My husband has decreed this is the best meal he's had since we've been in Oregon. Now granted, he's a meat & potato guy so the food in Portland isn't always his favorite, but it was great to see him enjoy a burger out here. This place knows what it is. I found the "old lady at the bar" to be salty and funny -- love her. Came here 4 times throughout our week and enjoyed each time. Connected with locals, got good cheap drinks and chatted with the bartender and the chef -- and we are not social that way. This place is great; just go in with a chill attitude and you'll love it. Was just discriminated against at Ricks Roadhouse. Me and my husband walked in to have a drink and were told that we had to have a mask to go in there. Every person in the place DID NOT have a mask AND there is a sign that says "Masks not required, laughter is. Have some balls, and just say you don't like tourists. read more

If you want to see the owner, Rick, sing and not actually sing yourself this is the place for you. The locals here are funny and clearly tired of Rick too. The drinks were great, we did order food, but the crock pot on the counter gave us a clue.... and the random dog tied up on the back porch adds a certain country feel, however Rick's ego takes up a lot of room here and the sound system is too big to fit in the space that's left..... though he has 3 mics, we were only allowed to share 1 mic that was not working. Rick told us he didn't need our business. So we left. Ghost Hole has karaoke and its amazing. Drive a mile or 2 it's worth it. read more

Wow. The BF & I were pleasantly surprised with this place. The people were very nice even though it was more of a local crowd and the drinks were cheap. The menu is small but man is it good! We ordered the Cheeseburger and the Halibut burger. Both served with fries (shoestring, very crispy outside), nice veggie condiments (no wilted lettuce or soggy tomatoes, onions were not too overpowering) and on a perfect bun (soft but sturdy enough to hold the sandwich/burger together). The burger was so juicy, like unbelievably deliciously melt in your mouth juicy- cooked to perfection. They use GOOD FRESH halibut- if someone would have handed me the fried halibut burger with nothing else, I still would be writing this 5 star review. All in all, very impressed and think EVERYONE should go here. If I come back- it will be my first stop. read more

My friends and I are here from Portland on a work trip, and we walked into Ricks and the first thing was the bitchy bartender who asked what we were in there for lol ummmmm Like we just walked in to chat about life? My co worker said "we are here for some drinks and food!" She then looked at me and asked if I was even 21 - I said uhh yes? I handed her my ID and she laughed and said "seriously?" not to mention the guy at the bar saying he'd card me to that I look like I was 17 - (come to find out he was the owner) like I had a fake ID or something at a shity hole in the wall dive bar? - we then asked to play the slot machines and she rudely said no not for you - I then told my co workers we should leave and we all got up and I loudly told them that whoever owns this bar is complete GARBAGE and the bartender said "oh yea well you can meet the owner in the front" like what, I'm gonna fight someone in front of your trash bar - no thank you- I felt so disrespected. Excellent service and excellent food for a beachtown tavern. If you are staying somewhere on the beach, I recommend getting your dinner to go and then taking it back to the room to watch the sunset. Or if it's cloudy, stick around Rick's and watch the baseball game while you chat with other patrons. read more

We were desperate for a quick snack on our day of traveling and Rick's fit the bill. We got a prawn platter and some fries and onion rings to share. The prawns and fries were fine, the onion rings were great. Whomever put in the hours the first time for this place posted that it's only open Mondays. I've submitted the changes on the hours. This is a great hole in the wall local bar. The ambiance was kicking from the moment we opened the door and were greeted with the deep bass of a live Eagles concert on the many Tv's behind the bar. Cool music. Got a halibut and chips order and the fish was very fresh and tasty with a nice thin crispy batter. The fries were average. Cousin got the Beach Burger with pastrami piled on it and it looked amazing. There were a few casino slot machines in the back as well as keno. Server was not overly friendly but more of a "tell me what you want" type that you sometimes encounter at these kinds of bars. Saw her smiling to some locals tho. Guy (maybe owner?) seemed very friendly and was dancing around which was nice. Looked like the locals favor this joint as well. read more

Our first two choices for a late lunch were closed so walking through Rockaway we decided to give this place a try- it looked like a dive bar, but the server was friendly and our food was delicious. I had the fish tacos, two good sized flour tortillas with tasty cod and very good cabbage and tomatoes on top. S had a cheeseburger and it was very tall, juicy, and messy to eat- the best kind of burger. He ate the last bit with a fork. The fries were good too, I ate a few and they had a nice crisp on the outside. Draft beer was OK-a small selection but they did have Drop Top ale which we both had. A very filling, good lunch; the down side, Fox News was non-stop but it is a bar after all. read more

Amazing night out with my girls! We came into town from Portland and California to celebrate my sis in law getting married and the karaoke and dancing and locals at Ricks were sooooo fun and welcoming! Absolutely terrible customer service! Extremely rude employees who basically refuse to serve anyone who is not a local.

