After being warmly welcomed by Kali I spoke with Dane who was extremely knowledgeable, listened carefully to my situation, and walked me through several options without any pressure. He was professional, courteous, and took the time to make sure I had exactly what I needed before I left. I honestly learned more in 15 minutes talking with him in the store than I did after spending hours researching forums and groups trying to solve issues with my FX6 filter setup. It is rare to find someone who genuinely cares more about helping you succeed than simply making a sale. It's hard to put into words just how amazing this place is. The team is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what they do. This store is located beside Salerno's Italian Restraurant. The selection of freshwater fish was pretty good. I saw some cool saltwater fish/products, but those are out of my wheelhouse so I didn't look too much. I was greeted and assisted soon after I arrived. This is a better spot to buy your fish than a large chain, in my experience. If you are a new fish keeper do your own research well in advance before going and buying fish or aquariums. Just because someone works at a store doesn't mean they have all the answers, nor should you take one person's view or information on all fish. Do your own research. There are plenty of helpful videos online for everytype of fish you have a question about. Think about walking into Home Depot and asking the guy in plumbing all your plumbing questions - in the words of Joe Exotic, "guess what mother f*ck3r?" He probably ain't a licensed plumber. Same concept for all other stores. Prices are better than large chain stores and fish are more likely to be healthier. I will make this my go to spot in Flower Mound for my fish needs. read more

Staff is unprofessional never have I experienced worse customer service. We were not greeted at the door when we were the only customers to come in. I had to ask for help multiple times while still being the only customer in the store. I was disrespected by the female worker. Half of the store isn't even for sale it's on hold for someone or simply marked not for sale. The salt water selection couldn't be worse. The petco down the street has a wider selection of high quality fish and coral. It's a joke that the petco down the street had better quality selection and an overwhelmingly better staff. At petco I guess they actually teach their employees customer service. To have so many fish not available in a retail store is ridiculous and just bad business. Don't even waste your time here just make the trip up to Dallas North Aquarium. read more

My 14 year old son has a salt water tank he wemt to this store to get a Blue Tang(Dory) and is also bought a Coral Beauty. The Blue Tang was in a tank with a dead fish, we took him home he died 4 days later. He had Ich(white spots disease). We tried to treat the fish(water) for Ich because we didn't want our other 4 fish ill. We called after the fish died and they refused to give a new fish or even a discount for us to replace it!! Went in yesterday to find a fish for my tank. Pretty disappointed in the experience. The associate (not sure what his name was-bigger guy) helping me was incredibly unfriendly. I wanted a fish for my five gallon tank. I had to find him and ask each time if a certain fish would work. All I got out of him was a mumble, a no without any explanation why or which fish would work for my tank, and spoke with an uppity tone seemingly annoyed I was asking for help. I don't know anything about fish and was given a tank for a gift along with a gift card to Rift to Reef. I would've bought anything he showed me that would work. Long story short I left without getting anything. Customer service goes a long way... if you have a small business and want to keep it open I suggest caring a little more about making a sale-not brushing customers off. read more

I spent several hours in the store with him having a highly technical conversation about reef aquariums. He is clearly an expert. I was super excited to check this place out after buying a tank, it was a very middle of the road experience. The one guy working didn't know about freshwater fish and when somebody showed up that could help he was too busy. I ended up spending $100 on 3 fish that all died within a month even though everything else in the tank was fine and I monitor my water quality religiously. The store was really cool, but the experience was overall disappointing. I think they'll get it down at some point, but until then I'll head to Dallas North Aquarium. read more

I was thinking about automating my salt water aquarium with an Apex controller and found this place on the Neptune Apex website. They have a large beautiful showroom and many reasonably priced, unique coral frags. I had heard how complex setting up an Apex controller is but was assured with their help it could be done. I ended up purchasing from them and of course needed a little bit of help. The customer service I received was astounding. The first person I spoke with helped me with most of my questions but wasn't sure about one thing so she said she would get back with me. Within minutes the owner called and got me up and running even to the point of checking my controller settings online. It's a bit of a drive for me but I will be returning to get some of the beautiful corals on display. read more

I'm pretty disappointed with the service I have received. Staff is not very knowledgeable about fresh water fish and shrimp. Yet at least half of the store is fresh water. Prices are a bit high. You can walk into the store and look around and no one will help you unless you flag them down. Staff can be very rude at times. The last couple of times I swung by the store to purchase water I felt practically invisible. Staff didn't greet me nor asked me if I needed help with anything. I was non existent. I filled up my own containers and carried them to the front of the store. I had to wait for someone to come to check me out. I was the only person in the store when this happened. Not reputable! Been in 5 or more times. We bought several $100s worth of salt water fish and supplies. The people that work here are never really eager to greet you, even when you make a large purchase! We were in over a half hour looking at a fish tank one time, yet no one was helping us or bothered with us. We have also had some fish die within a week and within two weeks of purchasing at different times from here, the young men that sold us the fish were not helpful about why they died (blamed us) and not willing to reimburse. We know it wasn't our fish tank environment at our house because we had other living fish at that time that are still alive, also we bought fish from other stores and those fish did not die either. Only the fish we bought from this store were the ones that died. Since we spent so much money on these fish it would've been nice if they would've excepted responsibility for having unhealthy fish to begin with, maybe offer a refund or discount....that was an expensive investment to get no refund! Also my sister lives near this store and she used them multiple times to come clean her fishtanks, each time they came out a couple of fish would die each time they would clean her tank, finally her eel died, she stopped using them of course ! Again this store and it's staff would never take responsibility ....for example by killing her fish when they cleaned her tanks. She uses another company now and they have not once killed any of her fish??? Not reputable!!! Never going back. read more

