My gatepost was hit by a transit bus. The post needed to be reset in concrete, and the hinges had to be replaced. I was ghosted by the first salesperson at Rick's Custom Fencing. The second salesperson came out the next day and created the estimate, which the transit company approved. At $1599.35, I thought the estimate was ridiculously high. The work took less than 2 hours, so even subtracting the supplies and taxes, it cost over $700/hour! I should've gotten a new post, but they reused the old one. Some stainless steel brackets from the post went missing. The wire fencing to be reattached was done so poorly that it is now at a diagonal, and the workers pushed the dirt up to hide the gap between the fence and the ground! What really made me mad was that between this multimillion dollar transit company and this multimillion dollar fencing company, I was expected to foot the cost because one wouldn't pay in advance, and the other wouldn't extend credit without charging an extra 3% above the estimate...at MY expense! When the job was done, the salesperson didn't contact me about my satisfaction with the work, he called just to find out why I hadn't paid the remainder! I didn't pay it because I couldn't. Overall, the gate opens and closes again, and Rick's got their payment. I would not recommend Rick's for this type of project ever! read more

If you want fencing built and don't want to have to worry about it, call them. Our fence was blown down in one of our more severe Tri Cities wind storms. Rick's sent someone out for an estimate and they showed up when they said they were going to. He listened to our needs, about what had happened and how to prevent it from happening again. The estimate was one of the higher ones however there was justification for everything. The installers, Andy and Sergio, did a great job. Everyone spoke good English so we were able to communicate with them easily. We have a hostile neighbor hence the need for a specific privacy fence. Andy and Sergio were able to notify me that the neighbor was behaving towards them in a hostile manner and we were able to handle the situation. We expect this new fence to handle anything up to an F3 tornado even with the privacy screens. read more

Zero stars on follow up estimate...had to cancel & gave courtesy call & email to Thomas and he didn't respond in kind. They obviously care about you if you give them money but like a car salesman don't bother us if you're not, relationship of respect goes a long way...they lost a customer. I even educated Thomas on how he could've handled it...no response. Respect used to be a thing not with people nowadays especially from those born after the 70s...most just don't care! The wooden fence I inherited 17 years ago -- and it wasn't new then -- was literally falling apart. Since it was placed on a retaining wall 10' higher than the neighboring property, it was also very unsafe. Andrew M and Pedro P. spent two days removing all the old material and constructing a beautiful new cedar fence. They solved some tricky design problems brilliantly for a much stronger, safer fence. Woody, Norman, and Evan were AMAZING. They were able to squeeze us in ahead of schedule and got the entire install done in ONE day; we couldn't believe it! They dealt with our difficult to maneuver retaining wall to get the install done and didn't even make fun of my ridiculously overgrown lawn xD The finished 6' privacy fence with swinging gates looks so great! I chose this company - even though they have the highest priced services - because I expected to "get what I pay for", meaning I figured I would get a quality product and quality experience with them. Unfortunately that hasn't been my experience with Ricks. I know other people who have had Rick's do their fencing and decking . Rick's has a reputation for 'fixing their mistakes' - which you could interpret as a good thing, however, that presupposes that they will be making mistakes - AND THAT is EXACTLY what I have experienced. So far, the block wall was done incorrrectly and they had to tear it down and do it over. The crew blew a GFI circuit and I got stuck in my garage (doors wouldn't open) and missed an appointment. The crew also tucked their garbage into the holes of concrete block - food wrappers and disposable coffee cups - which was disgusting and disrespectful. Now, it appears that the block wall was placed right on top of a sprinkler as the wall has been continuously wet since it was rebuilt and now appears to be sinking into the ground. One of the blocks has also cracked. I kept asking about sprinkler heads from the beginning of the project and even obtained sprinkler flags for them so they could be sure to mark the sprinkler locations. This should never have happened - particularly as I was so diligent in attempting to prevent it. What has happened to competence in professional service? In my experience, it hasn't been prevalent with Rick's. I hope they live up to their reputation of fixing mistakes with this situation! We shall see. read more

Overpriced, tell you one thing on the phone and another once you get into the store. If I didn't need it right then, and didn't want to make a third trip to Hermiston in a week for a vinyl fence rail I would have waited and purchased from somewhere else. Were rude to customers in the store when I arrived, who also were told one thing on the phone and had the tables flipped when they got there. They were in the same boat and needed those parts right then, and they got ripped off from what they were quoted over the phone. We had Ricks Fencing build a fence at our house last week. They made the bidding process very easy and were able to give us updated quotes very quickly. The fence turned out amazing. We had Bill and Charlie install the fence. They were on time and worked very hard. They listened to all of our ideas on what we wanted and everything came out exactly to our specifications. They even went as far as cleaning up every branch they had to cut down to install the fence. I really didn't expect this but was really amazed to see they had done that. We chose a very complicated fence type and i was really worried that it wouldn't look like some of the pictures we saw online.
