Extremely alright bbq. I am a food snob, particularly a BBQ snob, so if you aren't you might think this place is just fine. I think it's a bit pricey for the portion, but I understand good prices are ridiculous right now so that's okay. 1/4 sandwich that won't be an ounce over because they measure it in front of you (not that you can see the readout on the scale), I mean I get consistency but I feel like that's a bad look especially when I can't even see what your measuring. The meat is very under seasoned and I found the pork dry. Your bbq meat shouldnt NEED sauce, but this did :(. The brisket was good texture wise but needed salt pretty bad. They were out of spicy red so we had the sweet red. Sweet was pretty much the only flavor. Tasted like ketchup & honey mixed together with chili powder & paprika. The fries were nice and crispy and the portion was large. Very fresh. The macaroni had too much Italian seasoning but I like the corkscrew pasta. Overall we won't return but this place probably does good business with the tastes of demographic in the area. read more

As someone coming from out of state it was a very interesting experience. Aside from the location being not too far from my hotel the environment was very welcoming. Employees were very helpful in making my decision. I chose to go with the pull pork sandwich and I gotta say the choice of sauce (white sauce) the employees recommended really hit the spot. Staff was welcoming when I came in. I was a first time guest and so I had some questions about the quality and per pound options. Staff was not very knowledgeable. Younger girl was yelling bossing others around which in my opinion wasn't a good look for the place. Kid at the register was very nice and helpful & honest when he didn't know if a pound would feed a family of 4. Th at I can appreciate. BBQ was good. Mac n cheese was good until I got to the bottom where it was all burnt pieces. Large order of fries was very small for 5.95, I had to ask for more. While visiting the area we decided to grab some bbq on our way home. The staff is super friendly and beyond nice! Brisket: Tasty and juicy in the thinner part, the middle was a bit dry to my liking. Sides were coleslaw and baked beans: I was not crazy about the coleslaw. Baked beans are vegan, sweet and very tasty! Banana pudding is TO-DIE-FOR absolutely amazing, we didn't want it to end while eating it. They make it fresh each morning. A must to order while at this place! read more

I had all but given up on barbecue in the state of Georgia. I've tried several other barbecue places around town. Garbage. This place has the best barbecue, best brisket, best ribs and best mac & cheese that I have had in the state of Georgia. Hands down. I highly recommend. I only wish it was closer to home. read more

I have never been there before as do not typically like smoked meats. My son went there and brought me back some wings that he told me were the best he ever had. I was a little skeptical to say the least but reheated the wings for dinner in the air fryer and were still probably one of the best wings of my life. Underwhelming!!! I got the brisket sandwich and the flavor was just ok. There was a lot of fat and not much meat. I got fries as a side and they were stingy with the fries. My wife got the brisket by the ounce and again a lot of fat. She got fries and they were stingy with hers too. For $4.00 for frozen fries I think they could give you more. She also got the Mac and cheese and it was not flavorful. It was cold. She did like the white Alabama sauce. Our bill came to just under $37 for two meals and we had to go find something to afterwards. Employees were nice but some were lying around on the benches. We were very disappointed. read more

Bravo! :-D Now that the sermon has ended: onto singing the praises of the food! Yes - this is soul-saving barbecue, as the slogan proclaims on the cup! Get your slice of heaven in the form of moist, white meat chicken breast -- no gristle, dark meat, or fat blobs like some other places. Three superb bbq sauces enhance the meat or even the sides: sweet red, spicy red, and spicy white. Sandwich bread is excellent! The crunchy slaw is nice, too -- I think it's made on the dry-and-crunchy side on purpose so it can be put on the sandwich, mixing and melding with the bbq sauce without getting too soggy, while adding crunch against the softness of the bun and meat. The excellent potato salad is white cream style, no eggs, very creamy, dense, and filling. The homemade potato chips are big and hearty. The iced tea is classic, and in true Southern form, there's a proper giant dispenser of freshly-brewed sweet tea, sweetened with just the right amount of sugar with that unmistakable fresh-brewed flavor and a slight hint of smokiness. The dining area is very spacious, and somebody was thinking ahead as a roll of paper towels grace each table, because naturally, fingers, mouths and clothing gets messy and sticky when eating bbq, and a napkin is just too dainty to do the job. Service is very friendly, personal, and welcoming. It makes you want to come back. This place has a lot of people in at lunch time, and I hope it continues in its great success! read more