I understand you come to these smaller businesses knowing the price is going to be a little higher, it usually pays off by the good customer service. This is by far one of the best stores in town. They are a little far to be my go to store but they are worth the trip every few weeks. Prices are good and the staff is great. I contracted R2R to move a 24x24x78 built in aquarium from a house in Corinth, TX to Lewisville, Tx. The distance between the houses was 9 mi. An employee named Cole gave a rate of $100.00 for the total move and assured me that they do this all the time. 30 min prior to arrival I got a call from their service manager, Max, who wanted to confirm the size of the tank as he thought he'd need suction cups. I texted the dimensions of the aquarium and told him that the seller thought the tank was 160G. When they arrived they were nice and appropriately dressed, but there were only two guys and no tools. I informed them that I didn't contract them for me or the homeowner to help, and they again assured me that they move tanks this big on a regular basis. I told them that the most important thing was that they not damage the sellers house and told them specifically about the painted walls. They attempted to pull the tank out using two (2) suction cups, but found the tank would not shimmy out; it had to be pulled straight out. They attempted to see if they could shimmy it a bit and on the second manipulation took a chunk out of the wall that I specifically told them about. The homeowner immediately told them to stop and they pushed the tank back in. After about 25 minutes of them trying to figure out a way to get the tank out, they requested that the homeowner allow them to use their dining room table as a support for them to get the tank out. I immediately told them that this was not an option. I asked if they had anything at the shop that would do the trick and they said they had a 4-wheeler that would work perfectly. As left to get the cart, and I had a strange feeling that I'd just given them their out. I got a call about 20 minutes later stating that they could not move the tank for the quoted price and I'd have to prepay and additional $700.00 in order to get them to return -- a total of $800.00. I did not agree to their new terms and requested to speak with the manager who was not available. After two subsequent calls, I was finally connected to the owner who informed me that I'd lied to Cole on our initial conversation. When I asked where he was confused, I was told (1) that I'd originally told Cole that it was a 60G, (2) R2R rates are $99.00 per hour with a 2 hr min, and (3) the $100.00 that I prepaid was a deposit not the total for the move. When I asked if the dimensions of 24x24x78 were what Cole remember, I was told yes. When I asked why I was charged $100.00 instead of $99.00 he had no answer. When I asked why Max also knew of the $100.00 flat rate and the dimensions of the tank, I was told that I was mistaken and heard what I wanted to hear. When I asked why nobody there could do a simple 5th grade volume equation, the owner told me, and I'm quoting him exactly, "for me to go F**K myself. I asked Max if he could show the owner the text I sent him earlier in the day, and was told by the owner that no text was delivered. When I offered to come to the store with my phone showing the texts were delivered, I was told not to come. When I offered to pay for a lie detector for Cole and Max to see who was telling the truth, I was told that both were long term employees and one was even a family member. The owner stated that no matter what the outcome of the lie detector was, he'd still believe his employees. Over the next 5 minutes of the conversation, the owner (1) proceeded to call me a liar on multiple occasions, (2) cursed at me numerous times, and (3) threatened to sue me if I wrote any type of negative review of his service. At this point, I felt no reason to continue the conversation and hung up. Dallas North Aquarium moved the aquarium with four (4) professional workers, for $150.00. The 45 minute move was quick, clean, and left no damage to the homeowners house or to the tank. I cannot tell you how disappointed with R2R I am. I could understand if Cole and Max were uncomfortable or unable to move the tank. Sometimes you just get in over your head to help a customer or make a sale. What I cannot tolerate is being called a liar. being blamed for their incompetence, and most importantly cursed out repeatedly by the owner when he's trying to justify a 700% renegotiation. Own up to your mistake or inability to complete a job, don't blame the customer. I would avoid R2R at all costs. read more

The staff here is good but the owner doesn't care about his customers just how much money he can make. Coral is over priced and are not in good condition to begin with, frags should not be covered in algae. Every display tank had Aptasia growing in them, shows a lack of pride in keeping tanks clean. Used my discount with their own reward program and had the owner question me about my purchase because I had so many points built up. Owner was suppose to come look at my tank to see why corals weren't doing good, tried to show him a picture while in the store and he said he was to busy and to email him the photo instead. Said he would call to schedule an appointment to help with corals. Never heard from him, got Dallas North to come out the same day and look at my tank and help me get it back in control. Will never go back to this store again. Have never had an owner act so rude. Owner has since discontinued rewards program. Frank's Tanks is a way better store and the people there truly care about fish and enjoy their job. read more

I had a 24x24x78 built-in aquarium that I sold to someone and he hired Rift2Reef to move it for him. Two gentlemen came to my house to move the aquarium and not only didn't get it out of my house but damaged my walls in the process. Their profanity around my grandchildren when they could not figure out how to get it out made it worse. They ended up leaving to go get a support cart that they could use, but ended up calling the buyer and wanting more money. After speaking with the buyer, he stated that their rate went from $100.00 for the job to $800.00 and wouldn't come back unless it was prepaid. I've now had to postpone my carpenter due to their incompetence. It would have been better if they'd had just told me that they were in over their heads and couldn't get the tank moved. Instead they tried to force it and ended up damaging a wall that I will not be able to repair. I would not hire this company for anything as they are unprofessional and dishonest. read more
