Foodie Alert! I went to Ricky's for a quick lunch date with my friend on a random Friday. It's a nice lil spot to grab a bite with great service. This was my first time there, and I wanted something small but with a lil kick, so I got the 6 nuggets, fries, and a Sprite. I got the nuggets hot, and let me tell you, they were HOT. There was too much seasoning on those little nuggets, so I couldn't enjoy the meal. But do not worry, I told the manager, and he fixed it right away with no problem. We came here for a late dinner, place was clean and bright. I've heard good things about Ricky's and they were right. I ordered a hot chicken sandwich but switched to a med. I do enjoy hot but I also like to enjoy my sandwich without sweating and huffin n puffin. The medium is pretty spicy as well. The chicken was tender, with a crispy breading. The slaw was perfect, vinegar base, which I like better than mayo based. The Mac was good wish it was bigger as a side but it was still good. Fabulous hot chicken. Private lot in a strip center for parking. We arrived at 11 when they open on a weekday. Ordered the birds nest and a sando with fries. Food came out hot and fresh. The heat was spot on for me. I'd recommend the first time you maybe level down one because their medium is hotter than other places. I usually order hot and the medium was about the same as hot at other places. The fries might be the best I've had anywhere. Service was prompt and kind. The only rec I have is regarding cleanliness. The tables and floors were a little sticky and the doors and glass were absolutely covered in smudges and fingerprints. The back wall was scuffed and could use a good coat of paint. One of the places that their heat scale is legitimate. Love the flavor, you decide how hot you want it. The scale is no heat to atomic. Go a little too high on the scale, and you might be changing your afternoon plans. The birds nest is a hot mess, in the best possible way. Update: revisited 2/24 All bird nests aren't created equal. If this was the first time I ever had one, I wouldn't have retried it. This time they asked for Cajun fries or regular? This place used to be my go to spot on the regular until they switched the cook I noticed the main guy that cooks the chicken really good is the one with the bandana/ with the face mask boy does he know how to cook! I ordered a mild chicken sandwich meal; I would usually go for medium but I decided to yield the prior warnings and go a level down in spice than I would normally, and I'm glad I did. I also got an order of the fireballs in medium. The fireballs are fried cheese curds tossed in the spice level of your choice. The sandwich was great, super buttery bun. The chicken was still crispy even after my hour long drive home, which was impressive. Had a great flavor to it. And the coleslaw cut through the salty/savory flavor nicely. I love ricky's. It is in a good location in the middle of everything, so it isn't a hassle to go. The front worker, who I believe was a blonde female, did not calculate my change correctly and I ended up having to go back up. She gave me $5 back instead of $20. Food is prepared in an open kitchen and comes out in no more than 5 minutes. The quality of the chicken is very tender and soft, not dry at all. This spot has indoor seating too so you can eat there or take it To-go. So they opened one in Arlington, which is way closer to my house and since I was in the area getting an oil change, I decided to give them a try. I went ahead and tried the Sando and I got it in mild to just try that out first before I start going up in heat and let me tell you, that sandwich was SO juicy and tasty. Had my ears ringing & tears flowing. Everything is seasoned perfectly. I love that their coleslaw isn't mayo based. The sauce is similar to canes sauce but better.
