So I went out for a ride today and stopped at ride Brooklyn to pick up a lock, kickstand and a lock. Due to covid-19 only three customers were allowed in the store. After about 20 all customers left, I was still standing outside the store, were a gentleman came by looking for a cargo net. Immediately the gentleman was let inside the store getting helped as I still remained outside. I was clearly trying to make a purchase from this place since it's my local bike shop. But after today's service where I had to be serviced outside , I definitely will not be a customer here again.

Unfortunately, the experience has been consistently disappointing. While a few staff members have been friendly, there's been a recurring pattern of dismissive and somewhat condescending behavior across multiple visits. Questions and concerns often felt brushed off, and explanations of services -- like what a "free tune-up" actually includes -- were vague or incomplete. There were also several instances where the work itself didn't inspire confidence. A computer mount was left spinning despite being told it was secure, and on another visit, a mechanic refused to use carbon paste on a mount, which didn't feel appropriate for the component involved. What's most concerning is that this wasn't a one-off experience -- it's been a pattern over time. When communication and attention to detail are lacking, it starts to impact both safety and trust, especially on longer rides. Update (Jan 2026): I later found out that a tubeless setup I paid for had barely any sealant in the tires, which explains why a flat wouldn't seal. Another shop had to fix it. At this point, I've decided to take my business elsewhere. I'd recommend double-checking any work before leaving.

Panic insured as I realized I had left my rear axle in the Golden State!! It's 4:30 on Saturday when Keith gets a call from his buddy Vinnie at Bennet's Bicycle's on Staten Island asking if he has the non-standard axle I needed. At 6:30, Keith pulled up to Wagner College in Staten Island and delivered it to me in person. Unbelievable customer service and kindness. What I failed to mention to Keith is that I frequented Roy's Bikes while I was growing up in Brooklyn- many years ago!! Thanks Keith!!!

Heard that these guys do so I brought my bike here on Sat to get the brakes fixed, wheel trued and some screws tightened. Gave me a $60 quote and an hour wait. Cool, I left the bike there and took a walk to get some money (cash only). 10 minutes after I'd left (15 since I dropped off the bike), got a call saying they were done. Ok, so maybe they're really really good? Well, brakes are fine, wheel not any better, and screws def not tightened. Meh. Got a flat tire Monday night (2 days after my 'tune-up', go figure). Was told $20 and 10-minute wait. Fine. I waited outside for at least 20 minutes. They brought my bike out. Charged me $25. Whatever, it was cold and I needed to get home. Hopped on the bike and started pedaling. Rear wheel locked up. Took another 5 to fix their mistake. Alright. Time to go home. A few blocks down the road, rear fender got loose and started to rattle everytime I hit a bump. And the best part of it? My 8-speed IGH only goes up to 6 now. I agree with the other reviewer. They're definitely taking advantage of people just because they're licensed (?) to work with motorized bikes. Stay away.
