We were told the mattress would be place to make a wall in the container. Instead it was placed the long way of the pod away from the wall. Before they left, one of the mover told my husband it should have been put in first and was not. The photos are from the morning after they left. You can visibly see the fold in the Tempur-pedic mattress. When we tried to hold it up to see if we could stabilize it, one of our three pictures we had "professionally" packed was being leaned on by the mattress. The box was bending. The professional packing consisted of two cardboard panels taped together. The frame of our Thomas Kinkad painting was hanging out with the tape on it. We were charged for 5 hours of labor plus for the "professional" packing of the painting. My husband tip the movers in cash. They were nice guys. We let them take a bunch of things we had out our goodwill pile which took away from the time we were charged for labor. I contacted the office the following day via email with the photos attached. The office manager and I corresponded via email. On 9/24, they agreed mattress should have been placed against the wall to ensure the flatness of it and strapped down. She did note we had not rented or purchase any straps from them. The crew did stated to her they thought the picture was more secure than the pictures show and assumed it moved during transport of the MI-BOX. (THE POD HAD NOT BEEN MOVED BETWEEN THEM LEAVING AND WHEN THE PICTURES ATTACHED WERE TAKEN). Included in the office manager's response was: " Typically, College Bound Movers is not liable for items once the doors to the MI-BOX close. Any claims would go against go against your content's insurance. You did provide your homeowners for coverage. As a customer service courtesy, i am going to offer you a customer service refund of one hour labor time and the mattress cover." I responded back to the office manager the same day. The "assumption" on their part that the paintings shifted during transport was not true. The POD had not left the driveway between the time they left & the pictures were taken. It's a week later and there has been no further correspondence from her. read more

We have never used a moving company. We decided to use a moving company. After getting estimates from many companies we decided on College Bound Movers. The estimate was sent to us within the hour. They said they would call with the pickup time. The called with the arrival time. They called the morning of the move to tell us that they were on their way. Nick, Alex and Ryan were extremely professional. They wrapped some of wooden furniture. They finished loading the truck. Once at our new home and the unloading began. They had everything in and put things where they belonged. Asked questions about where to put things. The entire move took less time than the estimate. UPDATE: We have sought reimbursement for our TV. They have offered $500, and we stated we accept this offer. After 3 weeks and 3 follow up emails to inquire as to when we would receive this, I heard from a different person. I have been asked to sign a release in order to receive reimbursement for the loss of our TV. This release stipulates I agree to no further action regarding any loss of property and that I agree to not review or discuss the company in a negative manner on social media. I clarified this with the contact and was told I need to remove or update/edit any reviews in order to receive payment. This sounds as if I should update with false information, as I need to update prior to actually receiving the reimbursement. I am still trying to understand the logic of this requirement and have not signed this release. read more

Terrible experience for my parents with gouges in many pieces of furniture. I know in moving sometimes you might get a scratch or two but this is pure carelessness. Response from company: well, we offered you insurance. Also, some memorable artwork is missing. Answer: we don't have any boxes with artwork. My mom had to use black ink to cover the gouges to make it sonewhat presentable until she can get it refinished. Just absolutely awful. Long story shortened, I would NOT NOT NOT recommend using College Bound Movers!!! I have moved many many times in my life, and this was the worst experience I have EVER had!! Please save yourself the unnecessary stress and go with a different moving company as College Bound Movers made our move memorable in the worst possible ways. They showed up an hour late, and 1 of 3 crew members was in the bathroom the ENTIRE time "sick" leaving the loading to 2 people. They didn't wrap any of the furniture and did a piss poor job loading the truck, so it didn't fit all of our belongings (all of which fit in the same sized truck when we moved in.) This forced us to leave stuff behind that I had to go back to get. The 2 movers were soo exhausted they had to call another crew to help unload because it took 4 hours to load. One of my neighbors even came to tell me that the crew was standing around doing nothing at the truck a lot of the time. The new crew worked fast to unload because it was already 7pm and they were very unprofessional and sloppy. They damaged a few pieces of furniture, ripped a hole in our mattress, damaged baseboard, scuffed the walls, and even dinged the ceiling down to the metal. When the job was complete, they increased the price due to that 2nd crew having to come help pick up the slack. I wasn't surprised because one of the movers from the loading crew told me to expect a higher bill than quoted because the company always does that. They wanted me to sign the final document in several places