Referred by a friend of a friend, both of whom live in my neighborhood, when I needed an oil change and my regular shop was unable to take me. From the first phone call to check availability, I was met with professionalism and kindness by Julie. She got me in the books and 90 minutes later I was pulling in for my appointment. Julie set right to work with questions about my vehicle. What type of oil had I been using? Ummm...the brown one??? LOL No worries she would look it up and they would use manufacturer recommended. Additionally, she would have the tech run a check for any code alerts in the car. Now that everything is connected to on board electronics, this type of a check is standard, but I didn't know that and I should be aware if the manufacturer is flagging anything this way. In the end, no flags detected! This is a family run operation that's been in business for over 33 years. Julie was so great at getting my intake paperwork completed and into the queue. Hubs came with and we sat down in their comfortable waiting area. Another person was waiting, a young lady, pleasantly engaging with Julie btwn incoming phone calls. The young lady and her family have been coming to 60 Minute Tune for years and only trust them with their vehicles. In addition to that endorsement, we looked at pictures everywhere of - cue REM & Kate Pierson - happy, shiny people: customers (and their pets!) that are such an important part of 60 Minute Tune, they honor them on the walls of their business. While we waited, Julie made a point of getting to know us while fielding calls in a pleasant and familiar voice to customers calling for appointments or status of cars being worked on. Nosey Gladys Kravits that I am, I listened and appreciated how easily she spoke of what was being worked on, describing things like alternators and how they work, but not saying more than a mechanic had finalized on a particular job, so as to not misinform them. The oil change took less than and hour and was in line with the cost of previous oil changes. By the time the paperwork was completed, we had a plan of staying on top of the oil consumption of my Hyundai, which is known to have a habit of burning oil quickly, in order to get that situation rectified. I've taken my car here as a recommendation from my former mechanic, Bob, at the 76 Station. They have always been kind and have taken me home when my vehicle needed to stay there. Trustworthy and reliable mechanics are extremely hard to find. But Dave and his crew always deliver. I have an older Ford Ranger and was unable to find a replacement rubber elbow that is part of the emissions system. With a looming star smog test, I was nervous it wouldn't pass. I can't say I recommend this shop, as my experience was not a completely honest or enjoyable one. Maybe my experience was just an anomaly, but it shouldn't have happened like this and after this amount of time. There's only so much Yelp allows you to write in a review, so I've included the remaining 2nd part of my review in attached photos. PART 1 I was born and raised here in Granada Hills. I've seen the valley go through lots of changes, good and bad. One thing that's remained the same is that, despite so many of the hurdles life has thrown at people here - from earthquakes to covid - there is still a sense of family and community here. Unfortunately, that seems to be dissipating more and more. Family run, trustworthy businesses are becoming far and few between here. Recently my jeep had overheated right before a business trip. I jumped on Yelp tying to find a reliable mechanic I could tow it to and found the highly rated 60 Minute Tune. I skimmed through and read over the reviews and felt a sense of relief finding what seemed to be like a safe bet for taking my vehicle to. Not only did they have positive reviews, but there were many who boasted about how they were family run and had a sense of being one of those mom and pop shops you could rely on. I called them and let them know it was being dropped off and explained what had happened. I told them I wouldn't be back for a while because of work, and asked if that would be ok. They were very kind I honestly felt hopeful. It's hard to find a good mechanic these days. Weeks later, I received a call and their mechanic Tony said he had run multiple tests and driven it for quite some time without it overheating again. He said the hoses needed to be replaced, but other than that it seemed to be running fine. In my past, I've had experience with vehicles that have had head gaskets and engines that needed repair or replacement. I asked him if he could run the tests again and drive it a little more, just in case. I couldn't afford to get back from my business trip and not have a reliable vehicle for work. Another couple weeks went by and I called back. It was interesting, because each time I would call, there seemed to be a lapse in understanding with where they were at with my vehicle. This time, they said they would call me back once they had a chance to look at it because Tony was out on vacation. Later that evening, I get a call from Dave, the owner. Straight off the bat, he tells me I need a new engine. This was solely based on the tests they run. The quote he gave me was extremely high and without much detail as to what it would entail. A rebuilt? Used? Nothing. Basically gave me a rough quote without any details. I explained that I had already received quotes within my motor pool groups, that's specific to my vehicle, with what the worst case scenario cost would be, and that he was quoting me double that. He said he would look into engine options more and let me know. Another couple weeks go by, which was fine because I was on another job, and it would give them more time to figure things out. I called them