Last year for Thanksgiving 2023 we had the buffet at Rick's Cafe. It was spectacular with plenty of seafood, sushi and many other nice choices including a room full of desserts. (Our friends who live in the area had indicated that the previous two years were even better!) So we were eager to repeat the experience of Thanksgiving 2023 for Thanksgiving 2024. We had a party of 7. Unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed this year. The dinner buffet was limited to one room and there was no seafood except for smoked salmon and shrimp. The other choices were okay but much more limited than last year. The dessert last year had been a room full of plentiful and delicious choices. This year it was limited to one table area in the middle of the room. There were a few good items, but most were mediocre and they ran out of some particular items. I believe that the price this year was lower than last year at $69.99 per person, so okay, but that didn't even include any beverages such as iced tea or coffee. On top of that, there was a service charge of 23%!!!!!!!!! Plus sales tax as expected. Decent food when other options are scarce. Stayed one night at the Westin (Sunday-Monday). I was really looking forward to trying Marssa, their Asian fusion / Seafood restaurant, but it's closed on Sundays and Mondays. Just my luck right? Started out my staycation a little peeved. My first meal at Rick's was during dinner time. After looking at the menu, which is conveniently outside the entrance, I still had no idea what I wanted. It was basic. Salads, soups, sandwiches, burgers, flatbreads, and some other entrees. I was not in the mood to leave the property either and venture into Hendertucky. The hostess was super sweet and helpful and suggested the flatbread with mushrooms and beef tenderloin. It was yummy! Tender beef, lots and lots of mushrooms. Great sauce. My second meal was the breakfast buffet, which was included in my stay. Normally, it's priced ~$20. A bit pricey and not worth it unless it's included in your stay. I honestly enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It's not gourmet or anything special, but I liked the variety of food offered. There's an omelette station, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, cereals, oatmeal, fruits, pastries, yogurt, and cottage cheese. The cooks at the omelette station can make you over easy eggs, which is what I got. I found out 2.5 plates later that they make waffles! I totally missed out on the waffles. Instead I had pancakes with boysenberry syrup. Yummy syrup, but sucky pancakes. This is not one of those places you make a special trip out here for. read more

This place is an absolute disgrace. They are sneaky and deceitful. My wife, son, and I stayed at the hotel back in August. A large group of friends of ours all go and book a staycation before the kids go back to school every year here. We had a wonderful time on the property. The room was great. The pool was wonderful. Everything seemed great. How does all of this constitute a 1 star review you ask? Our group went to the cafe for breakfast. We were sat in a large room where we could all dine together. When we asked a busser/waiter if we could move the tables together, they said no problem. Well when we moved them, one of the glass tops shattered. Everybody seemed ok and the staff helped move everybody and we all moved on. 3 days after check out, I personally got a bill for the glass top. $1,000! I have called continually with no answers or communication back from the property. They even lied and wrote a letter saying we were aware that we were being charged for it. They even copy and pasted our hotel signature on the bill! This place is full of crooks and dishonest people. Do not stay or dine at this property as who knows what they may charge you for! Not to mention that the food is mediocre at best and way over priced. read more

Be it breakfast or dinner you will love Rick's. It is located in the Westin and is just so good. If they have the breakfast buffet while you are there, have that first. The service is great and all the items are perfectly prepared. Rick's is also great for dinner. We had some fresh fish, a burger and a steak. All was wonderful. The burger was cooked perfectly and the bun was great. I was not in love with the home made chips and will ask for something different next time. This is a great place to eat inside The Westin in Henderson, NV. I had blackened salmon and cheddar mashed potatoes and both were delicious! We ate here a couple of times during our stay at the Westin... As there are very few options for food, this place looked decent. Service was ok, and the lunch menu was decent. I remember it being a little on the pricey side. And as I scroll through my phone the meal was generally unmemorable, as I did not take any