Their gunsmith services are top-notch both in skills and customer service. I had stripped the Allen screw on my EOTECh to my AR-15 upper receiver and took it to get to see about getting it removed. I've purchased a Glock 19 and a LWRC DI from these guys and both times I had great experience. I wasn't upsold either time and I found them extremely friendly BEFORE they realized I was going to drop cash in the store. I've made other, smaller purchases there and spent many days just browsing around and I'm treated the same way every time. I've asked annoying questions about rifles I'll never be able to afford and they readily answered all my questions without treating me as the pest I was. I'll definitely go back for my next purchase. It's nice to have a firearms store in my town that has as complete of an inventory of AR parts as does RifleGear. If I need a pin, spring, detent, they will usually have it in stock. If you want to buy a ready built rifle, pistol, or shotgun, they have a large inventory of different brands as well as having an experienced and knowledgeable to help you make your selection. I've been eagerly anticipating RifleGear since I read the notice in the Collin County Business Journal early in the year. I stopped in today and WAS NOT impressed. The selection was mediocre to interesting at best. As an avid shopper and modest hobby shooter, I spend a fair amount of time comparing prices. RG has high prices online, and the store is no exception. They are WAY higher than Academy, on par with Cabellas, maybe lower than Guns and Gear To Go. Beautiful store, but very sparse. The issue is service. Literally they are all 20-somethings in blue jeans and t shirts. All of their competition are very professional, well dressed (in uniforms), and all business. We I came in, they were all jaw jacking about racing Hondas and generally just talking smack. This is West Plano--where SERVICE separates the boys from the men. Customers shop hard, expect professional decorum, and expertise. We can go to Walmart if we want grunge. It may survive, it may not. They are going to need to tighten up the reins after the hard open, because this is a tough town. read more

The response from him was Basically we are right you are wrong too bad deal with it. Staff was always good and other than the Manager today had no issues. Just completed my LTC this past weekend and I highly recommend taking it with Kyle at Rifle Gear. He is extremely knowledgable and professional, but also funny and kept the class engaged (the 6 hours flew by!). I'm new to the area, however I've been a Riflegear customer for a long time, dating back to their Fountain Valley store. My review is for my experience here at the Plano shop. I don't know what another reviewer was disappointed with when he was referring to the selection, because the selection is huge here. Maybe he has a valid point, if you're expecting traditional hunting rifle & shotguns. I don't hunt, so I probably didn't pick up on that. But the selection is great if you're looking for handguns or rifles in general. I haven't shopped around at other LGS since just moving here, so I can't compare prices, but it seems on par with online pricing. Aside from just firearms, they offer knives, optics, archery "things", belts, packs, holsters, ect. For me it was really hard for me to find a gun belt for conceal carry, because not alot of shops have something you can actually hold in hand. It's hard to commit to purchasing something that important based on what you read or see online, without touching it. Here, it's very hands on. The greatest thing I have always found about Riflegear above all other gun shops, was the customer service. In FV it was phenomenal, not intimidating & not some slimy sales pitch. It was pretty genuine & always helpful, regardless if you purchased something this time or not. Here in Plano, the service & attention is almost on par to FV. I've never had a rude moment or a pressured sales here, but aside from the guys that came here from FV, the service is just a bit off. I don't mean it in a bad way & I can't explain it. Maybe it's just my comfort & prejudices & it's just me. I've always been treated well & I've never seen anyone ignored or been poor customer service. I also took my CHL class here with Dave & that was a great offering to have. The class itself was a great & very informing experience. I wish I had a much more liberal bank account to buy up the store, but until then, I'll always come here & feed my vice here piece by piece. It was truly a wonderful gift to move here & shortly have my favorite firearm shop literally open up down then street from me. A piece to remember home by. In short: Go here for your pew pew pews. Live right here and never visited before today. Went in to ask about some gunsmithing (repair), building an AR over time with their help and guidance (first timer) and to ask about Bore Sighting for a Carbine I recently bought. Johnny was very helpful and so was his manager. Gun shop guys can be a little standoffish and condescending sometimes but not these guys the were great. Johnny laser bore sighted the laser and the scope on my new to me carbine and wouldn't even let me pay for it. They had a much larger selection than what I expected. I will certainly be back for my first AR build. read more