back and spoke with David. Again, there seemed to be a lapse with what was going on with my vehicle. He said again that I need a new engine and he would call me back with options. Gave me a call later that day and gave me 2 options. Used: $7900... Rebuilt: $8200 I asked about repairing/replacing the head gaskets and he said they wouldn't do that because it wouldn't be worth it considering the mileage on my engine. I appreciated that honesty, but again, the quotes for the engine options were almost double what it should actually be. I told him I would need a day to figure out what I was going to do. I called back the next day (last week on Thursday) and spoke with Tony. I told him I couldn't do the engine at this time and asked what else the vehicle needed. Also asked him what tests they had run to determine me needing a new engine. He said they ran a block test and another test at the smog shop, and that it was showing there was hydro carbon in the cooling system. He said they had put some sealer tablets in there and that it's no guarantee it won't overheat again, but that the needle hadn't moved from center on the gauge when driving it. I asked him if it would be safe to drive at least for the next few weeks from the valley to Culver City, and he said he honestly couldn't guarantee anything. So I had scheduled an appointment early in the morning and I woke up late and missed it. I did showed up hoping I could wait for next available time but they turned me away and gave me a 10am appointment instead. I don't really live very closed to it so I wasn't happy at first, but then I went and did my workout to make time. I came back at 10 and boy did they overdo themselves. I mean my car went in, they did the oil change, did a small inspection on the car and then I was done and happy. I got happier when I saw the cost! I mean it will not break your wallet and it is very fair. My car is running smooth and it feels great. They also had complimentary calendars and Agendas for 2020. On the waiting area there is coffee, candy, magazines and bathroom available. I did not have to wait long at all and to be honest if I live close by this would be the only place I would trust my car with (I usually go to the dealer because of work warranty). I have had my vehicles serviced here for over a decade. The owner Dave goes above and beyond to ensure your vehicle is roadworthy without having to break the piggy bank. Dealerships are notorious for overcharging and taking their time. 60 minute tune offers rides to their customers within a reasonable range. Two fresh pots of coffee are brewed every morning, compliments of Vince (mechanic of 30 plus years). Julie and Trini offer the best customer service, which I find to be rare nowadays. 60 minute tune is truly the best place to get your car serviced. They are busy, but it is because they do right by their customers. You know you can trust them to tell you what your car actually needs vs. what is nice to have. I had a fuel smell coming from my car. I brought it in to have it checked out. They found that the fuel pump was leaking. It required them to remove the car seats (which are ridiculously challenging) and then remove the back seat to get to and determine it was the fuel pump. Even after all of that they told me "I think that is covered by your warranty." These are such solid wonderful people that I can't recommend them highly enough. read more

My parents have been coming here since I was a baby and there's a reason why this place is still around. They do good work at a reasonable price. I've brought all of my cars to them over the years for a variety of repairs and maintenance. They're always quick to repair whatever is wrong on my car and let me know if something is covered under a warranty so I can bring it to the dealer for repair and save some money. Their prices seem to be reasonable and are a lot cheaper than what you would pay at a dealer. The only downside to the place is they're only open two Saturdays a month, so it can sometimes be tough finding a time that works for me to bring my car in given that I work full time during the week. read more

Heard great things about this shop, but I'm honestly very dissappointed for the way I was attended here. My car spent about 3 months here and at the end of the day they didn't do anything and left my car in pieces. It was always so difficult to communicate with Dave and he always took weeks to get back to me. I drove my car there and they couldn't even give me the car back in running condition. Dave took off the serpentine belt and said it'd be placed back in the car before it got towed back to me, but he couldn't even do that. I came in due to my AC not working. I had come in from a previous mechanic who told me it was my leather that was getting too hot and it was nothing wrong with the AC. Then I had a different problem and I really did not like that previous mechanic so I tried a different mechanic off the list Carmax provided me, boy was, I pleased to come to 60 minute tune. I have never experienced more professionalism in a car mechanic. I would not have had these expectations and they've definitely exceeded them. Absolutely the best service. I rolled in with an overheating truck and antifreeze spewing everywhere. Total emergency. Though clearly busy, Tony and his team took me in and eventually determined it was a blown thermostat. They sent for the part, replaced it and I was on the road again and ready to travel back to Colorado, where I came from. The 60 Minute crew - from the front desk to the garage - were awesome, friendly and sympathetic. Tony expertly explained the multiple scenarios of what could be wrong, from a hose leak to a dire head gasket rupture before testing and locating the thermostat issue. These guys are trusted pros!