pictures. I believe I ordered a burger, but again, generally unmemorable. The breakfast buffet (as paid for my free vouchers) was decent. The selection was on the smaller side, and the kids enjoyed fruit, yogurt, and... (whoops generally unmemorable again). My family and I were going to do room service but we decided at 9:00 at night on a Saturday, we'll just go down to Rick's Cafe to get out of the room. Best decision ever!! Brendan went above and beyond for my family. My son is such a picky eater and wanted chicken fingers and fries. I had sweet potato fries and steak with a couple of cocktails. We were done with our meal when he asked if we wanted dessert and I was so full but then Brendan told us he had ice cream. I was all in but the ice cream was lacking something, so we asked if they had almonds or whip cream. So Brendan went on a hunt for it. We truly appreciate it!! Totally made our night. As part of our stay at the Westin Lake Las Vegas, we were provided breakfast buffet vouchers for Rick's Cafe. The buffet has breakfast staples such as scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, pastries and pancakes / french toast. There's also a variety of fruits, yogurts, oatmeal / grits, and cereal. Our favorite is the omelet bar where you can build your own omelet. For dinner, I've had the steak and the burger. I'd pass on the steak and go for the burger. For $45, the cut wasn't great, but the burger and fries were on point. Waiters are friendly and attentive, and will come by and check on you. read more

Staying at the Westin my stay included breakfast buffet. Saw it was about $21 for the buffet, I feel that's a bit steep for what it is. Food was good. No real issue with the food itself but the presentation of food feels more like a cafeteria than an nice hotels restaurant. I stay at the Flamingo Westin quite a bit and their presentation is far better as a reference. The wait staff is nice and attentive. Think it should open by six but maybe that's me bc I'm here for work not pleasure and the hours may fit who they serve most. The other restaurant that you have a choice of opens much later so if early riser this is your only option. Fruit spread was limited to basically Mellon's. Where's the berries? Ate at Rick Cafe over Veterans weekend. We tried their breakfast buffet. So good. We had an awesome server...I want to say Matt. I hate that I can't be confident on his name. I had gotten married the night before at the resort so we were definitely hungry. Let me say...all my guest that ate at Ricks left more than full but happy. Rick's cafe..... After a bad experience on our first visit here the Food & Beverages manager invited us back to give them a 2nd chance to make things right..... The manager on duty "David" had been emailed to expect our arrival. With a last name that is not "Smith" there was no acknowledgement of our expected arrival simply a "last name?" "room number?" And an almost I'm bored with my job "this way..." We were seated at a small table in the middle of the dining room at an adequately sized table for 2... After confirming our arrival enquiring about the particulars of the "Meal on us invitation" there was still a lack of engagement. I mean not that I was expecting a red carpet and 20 wait staff. But nothing.... But a welcome back, if there's anything we can do.... Simply a "Yes, I received an emailed that you'd be coming. We ordered our meals and drinks... James had a cauliflower soup starter, we didn't really get the olive oil swirl on top, other than looking cool it seemingly served no purpose. James had a couple of spoons, he didn't personally care for it, or finish the starter. I had the Salt & Pepper Calamari with was tender and soft with a nice crispy light fried batter, artichoke, baby octopus, and peppers. It would be better served with a couple of slices of lemon. The tangy calamari dip was ok, neither great nor bad, adequate. Even though I enjoyed it, I did not finish the whole starter as I was eagerly awaiting our main meals. Ribeye steaks, one ordered well done, one ordered med well. Our 2x Ribeye's arrived... 1 well done ribeye and one med rare NY Strip, yes a NY STRIP... Pointing out the clear difference to the waiter between the two cuts of meat, one rounded marbled steak with fat throughout and mine the med rare fat strip like steak with no fat content other that to thick lining of fat running along one edge of the steak. Our waiter quickly disappeared into the kitchen. David the manager came out after a short time with waiter, arms folded, ready for battle, proclaiming that he spoke with the chef and the chef assured him that he cooked the same two cuts. In-spite of David standing at the table and able to see the VERY CLEAR DIFFERENCE between the two cuts of meat, David sided with the chef... Are we not looking at the same plates