which I refused to do, and they tried to bully me into signing saying they weren't allowed to leave until I signed everything. I told them I wanted to talk to someone in management, and they wouldn't let me. Since it was 9pm, no one picked up when I called corporate, and the crew eventually left. I literally just moved across the parking lot and they broke a lot of my furniture because they didn't use moving blankets, despite the fact that I offered them a large pile of them to use. They ripped a hole in my mattress and dragged it across the ground so that it's filthy. They punctured a hole in my daughters PURPLE mattress cover. Guy came in and did a walk through and estimated that we would need 2 trucks for our 1500sq foot house no problem and that we needed a $500 deposit so we gave him just that and that within 24hrs they would have a estimate. My husband had to call cause we didn't hear back within the 24hrs. I just want to say the movers themself were good the only issue was they lost all my screws to everything they took apart! I know we probably weren't easy cause we didn't have a set address on where we were moving yet so we told them we were still looking for a place (we had just sold our home and my husband was being very picky on where to live as this was his childhood home and was sad he had to sell it due to health reason) Paul the owner said he needed a address and we explained we where looking at places now and will hopefully give him one before the actual move date. Move date was set but they cancelled 2 days prior due to a snow storm for 4 days after Paul sets that we are just making the address to a storage unit cause they needed a set address I said ok no problem. We ended up getting a house and we told Paul and even stated we would pay more to have it moved there but was refused and was told we need to set another day to move it from storage to our new house 35 miles away!! My husband felt obliged to have them move it all again 2 days later (we didn't sign no contract for the second day) and then the day comes around and We decided not to use them as they kept taken money out of husband account and we are not sure what it was for? Then Paul called my husband multiple times saying he owed them $776.84 for canceling. my husband didn't want to deal with it and paid that but the other amounts I want to know why we were charged? He already paid $1,900 for one day of moving this is crazy! My husband paid a total of $3,426.84 for 1 day and a cancellation tell me that doesn't sound right? I just hire 2 guys today very nice and I only paid $900 just to get my stuff out of storage. I really wish I went with them 1st. Worst Experience With Movers EVER! There are too many things to post about so I'll only list the few big ones! Let's start with, we are in the middle of a Global Pandemic and they were not wearing masks! This move was done into a newly built home, there is now damage to carpet, walls and doors! Handmade furniture with broken wood/glass door - looks as though they ripped the door off trying to lift. And then proceeded to stuff the broken wood pieces into a nearby box. I have never written a bad review on Yelp. I only write good reviews. But this company deserves to be held accountable for bad service. I hired College Bound Movers for two full days - one to pack and one to move. The first day, 2 guys showed up and packed (one diligently, one guy kind of just wandered around) for only 3 hours - even though I had booked them for the whole day. They left before Noon and said they were all set for the next day. I figured they knew what they were doing and had a plan - and also, would only charge me for half a day (which they did not) since I would continue to pack after they left. The next day, they showed up around 8:45am with 3 guys so I was thrilled, until about 2pm when they said they would not be able to fit everything in their moving van. AT NO POINT did they share this before. That is what I thought Day 1 was for - to pack and sort of plan for Day 2. When I asked one of the workers if they had at least cleared out my front closet to which he replied 'Yes', below is the pic of how he left it. AND they left me with over 50 boxes and multiple pieces of furniture in a place I had to be out of that day with no solution or plan b! They just left. So I spent that evening calling around and had to hire another moving company to help finish the job they did not finish. They ultimately charged me 2 full days of work when on day 1 they only worked 3 hours and day 2 they did not even finish the job! I would NEVER RECOMMEND this company to anyone. I have never been left high and dry in a move until this company came along. Super disappointed in their work ethic and effort, very upset about spending nearly 4k on a 13 mile move that was NOT EVEN COMPLETED (and having to spend another 1k on another company to finish the job), and also disappointed at the customer service who for over 3 weeks has yet to reimburse me or concede they had failed a customer. read more

