I love this place and the long time employees! I have been going to RICK'S Lube & Tune for years...when they were at the corner of Avalon and Carson St.. My visits were usually for minor work...oil change, flat tires, and other small work. It wasn't til they moved behind the 76 gas station that I REALLY had to use their service for major work on my cars. It was then that I began to really put all my TRUST in their work....and you know what? They have YET to fail me! They not only do AWESOME work...but very TRUSTWORTHY! Been going to Rick's for years. The staff is always professional and helpful. I trust the mechanics. I've had everything done to my van here from brakes, to suspension to timing belt, to tune ups, oil changes, etc...I have never experienced any problems with the establishment or the work performed. (I have 2005 Kia Sedona) They do professional work for reasonable price. I would definitely recommend and have recommended Rick's Lube & Tune to friends and family. I've been going to Rick's Lube and Tune for a few years now. I am a knowledgeable and detail oriented customer and am perfectly comfortable doing my own maintenance. I bring my vehicle to Rick's because they do things the same way I would do them myself. They are fast and proficient--unlike some of the cheaper places. Their prices are certainly reasonable and they have alerted me to several issues that I could not have easily found without crawling under the car myself. They have only attempted to sell me an air filter when I really needed it (I declined having one already at home). Yelp is very bad about posting negative reviews unless the business in question pays for "management" of their reputation so be aware of that when you read Yelp reviews for any business. Rick's is certainly one of the best businesses in the Carson area. read more

Wow, was heading to Santa Monica from Orange County in rush hours and my oil light came on. It was a panicky situation and I noticed this place on Yelp. Called and the man who answered the phone stayed after hours to fill with oil. I told him to charge me double and he refused. He really saved my day and took care of me when I was in the middle of a long trip. I really wish I had a place like this near me. The owner is a very very nice person!!!! These guys have helped me out before, and they did the job well enough, but quite honestly, their customer service sucks. I called and asked if they were busy and how long it would take to change my oil. The guy said they were a little busy, but could have it done in 30 minutes. As I pulled up, a guy came up to my car, and I said just an oil change and he goes, "Oh we're way too busy for that!" I'm like dude, I JUST CALLED! Seriously... customer service! No apology, no nothing, it just seemed like he just wanted me to leave. It wouldn't have been an issue to me if he said hey, I'm sorry, we're actually pretty busy, it's going to be this much time before we can get to you, then I could understand the mistake... But it didn't go down like that. He was pretty rude to me as he practically shooed me away. Last time I go there... Also, I'm not one to write bad reviews because I know how it is, but hopefully you guys take it as constructive criticism and work on it. read more

Went to this shop on and off over 10 years, even back when they were located on the corner of Avalon & Carson. This asshole tried to charge me $125.00 to change light on BMW he claimed lots of labor I had the light he was just installing long story short s friend came and changed it for free took him 5 mins. On my wife's car on every oil change he has done they forget to rest the computer to indicate there has been an oil change. This has happened over 4 times. Last but not least he tried to over charge me on my break job by $50 dollars it's been the same price every time I have been there I always come with the breaks or rotors and have them just install he tried charge $100.00 to put on new rosters and break pads I asked him if his prices went up (usually $75.00) I know that's already high cause most shops charge between $45-$65 dollars. This asshole looks in the computer and tells me that's what I usually pay and I looked at his ass and his hand was shaking. I looked at him dead in his lying eyes and said shit man I have never paid you that and then he ask what do you usually pay and I gave him the $75.00. Crooked shady don't think about your needs only thinks about how much he can charge you. read more

I recently went to Ricks Lube Complete Autocare hoping to get a quick oil change, well that was not the case. Turns out the bolt to the oil pan on my car was stripped so they were going to need to replace the entire oil pan, which I would have loved to avoid paying for but it's is what it is, I asked the supervisor at the place if there was any way we could pull out the bolt and rethread the oil pan and his response to me was no because of the angle the oil pan is at, which I though was a complete lack of effort and an attempt to get more money out of me. Second, once we agreed on replacing the entire oil pan they told me it would be a 4 hour job and it turned out being a 6 hour job, know typically I wouldn't mind. I understand there type of jobs aren't going to be done at the blink of any eye, however I pre planned my day thinking it would be a 4 hour job and return to the shop 5 hours later even giving the mechanics an extra hour incase if any hiccups, come to find out they still were not done and it would take another hour, for a total of 6. Lastly, the supervisor at the place has terrible customer service. He has a terrible attitude, has no interest in really helping customers or doing what's best and most cost efficient for the customer. I definitely will not be returning and if I could go back would have never taken my car to Ricks Lube. read more