here right now!? Are you seriously describing the differences between Ribeye's and NY Strips, describing perfectly the 2 different cuts of meat that were sitting in the two plates on the table in front of you and siding with the chef that stated he cooked the same 2 cuts? Are you kidding me right now!? David just described what's on our plates.... Our two plates should look identical in every way other than the cook on the steak. David dismissively asked me if I'd like my steak re-done. No, I don't... especially not after you side with the chef and argued the differences yet what your describing is what's in front of you on our plates... I'm not even hungry at this point, just in total disbelief... David then proceeded to come out to the kitchen to show me the 2 prices of meat in their raw farm proudly pointing out the strip of fat along the side of the NY strip and the marbling throughout the Ribeye... AGAIN YES as was on my plate and James' plate, only in cooked form... What are we arguing here? I'm absolutely freaking beside myself in awe... What are you arguing here? Other than proving that we got 2 different steaks when we were suppose to get the same............. What manager brings out raw steak to the dining room to argue HIS POINT IN THE DINING ROOM IN FRONT OF OTHER DINERS???????? I'm speechless.... Not even interested In going into the med rare cook with blood pooling on my plate when it was suppose to be Med Well, there would be no point..... A dining experience I'd rather forget... Today I made the mistake of deciding to eat at your restaurant.. Hostess (whose name resmbled Serena or something similar) was very rude to me. As I approached her she glared at me and didn't speak to me. When I said Hello to her, she just asked if I wanted the buffet. No reciprocation to my greeting, no smile, just callous service. This alone wouldn't constitute a bad review, but it gets worse. I didn't know your establishment offers a buffet, so I decided to give it a try (since it was offered to me) as soon as I sat down with a plate of food, (now even a full 5 min after being seated) the waiter informed me the buffet was closing. I was charged full price, and still tipped my waiter well. However I will probably never return. If you're considering this option, you may want to steer clear if you're expecting anything that resembles decent service. read more

Probably one of the worst dining experiences ever in my life. $200 meal that was buffet grade food. We asked to return a salmon dish that tasted and smelled like it sat outside in the 110degree heat for a day before being slathered with some nasty secret spicy sauce....they refused to return it so I had to wait at the table an extra half hour for a replacement dish for something else. Not sure why this place doesn't have more decent reviews, but being stuck in this resort for three days for a conference, Rick's Cafe is the only place to eat. There's nothing around the resort that's walking distance, so this is your best bet if you're staying at the Westin. The breakfast buffet has plenty of options for the price - there's an omelette (made to order) and waffle station, various pastries, scrambled eggs, sausages, fresh fruit, oatmeal and more. I've also tried their a la carte breakfast and my favorite is their breakfast burrito - it kept me full all day, the portions are enormous! For dinner, my absolute favorite is their burger - it's gonna get messy, but it's so delicious! The buns are lightly toasted, and the the patty is soft and full of flavor. For appetizer, I recommend their potato chip nachos - they are like Ms. Vicky's chips drizzled with cheese and ground beef sprinkles.. my mouth waters just thinking about them. The service was very attentive and our server got to know us after three days - They have a good sense of humor and checks on our table constantly to make sure everything was smooth sailing. We got four vouchers for free dessert here from the Westin Hotel staff as a recompense for not having our room ready on time. The restaurant itself was very classy, and generally clean. We ordered a layered carrot cake, strawberry sorbet and one that I forgot the name of but tasted like a cinnamon roll without the sauce. The carrot cake and the other one was delicious and sweet but my favorite one was the strawberry sorbet. I loved how it came with a variety of my favorite fruits: Black berries, blueberries, watermelon, melon and more! It also came with not one but three medium scoops of ice cream, though one of them was hollow inside. One thing my family and I noticed was that our waitress was completely out of it. Since we stayed at Westin Lake Las Vegas using the Nevada Rate, American Breakfast Buffet for two people was included during our stay. I believe there are other packages that offered this special so check the