Move lasted 9 hours, they left a 2 car garage full of small furniture and possessions that we had to rent a box truck to move ourselves at our own expense since the their moving truck was full and they had the nerve to charge us for 9 hours. Brought this to the attention of the rep. and management, they asked for photos of the garage full of items, which was texted to the rep. They had too look into it. Sales Manager left a voicemail for spouse, call was returned, voicemail was left, never heard anything back. They were not transparent to us completely and gave us a feeling the whole house will come in 1 truck. They did say I some of the stuff will not fit but then later post contract signing they told us that about 30% of items wont fit and if i need - i will need another extra truck. It was unfortunate for us since we lost 700$ in deposit money to them which they did not return after so many appeals. I would stay away from them since they are not fair and they are not sincere in their efforts to retain or gain new customers. If I was reviewing them alone, I'd give them 5 stars. However, if I had to solely review the company and their unethical sales tactics, I'd give zero stars if that was an option. So, because of your amazing staff alone, I'm giving you three stars. If you're planning to hire this company know that they will change your estimate two days before they are to move you and not in your favor. We changed nothing. Added nothing. In fact, my husband chose to move things himself and we were still up charged $600 and nobody can explain why. It's a bait and switch since we couldn't possibly find another mover in two days during the busiest closing weekend. Due to the efficiency and hard work of their dedicated staff, we ended up paying a bit less but I still feel like we were taken advantage of. I contacted CBM and requested 2 movers for three hours of moving time, only to receive 2 hrs and 15 min and was told the the remaining time would be used for the movers travel time. When I called to reserve the date, I was told I would have 3 complete hours with the movers, never did anyone state otherwise. The guys were nice enough, but honestly they didn't know how to load a U-Haul truck, properly. My brother and SIL had to unload everything and repack the truck, the guys didn't try to maximize the space within the truck and and they didn't use the mattress and box spring to block the items that were stacked on top of the trucks loft area. I even questioned them on this and they told me it was fine.. They'll try and nickel and dime you for everything, example, in order to get a reserved timeframe on my date of moving, they required an additional $75 fee, on top of the $500+ that I was charged, otherwise the movers would just show up on your moving date whenever they wanted.. as well with their insurance options, and I was charged for bed bags, even though I purchased my own, and they used my bags not theirs to but the mattresses in. Save your self some money and stress and hire movers through U-Haul, they're cheaper and they know how to load a truck! read more

I called the manager while the events occurred. They removed a worker, however his brother stayed on and I paid the price with the brothers retaliation. I didn't pay the price, almost every piece of furniture I own was damaged. If I could give them a -10 I would. Didn't cover or wrap anything. Stacked all wood on top of each other without blankets. When I looked into the truck and told them to wrap and protect mu furniture, they did it like snails with attitudes. Guys took phone breaks and worked without a sense of urgency. The unpack occurred the next day and was even worse. We had a bed that lifts and they didn't set it up. They didn't set up the bed frames in any bedrooms. Would not put furniture back together after they took the legs off. Didn't unwrap the furniture, just left the wrap there. Furniture was dropped any and every where despite us trying to tell them. Worst movers ever. I called management 3 times without call backs. The below comment from the manager was the only response. It's over a year and I didn't get any compensation, my loss. Out of 4 movers, three were high school students, no sense of care. Just trying to warn people, use these people at your own risk. You have been warned. I cannot believe my issue with CBM has still not been resolved. 9/20/22 I have tried everything for resolution. Basically an hour into the moving job I found the crew in the back on the truck drinking alcohol nips that they took from my house, One item of furniture after another was damaged, some deliberately, some beyond repair, and I am missing items, Sadly, they would have gotten away with most of that if it wasnt for their rude arrogant attitude. I was only looking to be refunded what I was charged, I was not looking to nit pick over minor scratches or dents or benefit from the repeated mishaps in any way. When assisted by a consumer advocate appointed by the AG, they basically told me to get an attorney and take them to court. They had accused me of threatening litigation back in December, when actually, the email I sent said that I had discussed the situation with several attorneys and they suggested litigation but I made it perfectly clear that I wanted to avoid that. Customers...BEWARE... apparently CBM expects you to pay them extra money to cover the damages that they do to your property because of their negligence. