10/10. This is an establishment that I would recommend 100% of the time out of any establishment that I've ever been to in my life. They do not disappoint here. I ordered a giant burger and I always have the issue of needing to order more but the waitress told me that it'd fill me up. Fill me up it did. Not only were the portions fantastic, the food was beyond delicious. Out of the multiple items I ordered I was not disappointed once. Service was fantastic. Friendly waitresses. Food was prepared rather fast! Took like 5-10 minutes at most. The look of the restaurant doesn't look like much but by all means once you get inside, it gives this rural homestead feel. I live 40 minutes away but I plan on coming back many times and bringing friends with me! read more

This place is awesome. First off the waitresses are extremely nice and professional. So courteous. They have a dedicated person who is always ready with coffee in the morning and friendly. The decor is kitschy but not too much. Very country and welcoming. Now the food. It is sooo delicious. Not overly seasoned. I havent yet had a meal I didnt like. The portions are just right and sometimes you have leftovers. The chipped beef on toast is cooked perfectly. Not too thin or thick with no taste of flour. French toast soo fluffy with a hint of vanilla. You cant go wrong with french toast. The best though is their patty melt. It is sooo good. The patty itself is smashed with the fried onion and cheese melted perfectly. I could eat one everyday. Everyone needs to go there. Awesome read more

The service here was top notch. We randomly found this breakfast spot on Yelp and the photos were a true representation of what was served ! The Delmonico steak and eggs were really tasty. Did NOT need any A1 sauce at all. I got them with grilled tomatoes instead of onions. On point !!! read more

Good large portions of diner food. This is a Jersey county diner you get large helpings of not so good for you food. Biscuit and gravy, eggs and porkroll, meatloaf sandwich if those are not your jam go elsewhere but if some plentiful filling food is what your looking for they will come though. read more

Alpha Family Restaurant is named after the village in which it is located. It didn't even show up as "Nearby" when I did a Yelp scan. I was glad to drive by someplace as close to the local municipal court so that I knew I would have time for a quick breakfast before the morning call. Walking in from the left side facing the building, the ample dining room was to the right, and the split counter to the left. The kitchen entrance lie between the two wings of the stool sets. First impression was that a thorough cleaning would be a great idea, but this was a once in a lifetime visit, and I could overlook the back wall shelves full of who-knows-what. The one server looked to have been there for a long time, and the chef who came out of the kitchen often to deliver platters or chat with his favorite customers, was likely the owner. This morning was special because I travelled with my +1 so she could take in the beauty of the Delaware River north of Lambertville up through Frenchtown. She was duly impressed. So, we took a couple of stools at the counter, introduced ourselves to the madame of the house, and ordered French Toast, Sausage, Egg & Cheese Sandwich on Kaiser, and Java. Our hostess assured us that they did these dishes well. Who was I to doubt? She was quite right. My French Toast was nicely caramelized with crispy edges, and totally absorbed egg. A shmear of butter and a dose of the "syrup" in those small sealed packets, and I was a happy man. The taste was very good. The sandwich looked a bit disheveled when it arrived, with the egg extending over the side of the roll, and the circumcised sausage links showing their fannies, too. Still, the bite & chew was nice; everything fresh and cooked right. We split everything, and were satisfied with our breakfast. A little elbow grease and a touch more pride in their house, and Alpha could easily earn its name. read more

Love this little place. Ordered dinner for my family. The staff is very friendly and polite. They didn't have an online menu but texted me pictures of their menu. Great service. I ordered the Patty Melt with fries. Delish. My daughter had the chicken fingers and fries. She enjoyed it. Her meal came with cole slaw, which I ate. Also delish just a little runny. This is a hidden gem! My dad and aunt are creatures of habit and make it a point to stop in here whenever they are in town. The staff never forgets a face or an order. We sit down and they remember exactly what we had last time. That's a great establishment! They always work with people to move around so there is space available with little to no wait. The food is awesome. Portion sizes are big - I always take something to go. Full diner menu and will work with any suggestions or allergies. This is a cute little place in Alpha. There isn't a ton in Alpha so this definitely does the trick. I had a chicken dinner. The portions are huge but also kind of ehhhh on the flavoring (though I will say, the spinach was cooked perfectly!). If you come here, I suggest getting the diner-type food-- sandwiches or breakfast. My significant other had the reuben (it is an open faced reuben) and onion rings that looked great (and he said they were good). The server was super sweet. While we aren't seniors, they have great specials for seniors Monday- Thursday. That may explain why we were the only ones there under the age of 60. read more

Very disappointed here! Had the Manhatten clam chowder for appetizer, diced potatoes in it were hard and under cooked, 1 clam found in the cup, and served luke warm. The basket of rolls were so stale they crumbled into pieces when attempted to butter. The chicken dinner came (generous portion) reheated mashed potatoes were dry and had a crust on them. The chicken also over backed and very dry. My fountain cola was flat, and when I brought it to the attention of our waitress, she took it and added selzer to it! Wow, now fizzy and tasteless! The men's room was dirty and in poor shape (body shops have cleaner restrooms), the flooring around the counter area filthy and in bad repair as is the counter top. It has the typical all day breakfast, but it goes beyond diner classics. The scallops are one of their best dishes. Portions are generous, but prices are modest. Went there with my wife for an early dinner on a late Saturday afternoon. Only two other tables were occupied. A very friendly middle aged waitress greeted us and told us to seat anywhere we want. She brought over 4 fresh but cold dinner rolls with butter. We ordered a fried seafood combo and a daily special halibut with crab stuffing, both came with a choice of soup or salad. We chose crème of broccoli. Couple minutes later, she bought over two bowls of Manhattan clam chowder. After we corrected her, she apologized and everything was fine after that. Both entree were excellent and came with two side dishes, corn, string beans, French fries, and mash potato. The fried seafood consists of jumbo shrimp, oyster, crab cake, scallop, and flounder, were all very juicy inside and crispy on the outside, without any oily or greasy feel to it. The stuff halibut was oven broil with the crab stuffing spread over the top of the fish, not stuff inside. Nevertheless it was very tasty. All in all, we had a delicious dinner and there was so much left over we had enough doggy bag for lunch the next day. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Alpha was recommened by someone who worked on the Phillipsburg train. Went up there for pumpkin picking with the kids. That was fun! We asked the gentleman if there was a diner in the area he recommended. He said Alpha! So we went. Parking was fine. The place is stuck in the 80's, cheap chairs, wood paneling, nasty carpet in the dining area. Went to the restroom to wash our hands, nasty bathroom. We ordered some basic items...a reuben, a chicken burger, hot dog, all with fries, soda, juice. The reuben had way too much cheese, terrible. The chicken burger was a frozen patty thrown on the grill, dry and flavorless. And for all this we paid about $27!!!! Sorry but that's prices more suited for NY, not Phillipsburg.