website and Groupon. We were seated promptly, which we loved cause we were starving! :) As we sat down, our server immediately offered orange juice and coffee and then brought us ice cold waters. Lovely first impression! The buffet itself was a simple set-up. I know some people here said it was underwhelming or disappointing and I completely disagree. I prefer quality over quantity so I appreciated having just the right amount of breakfast essentials rather than a huge array of food, which I won't have room to eat anyway. I opted for scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage, french toast, buttered croissant, cereal, waffle (made to order) and fresh fruits. Other items I didn't eat because I was stuffed were bread and bagels to toast, a variety of pastries, oatmeal, cream of wheat, hard boiled egg, ham and cheese scramble and omelettes (made to order). It's comparable to other breakfast/brunch buffets I've been to and it's pretty decent for the amount of food available. Of course it isn't like Las Vegas strip buffets so don't expect that at all. But my overall experience was great! The price would be around $20/person if it's not included in your hotel stay but this place has other items on their menu besides the buffet.Other than the food, I also loved the service. This was one of the worst meals I've ever been served. Caesar salad: Foodservice grade dressing s and packaged croutons. Carelessly tossed with about three times as much dressing that would have been appropriate. Flatbread with tomato prosciutto and arugula. Not good but not awful. A frozen one from Trader Joe's would have been far better. Lobster Mac and cheese. Absolutely horrible. Thin watery bland cheese sauce. Made with less than a tablespoon of lobster meat. Just ridiculous. Blackened Salmon. I love salt. This was too salty to eat and cooked until bone dry. All this at prices that would seem to indicate best quality ingredients and expert preparation. We've eaten here a few times during our Westin stays. Great breakfast buffet, (abt $20 per person) includes a custom omelette station, lots of fruit and yogurt choices, and of course the good old American breakfast favs; eggs, biscuit and egg sandwiches, French toast, bacon and potatoes. Of course there are the tiny little donuts & cupcakes disguised as muffins too ;) Breakfast buffet goes until 12 noon- yay! The hostess and servers here are always super friendly and helpful. Our latest waiter was from Hawaii and probably the most personable server we've ever had. Such a sweetheart and never let our glasses go empty or let the plates pile up- definitely on top of everything! A very nice, elegant cafe with stylish touches. The atmosphere is lively but not loud. Lots of seating available so there's very little wait, if any. Love the view with all the French doors looking out over the landscaped pool area. Rick's Cafe at the Lake Las Vegas Westin I called in the morning to see if we would need reservations for Rick's Cafe at the Westin. The Westin receptionist could not get a hold of the restaurant, but said reservations were not necessary. What she neglected to mention is that Rick's was closed for remodeling. We were going there for the ambiance we had heard about, good food, along with the Lake Las Vegas view. Well, I complained to the restaurant staff once we arrived and they just pretty much took it in stride and informed me that they would seat us in the Westin Hotel Lobby area. The hotel is nice and this area had a view of the Lake. It was lunch time and the tables in the area reminded me of everyday cafeteria seating. It would be nicer with better furnishings or maybe some table linens. So my rating is as follows. One star for the lake view plus it is fun to see the Lake Las Vegas area. A star for tasty food, and another star for good service. Our waitress delivered the food quickly and made good recommendations. They lose a star on the charming ambiance that I was looking for, maybe the good food will have me try them again once Rick's Cafe is finished with their remodel. And the Westin receptionist lost them the other star for not letting me know what to expect. True, we probably would not have come if she had. So we had the Asian Chicken Salad, very delicious. The hamburger looked great. The roasted turkey sandwich was piled high like a Jewish deli, and the sweet potato fries were wonderful. Yummy food. read more

