The goat tacos were amazing!! Very flavorful. The Chorizo taco was also very good. They also bring you out a trio of homemade salsas to go with the tacos. The portion size is also very good. Highly recommend! It's far and away my favorite taqueria in the vicinity of Philly. Lived in Texas and California for nearly 30 years so I know the real deal. Rico's Taco's is a taqueria and therefore they just serve tacos. They're good tacos, but don't come expecting any other food items. We tried to order a tamale off the menu but they weren't available on Saturdays even though the menu made it seem like they were. Since the only meat I eat is chicken, I was limited in my choices. The chicken tacos were the only thing I could eat. There are no options on the menu for vegetarians. Any tacos come with beans or soup, both of which contain pork. Therefore, I let my significant other have this side item. This didn't stop me from enjoying my meal though. I ordered two tacos and they had double corn tortillas pilled with chicken and topped with cilantro and onions. You are served three salsas. Two are green, and one was creamy and hotter than the others and then a red milder one. The salsas were all really good with actual heat and were what made the taco. You also get a bowl of radishes and some limes. The tacos come with a small piece of avocado which helps to add some texture as well. The tacos were large and less than three dollars. I was surprised that I was full from just two tacos, but I was since there was so much filling inside. My husband and I also split a horchata. It had good flavor, but the texture was a little chalky. I guess the rice didn't get ground smoothly enough. My husband ordered a couple different types of pork tacos and was very satisfied with them as well. He said the beans and the soup were good but salty. The service was very fast and friendly. We sat at the counter. I would definitely return for a quick cheap lunch if I was in the area. I had the beef quesadilla, which was alright. It's a bit expensive for what it is, and the cheese they used I did not like.

Delicious food. Brush up on your Spanish before going. The language barrier is a factor some might find off putting. I found it wonderful even if my Spanish is terrible. It added to the authenticity of the place. read more

Rico's Tacos recently opened in Norristown. If you've read my other reviews, you know that I am on a pilgrimage to go to every Mexican restaurant in Norristown. While I completed my original MexiQuest, new places open often and it's a never ending struggle to eat all these delicious tacos. First world taco problems. Anyway, Rico's Tacos are the bees knees. The place is the size of a closet, and has wonky times when it's open, so call first. But the tacos. Oh my god. They're like Mexican manna from the sky. The beef (not the steak, the steak can get stuffed) taco is like the Rapture is occurring in your face. The chicken taco is chunky and juicy. The tacos come with three (ARE YOU LISTENING? THREE) different salsas and they're all good. Also, you get like 87 pieces of lime and a handful of radish slices, and a random avocado slice with the skin on. Whatever. It's cool if you want to keep your clothes on, random avocado. So go there. Buy tacos. Put them in your face. Be happy. read more

I call Norristown "lil Mexico", there are many options but I'm comfortable with Rico's. I'm not crazy about the pork or chicken but the beef.... Yum!! The beef head and beef tongue tacos are amazing. AMAZING customer service!! The hostess was soo kind to us I can't even begin to describe the hospitality my friends and I were given while we dined here. That being said, the food here is good too. I got the tacos Dorado and they were good. Not what I was expecting but good nonetheless. Will be back for more. read more

Customer Service was horrible. I placed an order and asked for shredded cheese. Their shredded cheese was not the normal kind I asked for. When I called back to complain the lady explained that but I explained to her it should've been stated b4 ordering. She told me no refund which was fine but kept hanging the phone up on me. I went down there to take the food back and ask why she kept hanging up on me. the lady at the register gave me my money back; great. But then a young girl that works there tries to snatch the money from me. I snatch it back and rip the money up. It wasn't about the money it was the principal. I am glad I left because it would've been bad. I wouldn't suggest this place because with customer service like that imagine what they do to the food...The young girl was out of control also to even try to snatch the money from me. read more

They are a taco shop... Very delicious tasty tacos. (They have Pozole[whole hominy kernel soup] either (green or white) with (chicken or pork).... They serve it with taquitos (fried rolled up tacos filled with chicken), chicharrones (fried pork skin), chiles rellenos (jalapeño filled with fresh cheese), avocado, radish, fresh cheese, and tostadas, everything is on the side on a different plate of course. It's super delicious!!!!!! But they only serve that on Thursdays. They also have tortas during the weekdays... Love them!! You must try it!!!! So good, seriously. GO!! read more

Not much in the way of ambiance. Really small. Reminds me of a converted old coffee/diner spot. But the counter staff is super friendly. And the four tacos I had (two chicken, two pork) were simply divine. And at about $2.25 a pop, the price is awesome. Go here! read more

Sincronizadas were so tasty... Very fresh and simple. The Torta Cubana and tacos dorados were delicious as well. Most of all the food was reasonably priced. I even got to try grapefruit jarritos which I never had before. Great quick diner spot with authentic food and good service. read more

Wow Rico's Tacos makes some great tacos. Try the Barbacoa and Tounge - both are super delicious. $2.25 per taco is a steal too. Tacos are legit authentic: double-wrapped with legit corn tortillas and topped with cilantro and lime. Plus the tacos come with 3 different salsas (verde, roja, and a guacamole-ish salsa), a bowl of limes and radishes, and avocado on the side. Also, they provide soup for free with your meal: choice of bean soup or spicy beef soup. They have several agua frescas --- horchata is they way to go because the salsas can be spicy. I'm going to be stereotypical for a second. Rico's storefront signs are entirely in Spanish, which made me think, "Oh, this has gotta be authentic Mexican food. They're not even catering to English-only speakers!" Perhaps that's an ingenious marketing tactic; if so, it worked. It's a very small place with a diner counter and about three tables. I didn't see a menu posted anywhere, but the woman behind the counter provided one. Pretty limited menu, but that's not really a surprise with the word "tacos" in the name. Actually I should be surprised that they offered other items. Went on a Saturday and the woman told me they only had tacos that day. However, a whiteboard behind me said something about flautas being available on Saturdays and Sundays. (I know enough Spanish to understand that!) I wasn't concerned though. I came for the tacos, plus a small establishment like that tries to minimize costs wherever possible. If they didn't think they would have a great demand for flautas then they aren't going to make them. No points deducted there. We ordered four tacos ($2/taco!): two beef, a chicken, and a pork one. We had an option of beans or soup. In the five minutes it took to serve us, the woman set down a verde dip of some sort (It wasn't salsa, but I'd never seen it before) and radish slices. That was a really unique touch. We dipped the radishes in the sauce. Boy was it spicy! I was impressed. The tacos were delicious. She provided us with some diced pineapple for the pork taco. The beans are not your average baked beans. They are stewed in a beef broth with pork bits, hot dogs (??), and beef bones (adds succulence). As a gringo, I can only assume they are authentic, but I could be wrong. Be careful though about biting down on a bone fragment. I only encountered one. They are a cash only business, but they have a sign right at the cash register, so it's your fault if you order before realizing that. ¡Los tacos son riquísimos! The salsas were crazy good, all of them--- pure crack. We ordered the following types of tacos: cabeza, al pastor, and lengua. The cabeza and lengua are five stars, the al pastor is four stars because they were a bit dry. We also ordered cheese tamales, and they were bananas. they appeared to contain tomatoes, poblano (? my best guess) peppers, cilantro, oaxaca cheese, and some kind of sauce that ties everything together. Verdict: best tacos in the Philadelphia area. read more