As a former California native I'm very familiar with the original RifleGear in Fountain Valley, CA. The store in Plano is just as great as the original store, perhaps slightly better. The staff is pretty laid back and friendly, always helpful. Went there with my fiancé and the staff was very knowledgeable in terms of helping her find a gun that would suit her needs. Pretty close to my office so I will definitely be dropping in from time to time for parts and whatnot. RifleGear is a great firearms store. The store has an upscale feel to it with everything laid out well. They have plenty of rifles, pistols, ammo, and accessories for you to browse around the store. The employees are all professionally dressed, very friendly and are always close at hand to help you when you need them. It is nice that a full service gun store is open seven days a week (excluding holidays). Another nice addition to this store is they have gunsmith services on-site. The selection of rifles and pistols is above average compared to other gun stores. The prices are comparable to other stores and they did have several items on sale each time I visited the store. The accessories are priced well and the store has a good selection of Magpul products. I was able to pick up a nice iPhone case in the clearance selection of accessories. RifleGear offers several classes each month. Some classes are offered for free. The classroom was setup well with comfortable chairs and tables. The class I was in was well lit and held at least 25 students. I took a firearms basics class and our instructor was very knowledgeable, friendly, and took the time to answer every question even after the class was over. read more

This is most definitely the best "modern" gun shop in DFW. The stock everything from hard to find shooting gear (HSGI for example) to SilencerCo suppressors. The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and ready to help customers of vastly different backgrounds and experience levels; from the newbie to the old pro. Ordered "new" Sig Legion P220 DA/SA online then picked up the same day after couple of hours. I chose to order from this store because they have one already in stock according to their website and it's near my home. I did a quick inspection (just glanced) in store prior to final purchase which is obviously not thorough enough hence that's on me. I figured since I'm buying a new pistol, whatever issues I find I can directly deal with the manufacturer. I did not anticipate RifleGear selling me a "new (not really)" pistol. As soon as I got home, I disassembled to thoroughly clean then noticed few scratches. Now it is not the wear that bothers me. It is the fact that this gun was a shelf gun and it's obvious that the gun I purchased has been handled and played with too many times. I only realized that I received a shelf gun after I returned to the store and noticed they no longer have one on display. I have no idea how many times it has been dry fired. read more

I went in today, for my first time ever. I am a younger person and I tend to always get treated as if I'm not worth the time at gun stores because of my age and I was expecting the same treatment here. I walked in and was greeted by three members standing at the front desk and they immediately asked if they could help me. I told them why I was there and one of them immediately began helping me and answering my questions very thoroughly. I was immediately blown away, because it was just me, and my girlfriend and we are both young. The gentleman helping me was VERY knowledgeable and helpful and honest about what I can expect from certain parts in my AR rifle. I was highly appreciative of how helpful he was and wish I had gotten his name. I thanked him and continues to look around with my girlfriend and then another gentleman came over and offered us help finding anything and I asked about grips for a p238 pistol and he provided us with info about the grips and showed what he had in stock, he was also very helpful. Then about 10 mins later a third red bearded gentleman came along and offered help finding anything and I asked him some questions about a fostech trigger and springs and he explained to me what would work best in my rifle, and then showed me what spring came with a different binary trigger and then even went to a website to shoe me where I could buy the spring I needed and the price. After I checked out, the entire staff was all very friendly and thanked me for coming in multiple times and wished me a good day. I am BLOWN AWAY with this level of customer service, as I am not used to this level of treatment at any firearms establishment I visit. Just off of the service alone I would AND WILL return for future purchases. Absolutely wonderful visit. Also, the store is very modern looking and large. It res3mbles a much nicer much more organized version of the old cheaper than dirt in McKinney and has a vast selection of anything from AR platform rifles, to bolt action long range rifles, and even plenty of pistols to choose from. Even things such as supressors and plenty of gun accessories, to apparel and tactical gear. I highly recommend this gun store to any gun enthusiast, or anyone with an interest in firearms. Bought my first weapon Saturday at Rifle Gear. Came in near closing time and asked if they wanted me to come back the next day due to the time involved in keeping Uncle Sam happy and assured that I was a rightful gun owner, paperwork dance etc. "Heck no!" they all replied, practically in unison. I finally pulled the trigger (pun intended) and bought a gun I had looked at three previous times at the store and shopped online for at well known gun selling sites. The service was amazing, quick, friendly and complete. The price? Cheapest by 32% over anyone else in DFW or on line that I could find. Good prices and great service make me know that I have found my go to store for weapons and service. Shocker fact: These guys came to Texas from California but don't worry they act like Texans and moved their HQ here. read more

