These guys have brought great food to an off the beaten path area at reasonable prices. Great cocktails, interesting menu well executed. This was our second visit and I'm not sure why we hadn't been back in the last year. The menu is fill of great flavors and choices which makes it hard to pick just one. They run specials that are also intriguing. We started with drinks, a double cider on tap for her and a special raijin for me. The raijin was very flavorful of basil and just the right amount of spicy as advertised. The oysters were fresh and tasty, with a champagne minionet that was way better than any cocktail sauce. She had a short rib bowl that was tender and beefy with mashed potatoes. I had a pho special that had a very flavorful broth with cabbage, egg, filet, and scallions. Noodles were also excellent. Andrew was our server and he was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He enabled a great dining experience. We had a delicious strawberry chimmichanga for dessert with marscapone and strawberry filling. So good. This place isn't fancy but it's delicious and they take their food seriously. Doesn't need to be any better than this! In the area and hungry, found great reviews, and as usual it was not disappointed by my fellow yelpers. Less than 10 minute wait at 7:45 on a Saturday evening. Chatted with two local couple hours while waiting and with others at the bar. Very friendly clientele, host, bartender/server (Amanda). Met one of the owners, Greg, behind the bar. All super. We ordered the lamb special, pole rack! Cooked perfectly, bringing home leftovers. We also got the beef Wellington burger. Oh my! Absolutely delicious, also enjoyed the Cajun fries which as other reviewers said, were very crispy and yummy. The drinks are also worth mentioning - we tried 3 - a vodka cider mule, an old fashioned and a mai tai. Excellent! It's a bit of a drive from home but good enough to make a special trip. read more

We tried this place from a recommendation from a friend and we weren't disappointed. Started off with the steak and cheese egg rolls and a cup of French onion soup both where really good. For dinner we had seared sea scallops and grilled chicken manicotti both where also delicious. Desert we tried the homemade fried peanut butter cup with vanilla ice cream and real whipped cream. All in all we will definitely be back to try the other things on the menu. On our second trip to this awesome place we had rack of lamb and seafood risotto both where yummy. read more

First, let me say that I will return, see end review. WE say this on Phantom and saw the food challenge. I was a little turned off when entering to find a portable basketball hoop and the garage door open with junk in the front and that makes me think of a home /restaurant and it's a turn off. The inside is awesome and cozy and there was a great cross breeze and it was comfortable. The wait staff were outstanding, very nice, and helpful. We chose Arancini which the sauce was a little off, needed salt but not a clear red sauce. Turn off was that the shredded parm. was bagged where it doesn't melt at all, fresh with some melting would have been better, after all they are $11 Wife had Haddock and side of risotto from the ala carte section and that was good, risotto a little bland. I had the Mixed Grille because I was interested in having the lamb chops. They cooked it all perfect but the BIG disappointing part was there was no seasoning to any of the meat, no salt or pepper. But the wife's meal and app also lacked any seasoning too. I would understand if they mentioned on the menu that they don't season the food and let customers chose the salt and pepper but that's not the case. When I get grilled meat, I don't want to shake S&P on it after it's cooked, I want it properly seasoned and grilled into it. I was so ready to bite those lamb chops and taste it with seasoning and I got bland meat across the board, very sad. Wherever they locally sourced the andouille, as they mentioned they did, that was the best I have ever had. We had left over and made an omelette the next day. We had that food and 4 beers with tip for about $105. I know times are changing but to payt hat much for bland food, OUCH. Now, I said I would be back and I will because they inside was great, staff were outstanding, and had a comfort feel. When I go back though it will be to have the "SANDWICHES AND BURGERS" portion on the menu. read more

I appreciate what Rick's is trying to do in terms of bringing a bit more of a refined dining experience to an area with no other similar option. They do several things well, including yummy hand-cut fries, some other good apps, and nice cocktails. Service is friendly and they have a great outdoor seating space. Rick's attempts to skew upscale on their food with entrees like ahi tuna, duck, steaks, short rib, premium salads, uncommon veggies, and creative sides. Unfortunately the execution is just not there. Have now had four or five entrees and they have never been better than just ok and are usually worse. The a la carte menu is not really affordable and easily confused with other menu items and, again, not executed well. I'm not one to complain about high menu prices as long as I feel like the money is well spent. But $20 for a small, overcooked duck breast or something similar is just not money well spent. Would love to see them scale down price, simplify the menu, and stick to more basic food prep. Rick's will continue to do well because of the dearth of similar options in the area, but could be so much better! read more

