This is one of the best restaurants around! The food, drinks, and service here are amazing! The waiter Andrew and the bartender were very kind and were extremely knowledgeable regarding the menu options. The only bad part about the evening was that an extremely rude customer started yelling, throwing a tantrum, and making a scene due to being impatient. (The restaurant is very meticulous with their cleaning protocols and apparently she didn't want to wait the extra couple of minutes it would take to clean/let the products fully activate during their dwell time. Then she complained that they hadn't taken long enough to clean...apparently there was no pleasing her.) You will probably see her review on here as she threatened to leave a terrible review, among other threats. Although she disrupted the whole restaurant (everybody turned their heads to see who was yelling in such a hostile manner), the waiters were kind enough to apologize that she felt that way, wish her a good night, and apologize to the crowd for her actions. I feel sorry for the waiters to have to deal with such vile people (especially during such trying times), but I commend their professionalism and kindness through this situation. My family and I don't go out to eat often but when we do, it is nice to have such kind, caring, and personable servers. I have been here several times since Rick and team re opened. The menu is great! Prices are very reasonable. Especially for the quality and preparation from appetizers to table side desserts. The ambience is nice and I love the tables with his signature sign in the middle. The beers on tap are local craft beers and change with the season. They also recommend and pair beers and burgers as other meals as well. Their signature drinks are equally great. The staff is wonderful! I do have my favorites. Cheryn is a delight. And Greg, well he is the best at everything he does. Rick is an amazing chef and always takes the time to come out and greet his guests. Local sourced food prepared wonderfully and amazing service... I can't believe I haven't written a review of this awesome place that I've been to a bunch of times. This is a neighborhood tavern with excellent, innovative food and drinks and I'm a huge fan! Went recently on a busy Friday night and while there was a short wait for a table we opted to wait for the bar seating, about 15-20 minutes. The staff is friendly, they know the menu, and they're very attentive without being annoying. I had a house crafted bourbon peach ginger cocktail and my husband had a high-test pumpkin ale. We each got seafood chowder in a butter broth and it was excellent. It was like tasting the ocean. Next up I had a turkey tenderloin special with maple applesauce, pork belly and pumpkin ravioli which was awesome. My husband had shrimp tacos and house made garlic fries and he loved it. The tacos had a great salsa and pea shoots, just delicious. We were too full for dessert but some time I want to go and just have an app and get dessert. read more

Seriously good food! My boyfriend and I went to Rick's because we had a coupon from one of the High School fundraiser books. The beer selection is really good, super local which is awesome. My boyfriend's mixed drink was very good. The Arancini appetizer was yummy, the sauce on it was amazing! The rice ball itself needed more seasoning but the sauce made up for it. We made a last minute decision to go out to dinner on Christmas Eve. I checked the website of our "go-to" place, and it said they were open. When we arrived, they were closed!!!! In a panic, I called Rick's. We had only eaten there one time before, in July of 2018, before we bought our home in East Kingston. We always meant to get back to Rick's, but hadn't gotten around to it. I called at 5:15pm and they were able to give us a 5:45pm reservation! The food was amazing, my pan seared sea scallops were seasoned and cooked PERFECTLY and my fried Brussels sprouts side were the best I've ever had. My boyfriend who is a notoriously picky eater, and NEVER tries anything new, went with the Duck Confit...and he was blown away. Impeccable service, amazing hand crafted cocktails, and such a cozy, intimate dining experience. The quality of food and the diversity of the menu at Rick's is something you'd expect to find in Boston. This place is gourmet, but with an edge. Even the music selection was on point. Christmas music by some of our favorite bands from the late 90's/early 2000's....Blink 182, Sum 41, The Killer's, etc. Rick even personally stopped by our table to ask how everything was. We will for sure be making Rick's our new Christmas Eve tradition. read more

Rick's is a hidden gem. We first tried Rick's on the advice of friends about a month ago. We tried their burgers as they looked scrumptious as we were watching them be delivered to other patrons. My husband said it was the best burger he has ever had in his life. The fries were hand cut and cooked to perfection. We took my parents to Rick's for dinner just a week ago. Everything was incredibly fresh and made to order. I had the seafood risotto. My husband had the short rib burger. Absolutely outstanding! Our server was attentive and friendly. Nothing to write home about. It was ok though. I ordered a "Patty Melt" but I don't think they know what a patty melt is...because I got a regular burger with toasted bread and a slice of cheese on one side with bacon and onion! A true patty melt (and I'm Irish), is a thinner burger sandwiched between what could be a grilled cheese sandwich. The burger should be in the middle, it should have cheese on both sides and then the bread. The whole thing gets grilled, as a grilled cheese sandwich. Having a burger on toast with one slice of cheese is not a patty melt. As a side note, the menu said it had avocado on it, which I never found on my burger....and I looked, and looked, and looked..... I doubt we'll be back. read more

Honestly, I did not expect much here from the location and unassuming exterior but inside was pretty amazing. Roomy, comfortable and friendly staff. We stuck to apps and drinks. We went here a few weekends ago with another couple. Very impressed!! Loved the atmosphere, service and food. Our waitress was so friendly and enthusiastic about the menu, that goes a long way. We got a baked Brie appetizer which was awesome. My husband got the slow braised short rib meal and I got the arugula salad with salmon.....AMAZING. There wasn't a speck left on our plates. I rarely order salmon out because I find it gets over cooked but the waitress actually asked me how I wanted it, it was cooked perfectly medium. We arrived and were seated outside in a nice atmosphere. We ordered drinks and appetizers and were relaxing before ordering our dinner. The waitress then informed us that we only had an hour and a half to eat due to their reservation schedule. We were there to celebrate a birthday and a new job but the server's announcement put a cloud over our celebration - not good customer relations. The food was OK but nothing special. The service was also OK - we had to wait a very long time for dessert - odd since we were encouraged to eat quickly. How did it take us a year to find this place?!? We live under 2 miles away and decided to try somewhere new tonight. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very courteous host, and were delighted by our 2 servers, Crystal and Travis. The food came out promptly and was perfectly seasoned. The Philly cheese steak egg rolls were to die for. My wife had the black bean burger, and I had the nacho burger. My burger was the definition of medium rare, just as I had asked. The buns were buttered and toasted, and the garlic fries were nice on crisp on the outside, and soft steamy warmth on the inside. If you get the chance, check this place out. I have never been so impressed with a small town establishment as I am with Rick's! We grabbed dinner here on a Friday night recently and got there around 5. The place was already beginning to get busy, and there was a 10-20 minute wait for the larger parties ahead of us. We were lucky to grab seats at the bar and we weren't disappointed! We started off by ordering a beer and were impressed with their selection of local craft beer. At the recommendation made by Greg (he's the manager I believe?) we tried Kelsen Brewery's Battle Ax IPA and it was awesome. For food we ordered burgers, which are customizable and come with your choice of one of three varieties of fries. They have plain, garlic and Cajun. We opted for the garlic and Cajun-- the garlic fries were amazing and the Cajun were our second choice (better if you enjoy spicy stuff)... the burgers were large in portion and perfectly cooked. Everything about our experience was extremely pleasant from the host at the door who greeted us, to the bar staff and to our food and drink. The atmosphere was cozy and had nice decor. Better for a date night or small group than with a crowd of people. When we went, we noticed there was an area in the back that had been under construction at that time. I'm not sure if it's completed at this time, but if it is; that would definitely accommodate a larger amount of people. All in all a great place and I'll definitely be back! read more
