UNSANITARY AND NASTY. I witnessed a worker preparing taco's popping a pimple and dig in their ears and proceed to handle food. RICO TACOS just because a worker has on dirty gloves does not mean that the food they are preparing the public is safe and sanitary. I visited Rico Tacos today while at a nearby business and witnessed a worker with dirty gloves on, pick up a dirty towel and clean his working area and proceed to with the same dirty gloved hands prepare taco's for a customer that was in front of me. NASTY. I approached the lady (cashier) behind the counter which by the way was extremely rude tell me no when I informed her what happened and said the worker will not change his gloves. She said this is how we do things around here. She was extremely rude because I mentioned this is how disease is spread, she said " I don't care, if you don't like it, don't eat here". I left immediately because NO I choose not to eat in a DIRTY ESTABLISHMENT and I immediately called the health department. If you care about your health and do not want extra "things" in your food, or risk GETTING SICK do not give this DIRTY establishment your business. The gloves were dingy like the worker had them on all day. I mean really how much does it cost to change into a clean fresh pair of gloves especially if it could make a customer sick. They are lacking in more than one way. For starters the customer service sucks here not welcoming at all. I ordered a burrito I had to tear off the tortilla where there was no meat no nothing. To be quite honest I feel like this is a copy cat of super taqueria which is waaay better not to mention the prices are a tad bit high for quality of food. Woman working register hates her life! Been coming here for years and years. I go at least once or twice a week if not more for lunch. I always tip $3 to $6 even if I'm getting to-go. Mind you, even when you eat there you order at the counter, get your own food and buss your own table. Never been hassled about salsa before. Today I ordered lunch for me and my wife. They gave me 1 small cup of red salsa and 1 green. I asked for 1 extra red and the cashier threw a fit. In the past they always have given me a few extra salsa no issue. She rolled her eyes and very rudely told me that they charge extra for salsa, I said okay. She then starts lecturing me on how "THIS TIME" she'll give it for free but next time she won't and it will be 60cents per salsa. I insist on paying for the salsa as I don't want to cause an issue. She again says snarky that she'll make an exception "THIS TIME ONLY" but that next time it's not going to be free. I walked out then decided to go back in and tell her I didn't appreciate the way she spoke to me, especially considering I come so often and ALWAYS tip, even if I get to-go. She told me "it's the same if you go to McDonalds and ask for sauce, this is a business". Business 101 is REPEAT customers. I've recommended this place FOR YEARS to so many family and friends because I really like the food here. Never again. Just came in today and ordered tostados and I didn't know it had beans since I'm allergic and the lady said I'd have to pay for the one I ordered already which I DIDNT have a problem doing. But it's the way she approached the situation with a nasty attitude and it's terrible service I told her why do you always mean mug me when I come in and she over reacted and made a whole scene. I work around the area and come here almost 2x a week and every time I see her she's super mean with an attitude and the other lady and her said I'm not allowed to come back which I will happily accept. The burritos I got were big in size but the overall taste + flavor was mediocre. Both meats were really chunky and I prefer smaller chopped meat. They offer both red (spicy) and green (mild) salsa but they were both average as well. I liked that the burrito was consistent and had a good amount of fillings inside. Overall average rating. Went to Ricos Tacos for the last time today. I live close and do not regularly go here but it was convenient. Now I remember why I haven't been here and will not go there again. 1. Service has always been slow and mildly kind at best. 2. Ordered a $4.61 bean tostada and received a cold corn tortilla piled maybe a 1/2"-2/3" of beans, sour cream, lettuce with 2 very large yellowish tomato slices on top. It was cold drippy and tasteless. 3. Bean burrito ($7.82) was average with very light cheese. 4. They charged an unannounced "Service Charge" of (3.98%) for using a Debit Card. (I guess because it was never displayed until payment was complete - illegal) CArds charge 1-3% to small businesses, so this is another profit generator. 5. I tipped $2 on a take out making a below average bean burrito and bean tostada $16.09!!! Also, no napkins or utensils were provided on a to go order. I would recommend Orale down Winchester or Los Maricos down Campbell Ave. for better food and or prices. Also a Taco Bell on Camden will serve a bean burrito and tostado for a lot less $ with better taste. read more