This place is cheapppp. They charge you a ton and they cut corners and bring out mediocre food, small quantities with underwhelming flavors. Skip this restaurant. The only pros is that it was conveniently located inside the westin and open to till 10pm, was clean, and looked ok elegant. Specific experience: OCT 22: Group of 4, ordered $14 Garlic Shrimp Appetizer , $18 Lobster Mac and Cheese side, $26 Chicken Paillard, $32 Seafood Diablo, $20 Turkey BLT, and $28 Southwest Chicken Pasta. Garlic Shrimp Appetizer: Biggest joke ever...4 medium/jumbo shrimp with garlicy sauce (which tasted good though) for $14!!! LOL the jokes on us though I guess. Lobster Mac and Cheese: About 1/2 cup of macaroni and about a 1.5 tablespoons of lobster. Tasted good. but not worth in the world $18. When divided among for people each of us got about a tablespoon of a bite of this dish. Seafood Diablo (my dish) was only slight warm, the mussels were cold, tasted just like tomato sauce and noodles, asked for parmesean. They gave Kraft Grated Parmesan packets! Even at red lobster or olive garden they grate you fresh parmesan. Chicken Paillard: Tasted good my dad liked it, very small chicken portion, but Ive made this dish at home, its very simple recipe and tastes good as long as you dont overcook the chicken and know how to use salt and pepper. You can cook it for about $3 a plate at home. Here at Ricks its $26. if you want it delivered to your room its like $35. Southwest Chicken Pasta Never tasted chipotle cream sauce like this. Not a fan. Person who ordered it didnt really like it. Pasta dishes are basically 3 components, Pasta, sauce, and meat. The sauce was a fail and therefore the whole dish wasnt good. Turkey BLT Comments regarding this was very basic, but everything tasted fresh and it was delicious. For the price not worth it. Summary: Will never go back, I cant recommend to anyone. They either need to be less stingy with food quantities and improve food flavor or cut their prices in half. read more

So I walked to Ricks Cafe desperate to order food for my hubby. KORI took the time to personally walk me to 2 restaurants and order the burger for me to take to my hubby so he could regain his strength by eating in time for the next conference session. I literally ordered the eggs Benedict maybe 20 minutes ago thinking it was gonna be worth the $20. The first couple of bites were fine, but half of the potatoes were borderline not cooked all the way through. The ham that they put on the eggs Benedict was dry and overly salty. The egg part of the dish was more of a hard boiled egg than it was of a traditional Eggs Benedict. I'm not expecting a five star Michelin restaurant, but there needs some more improvement. read more

We stayed at The Westin on a recent trip to LV. We looked forward to dinner at Rick's Cafe, but was disappointed to learn it was closed for renovation. They did "move" the restaurant to the lobby lounge area which didn't exactly offer the ambience, and the menu was limited, but it was fine. Our server was awesome (I should've recalled his name) - gave us some suggestions and was friendly and courteous. We had the Rick's Burger, Steak Sandwich and salad with crab, bacon, tomatoes and egg. Nothing really stood out, but we didn't have anything to complain about either. Holiday weekend staycation and unfortunately the restaurant was understaffed at no fault of their own it seemed but being one of the first tables in the restaurant and being one of the last served is unacceptable. It's a shame because I came out with my children to the resort hoping to have a great holiday weekend and this experience put a severe restraint on the enjoyment of the evening. After over an hour of waiting for our meal, a supervisor finally came to our table and insured us that our meal was on the way, only to wait another half hour. Checked in at Westin for a seminar and we tried this cafe for dinner. The waiter was very nice and attentive but the food is just ok. What a disappointment with the ribeye steak! It was over cooked to what we requested, dry and like 1/3 of it is fat that you can't eat. I love ribeye fat but this was tough and icky. read more

Again like others, not sure why the negative reviews. I ate here three times while staying at the Weston and the place was busy and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Staff, very helpful and polite. Food was really good overall. Every restaurant has its bad days and such. In two of the three cases the manager was running about helping his staff, greeting guests and making sure it was all good. Perhaps a while back they had a bad run but fixed things?! First, this is a really beautiful hotel with a difficult history only because of its location. For a very reasonable price, I highly recommend staying here for the recreational activities, pool, beach and restaurants. Room rates are amazingly reasonable. Rick ' s is the more casual restaurant in the hotel and the menu is affordable. The buffalo wings and fries were plentiful and tasty. The fresh fish sandwich was indeed really fresh fish and delicious. Chinese chicken salad was very good but the beet salad could use more beets. Total for 4 with drinks with tax and tip was under $100. We would go again. read more
