I was referred to Dane at ARV by Matt at Matt's Wholesale appliances in Rohnert Park. I had a concern about my stove as well as my in warranty refrigerator that was having an icemaker problem. He suggested I call the refer mgr customer service. Dane stopped by and checked my range and found it to be in good working order. Then he looked at my dryer and helped me set up the indoor vent solution properly. No charge for the house call! Goodwill goes a long way. This is a different kind of review, let's call it an "integrity" review for which I would give 10 stars if I could. I put in a request with my home warranty company for problems with my dryer, paid the $75 service fee and waited for the call from Jays. When Jays called to schedule the appointment, they asked a couple of questions about what was wrong and quickly surmised that I didn't need their services, rather a vent company. He went on to explain that vents weren't covered under my policy and gave me the number of a good company in town. He further advised me to cancel my service call for him ASAP so that I could get a refund. I was able to get the refund and can't stop thinking about how easy it would have been for Jays to just come on out, say they couldn't help me and pocket the fee. I'll definitely keep Jays, and their integrity, in mind the next time I need appliance repair. Bravo! read more

Our trash compactor door wouldn't open. It is definitely not pleasant when your trash has to sit in the compactor in your kitchen. Luckily our home warranty assigned the request to Jay. Accepted our repair contract via First American, with full access and knowledge on details of the job and the address. Confirmed with us via phone himself the repair job and our location by phone. We waited over a week for the next available appointment time - only for this company to call the day before our scheduled appointment time and inform us he was cancelling the job and sending us back to First American as this location was 'out of his area.' He's only an hour away from us, and could have taken responsibility for his error and honored the contract. Huge inconvenience and did nothing to make it right. Even after I followed up directly and begged him to still take the job and explained our urgent situation and the months we've been without an appliance. Based on customer service and business practices alone - would not recommend. read more

Dishwasher breakdown. Our dishwasher advance timer didn't work so we called our home warranty company Fidelity. They sent out Jay to "repair" our dishwasher (DW) timer. I texted model and serial info to him in advance of his visit so he could acquire parts in advance. Jay came out. As it turns out he was there only to qualify the unit and didn't seem interested in repairing it. He seemed to be looking out for the insurer (certainly not for us) since he submitted to our insurer that the DW had rodent damage and was thus not repairable. In truth, only the ADVANCE TIMER was not functioning and was the key reason for our call. Aside from timer, the dishwasher worked great! The rodent damage referenced in his report to Fidelity had been PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED (a leaky hard hose and tank/body pinhole)! These did not affect the timer. There is little doubt in my mind Jay knew the key word "RODENT" would disqualify our DW. After the insurer rejected our claim on grounds of rodent damage, I called Jay to explain the DW was functional other than the advance timer, but he defended his report. He asserted the dishwasher was not a candidate for repair since he said the silicone pinhole repair to DW body/tank wouldn't hold liquid over time. Jay refused to amend his report and asserted neither silicone nor 2 part FRP epoxy would hold up to heat and liquid over time. This is absolutely false! Silicone is frequently used in high heat and moist environments that require a liquid barrier. You could say it's SOP. Examples: 1. Seal OIL PAN to bottom of auto engines or transmissions and other high heat industrial uses. 2. COOKIE SHEETS and oven gloves are made from...er...silicone. Bake your cookies on it. 3. AQUARIUMS use silicone as the primary seal. 4. SHOWERS use silicone as the primary seal. 5. BOATS use silicone as the key seals between outdrive and stern...etc, etc... I'll forgo analysis of 2 part epoxy uses, but hopefully you get the point. It's my view that Jay should amend his report to home warranty company stating that the timer CAN be repaired or replaced rendering the DW fully functional. Then he should come out and execute. It's rarely too late to do the right thing. read more

I called out someone to fix a switch problem on our dryer. I understood the fee would be dropped once I ok'd the repair. He quoted $100 less to my husband, my husband gave him the ok to proceed. Once everything was done (around 15 min.) and don't see ANY evidence of a part but rather exorbitant labor fee. All said and done the bill was almost $260 for something that usually costs very little. Terrible! I will not use them ever again. read more

I have a washing machine leak and through Fidelity National Home Warranty, I advised two days ago, what my problem was. They gave me a case # and mentioned that Jay's Appliance Service would be calling me before the close of business on Thursday. Fast forward to Saturday, 4:00 pm...no phone call from Jay's. The Home Warranty company insists that they advised Jay's about my issue immediately after my phone call on Thursday. Not a good way to be of service, Jay's!! read more

I called Jay's Appliance Service after moving into a new home in Napa and having some concerns over the appliances I inherited; dishwasher, oven, and microwave. I made an appt request on-line in the morning and they called me right away and sent someone that same morning. I can't recall his name but he was AWESOME! He not only addressed the issues but educated me on the brands of appliances in my kitchen. He was quick, efficient, knowledgable, reassuring, and had all the necessary equipment to work on the appliances and was out in less than 30 minutes. Had an appointment - Jay was adamant that he showed up. We are adamant that he did not as we were there during the hours he said he came by. Waited 3 hours while making phone calls with nobody answering nor returning messages. Jay came out to replace our disposer under warranty and arrived promptly when promised. If turned out to be a difficult job taking longer than expected. While he was under our sink he noted problems with our faucet mount and took the extra time to fix that as well. I offered to pay him for the extra work as it was not included in the warranty repair and he declined. Nice guy, great service and completely fair. Can't beat that service. The call-back took a little time (as we expect with such businesses), but Jay's showed up on time, and saved us money by not trying to sell us on repair, when replacement was the best option. first of all rude on the phone because he didn't realize we live further out than he thought. um, doesn't your google maps work? he's been here before, too. so i am not sure what his issue is/was. secondly the door and handle to our microwave is broken. he told our home warranty that we had broken it on purpose. what? i am 60 years old. i don't go around breaking appliances for the heck of it. it's an old microwave and should be covered under our warranty but because he was in a bad mood, THAT'S what he told them for our claim. our stove burners haven't been working properly. i told him that it took 45 minutes to get water to boil. that the burner seemed to go on and off. he practically called me a liar. he said no it doesn't. lol it does! so i said i assure you it does. he was still mad about whatever so he made me put a pot of water to "prove it" on the stove. sure enough it starts going on and off and on and off. he says OH. well someone else will have to come fix this. grabbed his junk and stomped out. rudest person i've ever had in my home and i used to work for lawyers. that's saying something. never EVER again and i would not recommend to anyone. he didn't seem to care about the job just the fact that he drove a few and i mean very few miles more than he remembered he would. dude, you've been here before. check your records. why was friday such a grouchy day for you and rude, too? now i'm going to have to appeal it with my insurance and get something done by someone quasi competent. read more
