Arietta Electric YELP critique…read more I hired Daniel in an effort to help the relative of a friend I used to work with to replace my main electric panel and upgrade it to 125 amps with follow up work afterwards. Having worked with electricians for almost 20 years I have to say this was the worst experience I've ever had in dealing with a "contractor". 1. He failed to give me a written estimate. 2. Several times I had to offer suggestions to make the job easier and more efficient for him or to stop him from making a mistake as it appeared to me he didn't know what he was doing. 3. He disconnected all of the original breakers without labeling each wire as I had done on the old panel door. I still have two circuits he hasn't labeled and I have no idea what they power. 4. He damaged a tree in front trying to hand bend a 1-1/4" piece of rigid conduit between two limbs and ignored the hunk of bark he broke off without comment. 5. He installed incorrect parts. I chose to buy some of the proper replacements and install myself or give to him to show him how to use them. 6. He failed to tell me I had to install sheetrock or paneling inside behind the panel to pass inspection. 7. The original inspection failed and he was forced to reinstall the main panel a second time. 8. He refused to follow all the County Inspectors requests when inspections failed, and he lied to me about it even though I witnessed them not being done. 9. When he tried to show me how to stucco around the new panel he only made things worse. And then he joked about being the most expensive stucco person around. 10. After installing an outdoor receptacle under the panel he told me I'd now have to move my side gate so it could close. But that was not true and I wonder why he didn't check before installing it. 11. I spent a lot of time cleaning up after his work and had to tear out the stucco I installed around the new panel and stucco twice because he failed the inspection. 12. While his assistant (an ex-houseframer with a large hammer...) pulled romeex under the house he dislodged HVAC ducting from the furnace trying to crawl over it and didn't repair it. 13. I had to request an actual invoice after I paid him because he never sent a bill. 14. I texted him twice, and after no reply in over a week, I called and left a message asking him to return to ID the two circuits and finish part of the job he agreed to do. 15. He did return my phone message with a call-but then hung up on me without a word. I recently left another message that I was leaving a bad YELP review but still I have not heard from him. 16. An adult with good business sense would have attempted to remedy the situation. 17. I wouldn't trust this young man to change batteries in a flashlight at this point. He is no longer welcome on my property EVER AGAIN.

His pricing is very reasonable and if he does not have parts in his well stocked vehicle, he get them in quickly! Review of Collins Electric…read more We had had several problems with our Xfinity connection, and were told some small amount of electricity is coming from our house, so we should get an electrician to find and solve the problem. I called around and got a some answers from those that didn't know about the problem, and some that were huge companies. I prefer locally owned expert construction specialists for the human connection and face to face discussions about my needs and budget. Brett Collins fills that description perfectly for electrical work. He's smart, competent, great at explaining things, affordable, friendly and reliable. But most of all, he cares about and obviously loves what he's doing and does it right. For example, when he was hooking up a new lighted address sign on my garage, he said he could do it, but would request an additional 1/2 hour to redo some wires I had put in, that worked ok but should have been shielded. I not only agreed, but was delighted. I spent a 50 year career as a carpenter and an architect and civil engineer so I know what a dedicated and successful contractor and technician looks like. Brett is like that. I soon learned to just stay out of his way and let him make the decisions and the several projects came out excellent. We got a brand new 225 Amp Panel (up from 100 Amp which worked but was outdated ) for which Brett handled all the permits with both the city and PG&E, a new outdoor back door light, a new outdoor outlet with room for a future 220v car charger if needed, a new lighted address sign, a new hallway double switch with dimmer (that I couldn't do myself). And yes he solved the Xfinity problem by checking all their connections, and all of the outlets in my house for possible wiring problems. He explained that a backwards wiring situation might send some electricity out to the Xfinity wires, and there may have been that in the past but there is not that problem now. And, since our TV viewing has actually been ok, we feel that issue is solved. In fact Brett solved all our issues expertly!