People think it may have, but who am I to say? I am a man of the people, not above but equal. And I am strictly hunting burritos with heft, super tacos that slap and salsas that pack flavor. Don't be stingy with the salsa. It's a bad, bad look. I saw an order for 13 super tacos and you put only gave them 3 salsa containers? That's barely enough for 2 tacos. No bueno. Here's the new idea and every taqueria needs to adopt this. Make bigger salsa containers to-go. Much bigger. I'm talking 6-8 oz to-go cups of salsa, along with your small ones, that you can give out for your larger to-go orders. your customers will love you for it. I know what you're thinking "Nishi, that's loco we can't be doling out that much salsa." Yes you can. Sure it's a little more of an expense, and you gotta find a supplier for those kind of to-go cups. But its absolutely necessary. The Salsa is part of the experience, the meal. Quality should never be sacrificed. Not in this kind of game. It's a game of inches Rico. When the orders flood in and the 5 star reviews stack up. Can you really put a price on that? A fellow yelper (I'm talkin' to you Julia S) turned me on to Rico's Tacos where the tacos are soooo good. For tonight's tacos, I had a buche (kind of oily from being fried) and a lengua...mmmmm good. When I eat the tacos, I notice two things: the lengua doesn't have a chemical smell/taste and both tacos have more meat inside than at other taquerias. It's true that there is no salsa bar, but you do get a salsa verde and a spicy red sauce that comes with the tacos. As for price, they're around $3.75, but 50¢ extra for lengua. I've seen this spot a few times but never came here till today. Was passing by after work and was craving a burrito and thought why not! So I came through and ordered a regular Carne Asada Burrito with a side of chips and salsa. $12 not bad for the amount of food you get. The burrito was really good! The carne asada had pieces with crunchy bits which is my jam. The burrito was filled with mostly meat and that's something that's hard to find these days. The flavor was there and as full as I got I could've easily put another one down. The chips and salsa was a bit of a surprise because the bag was filled packed with chips and you get enough salsa to accommodate that amount. The chips were fresh and crispy..and not oily. The kicker now:THAT GREEN SALSA, holy sh*t! That stuff packs some serious heat. Heat is right up my alley so I was happy! All in all it was a great experience and I kick myself in the butt for not coming here sooner. I will definitely be back as today was my first day here as a regular. I recommend Ricos and if you choose not to come that means more for me! Ha! In conclusion the reason for a 4 star and not a 5 star is one miniscule but important thing...I got no lime slices! I've been coming to this taco spot since they first opened years back. This place has the best tacos I've ever had. They have a simple menu so if your craving enchiladas, or fajita then this is not the place. I only gave it a 4 star because the young heavy lady that runs the cash register doesn't seem friendly. You will not get the warm feeling from her. She never has a smile on her face and when you ask her a question she doesn't respond, not even a node. And when you say thank you she doesn't say welcome. She is just not a people person so maybe she needs to work in the back, because when your up front customer service you need to have a smile on your face to great the customers that walk in. Our favorite taqueria. Family owned, it's a basic, no nonsense place with excellent food and reasonable pricing. This is where we bring friends and family who might be visiting. The super tacos (which are fried before wrapping them up) and flour quesadillas with fresh pico de gallo are my personal fave. Make sure you say "no sour cream" if that's the way you expect it. My only complaint is that the restrooms were closed for COVID and have never been reopened. read more

Never thought I'd see the day, but I just had the worst Mexican food in California. We thought we were going to a cute mom and pop restaurant, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I ordered a veggie burrito- the person (looked like the mom of the family) charged me extra for a super burrito even though I asked for a veggie option. I did ask for clarification on whether super meant veggie and she curtly replied there is a regular and a super option on the burritos and that I was getting a super option. I didn't say anything else because my first instinct was to be polite- plus I was hungry. My husband ordered lengua tacos- we later discovered he was charged $6 extra for extra lengua that he never even asked for. I got my burrito and it was tasteless- but I'm not one to waste food, so I ate it without complaining, just doused it with a lot of hot sauce. My husband, an executive chef whose speciality is Mexican cuisine, took one bite and left the rest on the plate on principle. He sat there fuming while I finished my "super" veggie burrito, and we left quietly without a word. He said his tacos were terrible (paraphrasing since I can't use profanity). He later told me the folks who work there were speaking ill of us in Spanish. It's amazing to me that these folks don't realize how many people actually do speak Spanish in this state.