Rifle Gear is a great facility! Not only do they have a very impressive line of high-end firearms, each and every one of their employees seem very knowledgeable and more than happy to help share their insights with you. Their facility is a large showroom, very well lit and they have an entire section of their store set up with an impressive line of Sig Sauer guns on display (and that's just one of the several large displays of guns). They also are open 7 days a week! In the several times I've been looking for a hard to find high-end gun, I've been quite impressed that they have it in stock, each time. These are guns which other stores around town have either said would be an "unknown" wait time, or in one case a 3-6 month potential wait... and Rifle Gear had 5 of them in stock! I've now bought guns from them and also had them do some light work on another firearm. I also feel welcome as I stop by just to dialog with the employees as I continue learning about options as I consider my next firearm purchase. Unfortunately, many employees at other gun shops have a bit of a militant and stand-off'ish attitude, but that isn't the case here at all. The team is welcoming, friendly and professional. Frankly, I expected that with their top notch customer service, fancy retail space and obvious investment in high-end gear that their prices would be a bit higher than normal - but that hasn't been the case. Their prices have consistently been competitive with others in town, or slightly lower than what I find around town at other stores. Obviously, I have quickly become a fan! Knowledgeable and friendly staff. They offer to help but don't pressure you about anything. The store can seem a little pricy compared to online but they are brick-and-mortar. However, when they run sales and specials its similar to online pricing or beats those prices. You can also find good prices on some things every day. Some rifle bags and slings are the same there as online or cheaper. I got an Aimpoint red-dot for about $10 cheaper than anywhere online during a sale, and got to take it home and put it on. During another sale, I got a Magpul X22 Hunter stock for $106, cheaper than ANYWHERE online. I'm very happy to spend time and money at Rifle Gear. Its great to have a store like this locally, and its way better than Cabela's for tactical-style gear. read more

I went to RifleGear today and wasn't sure what to expect since I'm not an expert. The sales staff was so knowledgeable and helped me so much and I immediately felt relaxed. I don't know much about guns but I quickly learned. Justin gave me a quick lesson and in 30 shots I went from missing the target to hitting the bullseye several times. He was such an amazing instructor. I was so excited about my new purchase and new knowledge. I look forward to going back for more practice. I've been shopping at this Plano store since it opened in April 2015. During my first visit to the store in in April, I noticed two things: 1) the staff was FANTASTIC. 2) The layout was incredibly clean and streamlined and the selection of firearms has steadily improved since their grand opening to an impressive level. At the time I was told that the selection was going to expand and to expect more item categories. Let me say, they have held true to their word. If you've only visited the store during the first two months it was open (April/May 2015), I would suggest you give it another look. Their selection has dramatically improved. They have a fantastic selection of handguns, rifles (black rifle and bolt action), shotguns, custom guns (Nighthawk Custom 1911s...very nice), suppressors, and even archery items. They also have access to items that are not on display, so if you have a particular item in mind, just ask and they can easily order it for you (from their Fountain Valley shop or other sources). Overall, I feel that their pricing is on par with other stores in the area and they carry some quality merchandise. The employees are very knowledgeable, and each person seems to have their own specialty. They are patient and NOT high-pressure. I've been treated with the same excellent service regardless of whether or not I've purchased anything. It's obvious that the people working here really like firearms and shooting sports. They have all been great to talk with. Overall, Excellent, professional customer service. Also, I disagree with other reviews knocking the store because the employees wear casual clothing. Honestly, I would feel strange if the employees were all wearing suits. Seriously, I'm trying to buy a gun, not a Lamborghini for Pete's sake. It seems that some of the more experienced shooters expectations are based on a different time and environment for guns. Just because someone has been shooting for thirty years does not mean they have been doing it properly. I appreciate the advice given to me by the range hands. I have been shooting long over 30 years but was taught by the old school shooters. I was little stiff that this young guy came and told me my right thumb was incorrectly placed on my new pistol. I have been shooting revolver handguns all those years. But when the young man explained it to me the proper right thumb and left thumb position it made lots of since. This is a different world so many new shooters need help. Like the restaurant business with COVID it is much more difficult to manage the kind of customer satisfaction that we used to enjoy. My first time to Rifle Gear, I was a little disappointed it was a busy day and I had to fill out all the paperwork. When you look at all the scary things going on with people that should not have guns but do, trying to judge good from bad takes certain awareness on all of our parts. Watch the news everyday and see the shootings that take place. We need to have an understanding of the need for rules to maintain our right to own guns. I have purchased 3 pistols from RifleGear. I don't know if they were a bargain or not. I do know I picked them up and shot them the same day with ammo that I could not buy elsewhere. I was able to buy my wife a gun that really worked for her. She was able to take a lesson from a nice young man that helped her quite a bit. You know wives don't always listen to husbands. LOL. All the staff has been very attentive with me and my family. Like anywhere some more friendly than others but that is in any business. These people have been extremely busy in tough times. Quickly got on a 25yd lane despite the magnet run over every magazine we had. Lanes are nice and the place is well kept. I will likely not shoot there again however, as the Range attendants are way too present, overbearing and when they talk to you condescending. It ruined an otherwise good experience. read more