Tuesday morning, my car wouldn't start, and I was stuck on the side of the road. Thankfully, my dad (who was in town visiting from Hawaii) quickly diagnosed the problem...that I needed a new starter. That was half the battle of knowing what was wrong, but I didn't know where to go to have this done, and found Rick's Lube on good ol' Yelp. We called at 8am, and they took us in right away. They were extremely friendly, professional, and thier store is very clean. My car was fixed before noon, and at the fiar and honest price quoted over the phone. I took my care for an oil change at Ricks lube on 3/18/2018 and a month shy of having to change my oil my car broke down. The company did not place sufficient oil in my vehicle causing my car to break down in the freeway as I was driving. It made an awful rumbling noise and within seconds my vehicle stopped working. I have tried contacting the company so they can do right by their mistake, however I have received no support. Instead they claim I may have enemies out there who may want to harm me. I am car less as of now. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE, IT WILL BREAK DOWN. Learn from my mistake, it is not worth it. Truly disappointed with the company. read more

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! If you ever plan on changing your own oil, don't ever go there. I made that mistake. I normally do my own oil change, but this one time, I got really lazy and decided to have someone else do it. I yelped them and they had 4 stars. Plus since they were just around the corner, I figured I'd give them a try. Everything seemed fine. Now I was due for an oil change, and ended up doing myself and found that the technician that worked on my vehicle tightened the bolt for the oil extra tight. I was unable to loosen or even get the bolt to budge. Also, the oil filter was tightened extremely tight, when normally, it's done just hand tight. I wasn't able to unscrew it off. Not only that, the oil and filter that was used was junk. The filter was some cheap filter that was so tiny and slim that a standard oil filter wrench couldn't even grip the filter to unscrew it. In the end, I would not even send my worst enemy to them. They only did it that way so that you'd have to bring it back to them to have them screw you over and over and over again. read more

These guys are AMAZING! My alternator went out on the 405fwy and Rick's was the first and only place I could stop and get to. You never know what you're going to get at a gas station service center, but I couldn't have been more impressed! Josh and Rick were completely at the ready to help, answer any and all my questions, and do great work expeditiously and for probably the best price I've ever gotten. I swear, if I lived in or around Carson, I'd be taking my car there for service work whenever it was needed. These guys are fair, honest and do excellent work. I only wish they were closer to my house as I'd be a regular. They also have a great working relationship with Enterprise as they service all their vehicles and were able to take me over there and get me in a rental car within the hour. Cannot say enough good things about my experience with Rick's and recommend them highly. read more

Very disappointed, I have been going to Ricks for over 10 years always great, but this past weeked I went to get a smog check, they told me that my car failed, that it was a polluter and that they would tell me what was wrong with my car for 50 extra dollars. I said no and went to a different shop to get a second opinion it turns out that there is nothing wrong with my car, it passed the smog test. It was a test only station, the technician told me that there is something wrong with Ricks technician or the smog machine, or they needed my money. Anyways, never going back to Rick's. read more

Thoroughly happy with Rick's Lube. They changed my oil a couple of times and each time, they were quick and courteous. Good customer service is a rarity these days. I had a really bad experience with a local tire company in Carson (see my other reviews if you need to know the company). Instead of addressing terrible customer service and poor workmanship, the owner or manager posted on Yelp it's good for business when "bad" customers don't show. I suppose by "bad" he/she meant a person who complains about hostile workers and deplorable service. After over three hours waiting for an oil change, the manager backed up my daughter's car and pulled out the plastic undercover. I had to hit the car repeatedly to get him to stop because he was dragging the plastic on the asphalt. His attitude was so bad, something told me to check the oil when I got home. Sure enough, it was only 1/4 filled and the oil was thin and dirty. Goes without saying when you find a business like Rick's with good customer service, keep it! Avoid the bad ones! Hopefully, they'll shape up and realize the value of a happy customer and repeat business. read more

Will never go there again!! Me and my family will always go there for years to get a oil change done but obviously that going to change! Went there to get my audi a brake change payed over $1000 when they finished asked for my parts back the guy at the desk says we threw them away how is that if thise are my parts I gave no permission for them to throw them away find out by a couple of other mechanics that was illegal ok next day my brakes are making a noise again when I changed all four brakes as well all 4 rotors had to request time from work to take the car back to the shop took the machanic so he can hear the problem. problem found the guy says we going to fixed them good!