Andrew, the server was nice , but he called my fiancé handsome while delivering his drink, which made him very uncomfortable and felt that it was out of line We then received complementary bread which was hard as a rock! Unreal. Then we ordered steak and cheese egg rolls, he brings us shrimp and avocado rolls. This is important servers to write down the orders. I had Igloo dinner reservations for 8pm, got there all the igloos full, they said it would be a few minutes! I asked how they could get folks out, clean and have us in a few minutes later? First time. I had a salad and the seafood risotto. Excellent. I was with 3 others as a Mother's Day dinner. All meals were lovely and delicious! Server was good, friendly and attentive. One thing that was disappointing was the head banging loud music playing in the background. When one is paying $25 and over for a meal, atmosphere should be more calming. Hi! This place was awesome ! Definitely a hidden gem of place. Six of us went there on Saturday. Service was on point, quick and friendly. Food was legit. Found a great spot in Kingston. Went in with average expectations and I will tell you they were far exceed. Great looking inside. Fresh clean and tv s adorned the wall with some local flair decor. Drinks were solid Tequila old fashion and blueberry Moscow mule. Frosted Flakes crusted fried chicken? Yes ! It is out of this world. Fries they got it covered there too. Three choices regular,garlic and Cajun. Cajun was perfection. The bartender /waitress was prompt and attentive. Based on how they mastered my lunch experience I will be returning for dinner next. We have gone to Ricks a few times prior to Covid and had take out twice now post covid. The food was always good but we had some issues on the last take out order. To be fair this was almost immediately after restaurants started serving again so I'm not holding the issues we had against them. We decided to give the take out thing a shot again. So tonight we ordered out again. All I can say is WOW this was one of the best take outs I've had. We ordered the Dunks mushroom burger and the hangar steak pita. They were both cooked to perfection. The flavors were superb and we both ate every morsel left. My wife never finishes her food especially take out. She absolutely hammered the pita. The pita bread was definitely artisan style and not your typical pita you can get local. I've traveled to over 50 countries and this is as close as you'll see to pita in the Mediterranean or Middle East. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium and there was just a hint of spice. Just Awesome! The burger had pork belly, juicy local grown shrooms, and this amazing aïoli. Only thing I would have changed is to sub arugula over lettuce. Man you guys knocked it outta the part tonight. I'd take a pic of the food but there's not a crumb left. read more

Good food... prices are OUTRAGEOUS for what you get. If you're ok with that it's delicious and the wait staff is very nice.

First time going to Ricks, I liked the atmosphere, and the staff as they were friendly and attentive. The only downside was some of the food. I had the Frosted Flake chicken sliders which were delicious however the garlic fries were just strange. They were crispy on the outside and disappeared as soon as you bit into them... the texture was just mushy and bland. We even tried taking them home and using the broiler to crisp them up ... which crisped the outside but the inside was still mushy and oily. We'll just give them to the forest creatures... My girlfriends Kingstonian turkey wrap was flavorful but very oily. This place was ok, not great or bad... middle of the road. read more

This place was just okay. Not great, not bad. We were in town for a concert and this place was recommended by a friend. First off, the wait was long, almost an hour. And the head server seemed confused and didn't relay info very well. We ended up staying near him because he passed us over once on the list and didn't want to miss out again as the options in Kingston are apparently pretty limited. I had the burger and it was a little dry, but the fries were very good. My wife had the same and though hers was not as dry, she thought it was a little bland. The drinks were great though and the service, once we got our seats at the bar, was good, if a little harried. Probably would look around for another place if we are back in town. read more

Only been once but we'll definitely be back. If the meatloaf is any indication, I can't wait to try out the rest of the menu. Fresh ingredients, portion sizes are satisfying but you won't be bringing anything home which I think is perfect. Great local beer selection, the wine list covered just about every taste and the menu itself had enough variety for just about any eater. My wife's salad looked like it was fresh out of the backyard garden and just washed off and the dressing was excellent. The only disappointment was they were out of the fried peanut butter cups for dessert! Next time! The ambiance is excellent, gives you that local joint feeling and service is very friendly... only suggestion I could offer the staff is keep those waters and soft drink refills coming - seemed to always have to ask for a refill vs. being offered one (or preferably one just showing up). read more
