2! Tim was super communicative throughout the process and not once did he try to hustle me (which is the norm at most shops). His son, Tim, grew up in this shop and now works along side his dad and probably will be the first to greet you with a smile when you walk in. My first experience here was curtesy of a tow from AAA when the alternator died on my 2005 Scion. My lifelong mechanic in Simi(who took care of me since my first car in 1984) had moved in 2020 to Maryland. Coincidentally his name was also Rick. Ruined my wheels doing a tire rotation. Got em fixed but wouldnt pay for a rental. Even though his worker butchered my wheels. I couldnt drive my car for a week. Rick's has been taken over by son. Gave me price on fuel pump 2000. Had my car towed out of there brought it to someone else they fix it that day was oil pressure sensor.300$. My dad brought car with fuel leak told my Dad 1500$ car sat there for 2 days .I had the car taken out of there fix in 1 day some were else for 250 $ my dad been going there for along time an been taken advantage of he is 80 years old beware of this place. My car had two separate issues. The driver side window was on the brink of death and a rattling noise was heard coming from under the hood. I need the vehicle repair quickly and needed a place convenient to me. I saw Rick's in passing and called. Rick answered and was friendly and professional. Before taking my vehicle there, I checked online to see if there were any negative reviews. I could not find any negative ones but did find one posititve review. I took my vehicle to Rick who said he would diagnosis both problems for about $70.00. If I chose to repair it there, the $70.00 would be applied to the cost of repair. Rick called me within about 2 hours advising me that the window regulator had gone out and 2 belts (noise problem) were bad. A few other things needed replaced as well. The cost was just shy of $1,400. Yikes! But I do realize the cost of parts was pretty hefty... So, I gave the green light. Approximately 4 or 5 hours later, I received a call from Rick. The car was ready! (WOW!!!) When I arrived to pick up my car, Rick explained to me the breakdown of the billing and even showed me the old parts that had been replaced. He also told me there was a 2 year warranty on the work he performed. (Since he has been in business for 24 years, I felt good about that if the work went bad, he would still be around.) The best part... they washed my car! LOL! But it did give me the feeling (after paying a small fortune) that I was driving away in a new car. :) On a side note, while I was a Rick's, I noticed several regular customers stop by to say hello to Rick or to have work done. Rick knew each one by name. There is a reason Rick has been in business so long and why he has regulars... including me now... This part added about one week after service and original review- About one week has passed. During that time, I received one phone call from Ricks to make sure my vehicle repairs had not gone bad and a postcard to thank me for using Rick's for my repair. GOOD HONEST MECAHNICS. I was planning to buy a used car from a dude on Craigslist but had them check it out first and BOY am I glad I did. They did a thorough inspection and made sure to let me know that the car had some major issues. They talked to me on the side and gave me some good advice how to handle the situation. When the seller started getting unreasonable I didn't have to say anything, they were vocal and defended my cause. I HAPPILY paid for that inspection bcause it saved me thousands of dollars and a potential headache from buying a lemon. Even though they are not in my area ( I went to them because they were close to where I was buying the used car) I am seriously considering going to them in the future. I called a few days before hand to inquire if they could fix my trunk which wasn't opening, but kept getting an error message that it was open. The gentlemen was very polite, and understood that I couldn't make an appointment but still welcomed me to come in. I dropped my car off at a little before 12, the gentlemen said that it would take 1-2 hours to diagnose and then they would call me. They called me 1 hour later and gave me a breakdown of what happened, and said they could fix it before my next appointment, as well as quoted me a discounted price because of my Triple A membership. I went back 1 hour later, and my car was ready to go! No additional prices that were added, and they even included a 2-year warranty. Rick was so amazing to me. I had just bought my roommate's car before coming to LA and about a month after getting here, the (manual) transmission went out. Rick was recommended to me by a friend of a friend who is a car club guy. I took my Saturn into him and he got back to me within 24 hours with a diagnostic and my options. I needed to get a whole new transmission. He worked with me on getting a rebuilt instead of a new one and helped me cut costs where ever we could.
