My absolute favorite restaurant in this area. The steamers are so good I look forward to coming back every year! All of their food is so good!!

What a view! From the patio to the restaurant to the lounge, the view of the waves is extraordinary. The flavorful clam chowder warmed my soul and the apple pie sweetened the salty breeze as I gazed across the ocean. I got right in at happy hour in the low season. The staff seemed to be happy to be there and extended their cheer to me. I'll be back!

After our second trip to Rockaway Beach, my family and I decided to finally give the Sand Dollar Restaurant a try. Not quite sure why we had a block on this place. You can't beat the view with this place right on the beach. Plus, it happened to be a beautiful day. When we walked in it felt very comfortable and more modern than I was expecting but had a comfortable ambiance. The service here was great. We were greeted right away. Our waitress was fantastic as well. I went with the Rockfish Sandwich which came with 2 pieces of rockfish, tartar sauce, creamy slaw, lettuce, and onion. I went with no tomatoes. Honestly, this tasted great. The fish was fried perfectly, not greasy at all. The fish appeared fresh as well. This came with battered fries. My youngest daughter had the grilled cheese, which she easily took down. No complaints. The menu may have changed, but we had some prawns in a chili sauce that tasted great, and my wife and other daughter had a salad with shrimp. This tasted great as well. The shrimp had a nice flavor and were not over cooked. It was the perfect addition to the salad. It was a little more on the pricier side, but everything is getting more expensive now days. Overall, we had a great experience. We had a great view, everyone working there was friendly, and our meal tasted great. The Sand Dollar is certainly worth a try.

    They have Happy Hour too!

Stopped for lunch, quickly seated and welcomed. Menus and water added to our table. It has been at least 6 years since we first dined here. Upgrades noticeable, very nice and clean. Great view of the beach. Our food was very good. We ordered fish n chips and a chicken sandwich. My Sandwich was very delicious. I guess I didn't read the fine print, but it came with bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato and aioli sauce. It was plentiful. I recommend.

Great location with great views of the beach and ocean. We were greeted and seated quickly. The staff was friendly and kept in pretty good contact with us. My daughters ordered the grilled cheese and fries, I had the shrimp Louie and we had oyster shooters. The grilled cheese sandwiches were great - lots of cheese on thick bread. The fries were done great and had a very tasty seasoning. The oyster shooters were really good and tasted fresh. The Shrimp Louie was ok - nothing special. Everything was ok but their location is amazing

There was no wait to be seated which was nice and we got to sit outside with a gorgeous view of the beach. The food itself was really good so no complaints there. The downside was the service. It was really slow and once we got our food no one checked on us at all during the meal. I had also ordered a Shirley Temple that was completely forgotten until another server eventually brought it out. It felt like we were kind of forgotten about which was disappointing. Keep in mind they can only split the check half and half down the middle instead of by what each person actually ordered.

Right on the beach, so you can see the waves roll in. Is usually dog friendly (why I chose it) but with the weather being wet and windy, the patio wasn't open. Maybe next time... the wait staff were prompt too. I had the oyster shooters, featuring local oysters. They were humongous! Fresh and salty. We split a cioppino. Not the best I ever had, but it hit the spot on this cold day. I'd love to go back in better weather. Looks like a great hangout, and the happy hour food menu looks fantastic.

Stopped in for dinner on a Friday night around 6 pm. Not too busy. We were able to get a table on the outside patio. Nice view from any table inside or outside. Employees were friendly. We were seated right away, and our drink order came out promptly. Not too long for food either, but after that, I'm not sure what happened to our server. We ended up getting up and going to the front counter to pay. I was thinking about trying a dessert, but I lost interest after waiting for so long. We ordered the cod fish and chips ($24). They were delicious! The seasoning on the shoestring fries was really good, too! Since we enjoyed the food so much, we'll be back. Hopefully, the service will be more attentive next time.

Sautéed halibut with fresh veggies and a polenta cake. Very tasty.

We drove down from another town because we couldn't find a restaurant that wasn't serving anything more than deep fried foods and burgers. The Gnudi did not disappoint and came with a boatload of fresh chanterelles. My partner had the Italian beef sandwich which was great but the house giardeniera did make the sandwich a little on the salty side. In addition to indoor dining they have about 7 picnic tables outside which was convenient for us since we had our dog with us. You also order at the register and grab your own utensils and water which keeps the prices very reasonable. Would overall highly recommend!

Food also took a while to come out and were served our main courses before our appetizer and salad. I also felt like the prices were quite expensive for a small town like Carlton. For food we ordered the renegade potato's, a house salad, French toast and the biscuit and gravy. The renegade potato's were so good! Nice crispy potato with a spicy aioli! The house salad was a little disappointing. It was pretty but it didn't have the seasonal fruit that I was looking forward to. French toast was decent; a nice crispy brioche French toast with what appears to be a homemade blueberry jam. But this didn't wow me as much as I thought it would. The biscuits and gravy was interesting though and almost tastes like a spicy sausage gravy. If you're in the area, I would definitely check this place out! But if not, it probably isn't worth the drive.

We own a house in Long Beach, and during the time we lived there full-time, this was our go-to spot for anniversaries and my husband's birthdays. It exudes that cozy, historic Seaview charm that invites you to relax and linger...warm, intimate, and full of character without being over the top. A true small-town and now not so hidden gem. My husband is a fan of their Old Fashioneds, particularly those with a smoked maple twist, and he often gravitates back to the slow-braised pork. Their current Southern Comfort Pork dish is just his style: slow-braised pork shoulder served over brown sugar yam mash with jalapeño creamed corn, green onion, and maple-bacon salsa. That's comfort food crafted with real culinary skill. As someone who follows a plant-based diet, I truly appreciate how The Depot makes an effort to accommodate vegetarian and vegan diners in a way that feels genuine rather than forced. Last winter, I was thrilled to discover the ginger-coconut soba noodles, they were flavorful, satisfying, and perfectly balanced. Their current mika soba noodles with garlic-ginger coconut cream, vegetables, toasted cashews, and cilantro are exactly the kind of dish I'm thankful to find on a Peninsula menu. I also have fond memories of Burger Wednesdays from our time on the Peninsula. It's incredible how satisfying a customized portobello burger can be when a kitchen understands texture and seasoning especially in a place where plant-based options can still be scarce. The food is fantastic, but the service deserves a special mention. While Peninsula restaurants are known for their good service, The Depot's service is exceptional: polished, friendly, warm, and just the right amount of attentive. Although we now reside in California, we plan to make another reservation when we return to the Long Beach Peninsula in July. I'm already looking forward to their summer menu. Note: I've forgotten to take photos so the ones on this review are from the restaurants social media - definitely a reflection of our last meal at The Depot without the drinks.
