While hiking the Wilson River Trail, I got a recommendation for the best burger in the area. This was a good recommendation! This roadside stop is worth going out of the way for though if you're on the highway, just pull over. The interior is a blast from the past and true to the area. The service was as good as the food. This truly is home country cooking. Leave room for dessert you won't regret it.

Stopped in for a bite to eat since we were renting an Airbnb down the road. The food was great and service was excellent. My wife and I decided to get some desserts to go so we would have some goodies for later. I just sat down with my slice of carrot cake and, OMG, it was delicious. The only thing that would have made it better was a big ol glass of cold milk to wash it down. Seriously, do not miss it. The frosting was like a separate dessert in itself, scrumptious. Thanks to all at Alice's! We can't wait to come back!

If you're on your way home from the beach and are looking for a good country breakfast this is THE spot. Our server Kim was absolutely wonderful, so kind and friendly. Even let us know which bathroom would be the warmest! The food is AMAZING. We got eggs Benedict, Huevos Rancheros, and two short stacks. Pancakes were perfect and fluffy. They didn't skimp out on the butter either!! The Eggs Benedict was better than even some fancier restaurants we've been to! The hollandaise sauce was perfectly seasoned and creamy, all of our eggs were perfectly cooked. The Huevos Rancheros was also perfectly seasoned!! The perfect amount of cheese, beans, and egg. I highly recommend getting over-easy eggs instead of the scrambled. Mine came with a side of sourdough toast. Which I had with some of their INCREDIBLE homemade raspberry jam!! Tastes just like my great grandmas. No yucky smuckers around here! Also toasted and butter to absolute perfection. We will be stopping here after the beach every time now! Well worth what we paid.

Welcoming country cafe, great for heading back into town from a weekend at the coast for some breakfast. Portions are quite generous, unique artifacts and antique outdoorsy gear/tools/calendars/pictures hung throughout. Shows you there's a lot of history behind this cafe. Service was decent and they were mostly full the entire time we were there, so that shows this place must be pretty good! They make homemade pies, cookies and cinnamon rolls, which I was eyeing out as I walked in. You're able to just order these to-go if you want like at a bakery. Overall, I'd come back if hungry and driving by again!

Passed up several restaurants to come to this one from Garibaldi. Hoping to get some oysters with breakfast. When we sat down we were "warned" there were two tables of 6 and 10 ahead of my hubs and I. (No "Hi how are you" or "welcome" which should have been our first clue as to how this was going to go. We ordered two omelette and asked if we could get a side of oysters. "Only if you order it as part of the egg breakfast." So, a whole other breakfast? Hmm. We passed. We had coffee and spent the next hour chatting and getting up to request coffee refills. After an hour wait we asked how much longer and were told there were still two more tables ahead of us. Hmm? Sounded like another hour wait. Long story short, can't tell you how the food is since we didn't have two hours+ to wait. The bread pudding we got togo looks good, the Marionberry pie is pretty small and soupy. Glad we didn't order the whole thing for $28. If you have a couple hours to waste, it might be nice.

Incredible food and service. Family owned place, so friendly. Corned beef hash was sooooo good and the house made jam. Would reorder both

For outside dining; walk inside Garibaldi's Portside Bistro, procure a menu, make your selections, go back inside - order and pay at the counter. Your meal will be delivered expeditiously. Lovely aesthetic with views overlooking the peaceful harbor with birds swooping in and around. The interior is clean, welcoming and comfortable. I am not a big burger girl but let me tell you this; we (both) ordered the PBJ Marionberry Burger and it's the best burger that Mr. Wonderful and I have EVER had! (*HE eats a lot of burgers!) I tried to get a good cross-section photo, but I'm not a professional (like John). Anyway, they give you a bunch of wet wipes with this meal because - *YES! The only snafu we experienced was - ordered 1 IPA and 1 blonde and ended up with two IPAs - Mr. Wonderful & IPA = no bueno but he's too nice. Even after I double checked with Tami (who was wonderful) he stuck with their error. Would we return? 100% most definitely!

Doesn't look like much from the outside but very roomie, clean and nice inside. AMAZING service! Wish I had gotten the name of the young man behind the register yesterday that attended us. He was so nice, patient, and helpful! We sat outside in the front patio with our 2 pups enjoying the beautiful weather and got the food brought out to us. We split an oyster melt sandwich, albacore tuna sandwich, and their house made tomato/orange soup. You could tell the oyster and tuna both were very fresh and not canned or frozen nonsense. They said the tuna is sourced locally from Garibaldi area about 1/2 hour south of there. The strawberry lemonade had fresh strawberry in it and was delicious and not overly sweet. We then went for a very long walk on the beach to work it all off and came back few hours later to relax at the outside patio tables again and tried the dirty fries and salmon pita (BOTH DELICIOUS). and a must try too. The food here is different, unique, and not made how you would typically expect or get anywhere else. I thought the tuna sandwich would be boring but actually left me wanting more. We were sad upon return that we didn't get to try their CLAMS because they had run out since it's one of their most popular items, but we will DEFINITELY be returning to this place, and hope to be able to try their dinner menu sometime. We both highly recomend it!

But, even being a year round visitor, there are still some things that take getting used to like the limited hours for many restaurants. Even in the high season, the San Dune Pub is only open a few days a week and only during dinner hours. So, no lunch visits or late night drinking sessions. Also, no children allowed, just fur babies on the back patio. The best time to experience the San Dune is on a late summer afternoon or early evening on the back patio. It is a nice place to hang out sheltered from the traffic on Laneda and any strong wind coming off the beach. I've only ordered burgers and it hits the spot served on a brioche bun with a generous side of fries or tots. A funny quirk about the menu is that all of the cheeseburgers are the same price (currently $18). So whether you want a plain cheeseburger or the more extravagant Chipotle Bacon Chicken Burger, it is the same price. You can upgrade the side if you prefer salad or chowder. There are three large screens inside, so it is a place where you can watch a game, but there is also a wall with video poker machines that have the sound turned on, which is quite annoying. Personally, I'd turn left as you enter and stick to the quieter side of the dining space.