My husband and I came here for a quick dinner on a Saturday and we're super impressed! We have been looking for a good BBQ spot in East Cobb and Righteous Que got the best reviews of the places around and now I can see why. We tried the smoked wings, brisket, and pulled pork along with a few sides. Everything was hot, delicious, and extremely reasonably priced. I was in town on business and needed some good BBQ. I know the south is known for BBQ and I was a bit surprised that most of the places I saw when I did a search for 'Best BBQ Atlanta' weren't the typical tiny, roadside shacks I was used to seeing during my travels down south. In college, I would eat at Sonny's BBQ, which is a chain BBQ shop and although warm and fuzzy from a nostalgic standpoint (and pretty good for chain BBQ) I wanted the real deal. Righteous 'Que popped us as the #1 in my search engine as well as the #1 highest rated BBQ joint and I just happened to be passing through Marietta. The first thing I noticed is that this place was small ... and it was in a strip mall adjacent to a Publix grocery store. (which actually has some of the best fried chicken I've had) After talking myself out of aborting the BBQ mission and heading into such an unlikely place as a grocery store for crispy, salty, moist fried chicken ... we entered Righteous. As a vigilant opponent of all things hipster (although I do own a turntable and vinyl records ...) I was skeptical because this place did raise my hipster radar. Luckily, they back it up with fantastic fresh tasting homemade BBQ. One of the telling things was that as we entered, we were given a sample of the BBQ brisket. They were giving it away because it was slightly cold (room temperature ... not serving temperature, is how it was described.) A very good sign that quality control was of importance to them because many placed would just place it in a microwave or under a broiler for a bit. Not here. I had the Soul sandwich, which was their special menu item. A half a pound of smoked chicken, pulled pork and beef brisket between two perfectly buttered pieces of thick Texas Toast. Somehow I managed to also shove some of their homemade mac and cheese into my mouth as well. The BBQ here is legit. It might not be the biggest portions around ... but it's fresh, it's smoky and it's so good! The brisket was moist and had a good amount of salty 'bark' on it. The pulled pork was nice and not soggy or limp. And the chicken was sliced pieces that were very succulent and only a bit fatty. The sauces were adequate ... not the best I've had. Not the worst. But they had a white BBQ sauce, which I had not seen before and it was super! It was almost like that white sauce they squirt over everything at a Halal street stand in NYC. Very tasty and helped jazz up the weak red sauces. The only thing I could say negative about Righteous (besides the tight seating during lunch) would be that the mac and cheese looked fantastic but it was a tad oily/greasy and a tad bland. I could have saved those calories had I know ahead of time. But the BBQ more than made up for it ... rare that I will give an almost 5 star rating for BBQ served from a strip mall store, but here it is. The price was also quite good. The platters were around $16 but gave you a LOT of food. The Soul sandwich was under $10 and they had a $7 lunch special which featured a drink, chips and a pulled pork sandwich. Personally, I would go with the Soul sandwich again. The Texas toast and the combination of meats was a winner. Great place and I hope they expand, grow and eventually make it to a nice little spot on the side of the road away from the super market. read more

Sam's used to be very good. In the past. We ate there weekly from 2015-2018 or so and it was always good. About 2018-2019, some time in there, they forgot how to cook good meat. Now it stinks. Fox, Williamsons, Righteous are all much better. They understand meat. read more

This is the only place that I will eat BBQ. To start the restaurant is well kept. It's clean and always stocked with utensils and beverage. The staff is PHENOMENAL they are so welcoming, patient and helpful when trying to decide what to eat. They have OUTSTANDING customer service which is what I look for everywhere I go. As for the food, the flavor of their meat and sauces is just incredible you can tell they put their heart into serving a well cooked meal. A must try is the Mac and cheese, Brunswick stew, brisket, and baked bean (all their sides are yummy). I was also offered to try a red neck lasagna which is the Mac and cheese base and the Brunswick stew in top. Righteous 'Que is a small bar-b-que restaurant located in Marietta. It's a bit of a hike for me, but well worth the drive. It's family run and has a cozy feel!! The staff was warm and friendly. Each person that I spoke to was more than willing to answer my questions. I had the Brunswick Stew, which hit the spot on a cold day!! It was rich in flavor with a mix of meet and veggies. The Mac-n Cheese is to die for!!! I am a bit of a Mac-n-Cheese snob and this met my expectations. Super cheesy and creamy!!! They also frequently partner with various charities and donate a percentage of proceeds to those charities. This is a concept that I love. I just finished my meal and am now laying down watching TV as I write this review. I can't move and that's a huge compliment. I almost drove right past it since the signage is so nondescript. It's located in the Publix shopping center on E. Piedmont so keep your eyes peeled. Apparently there's no such thing as off-peak hours at this place. I was 3rd in line at 3pm. I felt confident that I made a good choice. I was greeted by Eric who took excellent care of me. He answered my questions and packed my to-go order well for travel. I ordered the sampler platter - chicken, ribs, pulled pork, and brisket with double collard greens. It's definitely enough to share, even if hungry. I fully intended to take pics of the meal, but i crushed it. Ooops. When I tell you that every last item was fall off the bone tender and flavorful, I'm not exaggerating. Well I thoroughly enjoyed this place! And I have to say thank you, Yelp, for helping this road tripping mom from WI find it! This little gem sits in a strip mall outside of Marietta and is quite easy to find off of the interstate. It's counter-service, and the staff are friendly and welcoming and helpful. I ordered the brisket plate and had to choose between "fatty" and "lean" - they kindly explained to this northerner that the fatty had no chunks of fat but was more moist so that settled that. I had macaroni and cheese, which had a crisp crust and a perfect texture and cheesiness level, as well as coleslaw for the side. The coleslaw could have used just a bit more pop of something but it was decent. I assume I don't have to tout this place's virtues to locals and southerners, but to all of you midwesterners searching for a good bbq joint as you make your way south, consider this place. First time at Righteous Que tonight. I had the pork plate and my 2 sides were Brunswick Stew and a Sweet Potato. The pulled pork was excellent, I really liked the house (sweet) sauce. The stew was pretty good and the sweet potato was perfect. I had a very tasty banana pudding for dessert and my buddy got one of the homemade oatmeal pies which was delicious.