Only friendly to locals. The restaurant appeared to be open at 9:00 pm with plenty of customers inside but when our group of four walked in we heard a customer say, "they're strangers" and then the bartender announced to usthey were closed. We went elsewhere and when we passed Rick's on our way back to our cars they were still serving their regulars. I encourage all visitors to stay away unless you enjoy rude non-service. read more

Family friends have a beach house in Rockaway, so we try and make this a traditional karaoke night when we are in town. I, personally, and others I've been with (no hold back for women) have gotten yelled at in the face by the owner, "Rick." I've never seen a bar so poorly ran by an owner who clearly has zero professionalism. Why I keep coming back to this bar, I do not know as he deserves zero of my money. I do believe the Roadhouse is still standing solely because Rick loves to hear the tune of his own voice on the microphone. Half the the time he is the one karaoking, and how dare you interrupt him. What a song bird you are, Rick. I urge Rick to hire a manager for his bar; or better yet, invest time in some anger management classes for his own good. He should not be seen in the public eye as there's been numerous reports, outside of my own, of his harsh verbal abuse and unpredictable manner. His convincing smile on the microphone can quickly turn to a blown-up childish temper-tantrum from merely a spill of a drink on the dance floor. Rick, it's time you hang those sandals up and shut'r down for good. read more

I don't really know how to rate (RICKS) I have a beach house here in rockaway and I have been coming here for 20+ years. I have met Rick himself great guy. The last time I was in her the staff was really nice, but today 1/9/16 I walk in set down and the bartender looked at me like I was the devil and yells across the bar (what do you need) I just smiled and asked if they had original Coors. She huffs and says yes in the bottle. Not a very nice server. So I'm giving it two stars. But I will say I have been in here before and was treated very good. Decided to try this place out because it had them best reviews in this area. A very bitter unfriendly waitress pretty much was inconvenienced we were there. After over 45 minutes after ordering and not food, no water refill or evening check up on us we left. The couple behind us were also very upset with them same situation. This review is even on the nice side of our experience. This place gets negative stars. We even watched someone with a to go order stand at the bar for 10mins waiting to pay while his food was getting cold, then resorted to waving cash to the owner. Fun little bar to run into on the coast. Cheap drinks, and we happen to show up on karaoke night. There were only 4 of us, but we are a fun group that loves to have fun with everyone around us. Karaoke was a blast. Dance music was fun. We were told the 4 of us needed to get off the floor to let's others have fun. Umm excuse me??? There is plenty of room for all of us. FIRST & FORMOST NEVER GO HERE!! If i could rate a no or negative star i would have. Myself and a friend were looking for a place that was open and for a bite to eat. The open sign was lit but customer service was not on the menu?? So we tried it, my buddy ordered but i was unsure. I finally chose a coors light to much suprise after getting an attitude for taking a minute to see what was offered. As she walked back behind the bar shaking her head. I noticed the other male behind the bar acting the same way.. (mind you maybe 18-20 people were in the bar, 4 of which were back at video poker). A comment was made down the bar, the male (cook?) then turned as to rush the patron sitting at the bar aggressively and in a yelling fashion asked what did you say? As he steamed back to the kitchen i made a comment as to the drama. The cook must have heard the comment. Then the cook (owner?)rushed over to me from behind the counter with the same aggresive manner and asked what i said. I told him you as owners need to take it easy and relax. Patrons are hear to eat, drink and support the business. Your just running people off. he said if you dont like it u can leave. I said after we pay for our beer i will leave. The cook all in an aggressive manner pulled out his phone as to call the police and said just leave, ill pay for your drinks. A big group of us from Portland were in the area and stumbled onto Ricks looking for karaoke and it was the best part of ur whole weekend. I hit a lot of karaoke in Portland, and the book at Ricks was HUGE. He was incredibly friendly and fun and manned the karaoke while running the place - all effortlessly.
