The original unit was completely empty, no lock, clearly vacated. I ended up being about 24 hours late in canceling before the next billing cycle, and they charged me for a full additional month anyway. What made it worse was that I received both a bill for the next month and a vacancy notice at the same time, acknowledging the unit was already empty. When I asked about a refund or even a prorated credit, I was told there was nothing they could do. Their reasoning was that they only issue credits to accounts, and since the new unit is under my girlfriend's name, they wouldn't transfer anything over. To add to the frustration, they also shut off my access code despite charging me for that extra month. It felt like policy mattered more than common sense or customer loyalty. After nearly a decade of doing business here, I expected a more reasonable and customer focused response. Also the security gate has been broken for almost a year now and they continue to lie about when its getting fixed.

After checking out other reputable storage locations around the same area of Merrimack, we settled on Synergy because of the high quality of their location, the straightforward and easy set up, and the helpful guidance from the staff. I've interacted with both the owners over multiple visits (apologies I've forgotten your names) but they were both helpful and take their business seriously. I've spoken to at least one employee of theirs as well, and she was just as helpful and very polite/friendly. The climate control meant we didn't have to worry about some valuables or delicate items in storage. The high level of security meant we never worried about anyone trying to tamper or break into our unit. And the professionalism of the business meant we never stressed getting overcharged. They called the morning of the move to tell us that they were on their way. Nick, Alex and Ryan were extremely professional. They wrapped some of wooden furniture. They finished loading the truck. Once at our new home and the unloading began. They had everything in and put things where they belonged. Asked questions about where to put things. The entire move took less time than the estimate. We were told the mattress would be place to make a wall in the container. Instead it was placed…read morethe long way of the pod away from the wall. Before they left, one of the mover told my husband it should have been put in first and was not. The photos are from the morning after they left. You can visibly see the fold in the Tempur-pedic mattress. When we tried to hold it up to see if we could stabilize it, one of our three pictures we had "professionally" packed was being leaned on by the mattress. The box was bending. The professional packing consisted of two cardboard panels taped together. The frame of our Thomas Kinkad painting was hanging out with the tape on it. We were charged for 5 hours of labor plus for the "professional" packing of the painting. My husband tip the movers in cash. They were nice guys. We let them take a bunch of things we had out our goodwill pile which took away from the time we were charged for labor. I contacted the office the following day via email with the photos attached. The office manager and I corresponded via email. On 9/24, they agreed mattress should have been placed against the wall to ensure the flatness of it and strapped down. She did note we had not rented or purchase any straps from them. The crew did stated to her they thought the picture was more secure than the pictures show and assumed it moved during transport of the MI-BOX. (THE POD HAD NOT BEEN MOVED BETWEEN THEM LEAVING AND WHEN THE PICTURES ATTACHED WERE TAKEN). Included in the office manager's response was: " Typically, College Bound Movers is not liable for items once the doors to the MI-BOX close. Any claims would go against go against your content's insurance. You did provide your homeowners for coverage. As a customer service courtesy, i am going to offer you a customer service refund of one hour labor time and the mattress cover." I responded back to the office manager the same day. The "assumption" on their part that the paintings shifted during transport was not true. The POD had not left the driveway between the time they left & the pictures were taken. It's a week later and there has been no further correspondence from her.

They did get a few more carts out now…read more This is a good storage facility except for the fact that there is only one cart to move stuff from your vehicle to your unit! If someone is there before you, and you want other carts, you have to go during office hours and leave your license to get a cart. (This is due to the fact of some moronic customers who either stole the carts for themselves or left them out in the snow to be ruined.) Although it is understandable that the company is reluctant to buy new carts because of that, it's extremely burdensome, difficult, and annoying to have to either drag or carry your things one by one, or to have to wait. Waiting is futile when confronted by 2 U hauls trying to unload as you drive in. And if you are the unfortunate second person with the truck to unload, you're out of luck! I asked when the company might get more carts, (as I was told may happen by one worker on signing in to the place), I was informed that the Public Storage company has decided not to buy any more for the after hours lobby.