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING. I was not allowed to see in back of the truck to make sure all of my property was out. also the crew disappeared for a stretch of time on the way to my storage, and DO NOT LET THEM OUT OF YOUR SIGHT WHILE THERE. I was pressured into signing off on the move BEFORE they WERE EVEN DONE!!!! and right before they gouged my dining table and ran out the door, jumped in the truck and sped away down the street. I should have called the police to file a report, not something I would typically do, and sadly thought I could just handle it with the company and avoid any further involvement. I wasn't expecting College Bound Movers to act with unprofessional arrogant disregard for their customers. Im sure it was just the particular crew that did my move, but unfortunately, they didnt want to do the right thing and avoid the negativity to the company as a whole. This was the best and worst moving experience I have ever had. The best was that they showed up on time and were ready to work. The loading was done quickly (maybe a little to quickly, I will elaborate under the "worst") and the crew was pleasant and seemed professional. They also arrived for unloading on time. The worst is that almost all of our furniture show some effects of the move, ranging from small nicks and dings to total destruction. My leather recliner has tears in the leather that was not there prior to the move. Some of our outdoor patio furniture shows the same damage. A part was lost from our day bed rendering it useless. Fortunately I was able to source a replacement for it. A chair that started the trip with four legs arrived with three. And when they loaded excess into our storage they gave zero thought as to how to stack it. It literally looks like they just threw it in. I have a lot of trouble recommending this moving service. Horrible experience. Once I signed the contract with Mike Muchmore, he would not answer any telephone calls about schedule etc. Overcharged us by about $1000 dollars from the estimate. Ran out of truck space and charged us for 5 men for several hours for sitting around while they arranged another truck. Broke several things and said they will take pictures and get back to us, but they never did. We paid $145 for insurance with zero deductible for breakage etc - never even contacted us once the money was paid. When we complained about the delay in the truck and things not being packed properly, there was a concealed threat of - do you want us to continue with packing and moving or should we leave you in the lurch. Firstly I have NEVER reviewed any business in my life. Typically I would rather just not use or recommend a bad service company. I've chosen to write a review based on, without a doubt, the worst customer service and business practices I could have ever imagined. I prefer to use local business as their is a sense of local support and of course local recourse in the event something went wrong. Without spending hours in describing my horrible experience with CBM. I will just summarize some key point that make up a very bad, unorganized and highly unprofessional company . My entail call to, I guess to be a call center was fairly, what I thought, was straight forward. Please if anyone calls this company ask questions and make sure you get a straight answer! On moving day 3 very young boys arrived. The appearance was not the best as they all looked like they just rolled out of bed and had no real sense of hygiene. They came in my home, which I consider a modest to average home, about 1500 square feet, All my worldly possessions are packed and items broken down. They, the movers, smelled like marijuana and stale cigarettes! It took these 3 guys 5 hours to just load the truck, which was not packed very well, the truck. They had little to not blankets to protect my more delicate items. They trashed my floors and walls and took at least 5 cigarette breaks. They ask if I was buying lunch and they just seemed to be not in the mood to do much. I actually had to help one of the movers move a few things. The unload or delivery of my things took equally the same amount of time. Mind you I do not have a ton of things and was highly organized as I was trying to keep costs down, At the end of the day it was time to pay the boys over $3000! Apparently over time rates kick in after a certain point, fuel charges, truck charges, mile fees, stairs or steps fees, tape, shrink wrap and drive time are all added in as "extra" fees. They advertise $42 per hour but do not point out the extras till after the move or bill time. Damages to just about everything from both homes to all my items. I talked to a few people over the phone and all I got was the run around. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the attorney generals office for unfair business practices. Do not be like me and hire these guys. You will regret it and will be wasting your time writing another BAD review about this "company" read more

Totally efficient, friendly, kind and cautious with every piece they handled. These guys work out!! They handled every piece of furniture with kid gloves. I have been left in total amazement with what these 3 men did. Oh if only my other moves were even a fraction of this company!! I am using them for my next move without a doubt. Everyone hates moving. It's a royal pain, and no matter how many times you do it, it doesn't get any easier or less stressful. CBM eases that stress and pain significantly. I've unfortunately had to move several times over the past 10 years -- between grad school and job changes, I've lived in and/or near three different East Coast cities. As a result, I've had good, bad, and ugly moving experiences. All of my best moving experiences were when I was bouncing around New England, and they have been with CBM. I used CBM for four separate moves in as many years (between 2001 and 2004), including a move to/from a fourth-story apartment right on Comm. Ave. in Boston. If CBM served the DC/Baltimore area where I now live, I'd use them again without even shopping around. I'd recommend CBM to anyone moving within and between Massachusetts and New Hampshire. CBM's estimates are accurate and straightforward to understand -- just the truck and labor. In one case they over-estimated the driving time they'd need with the truck, and I ended up paying less than the original estimate. The staff is polite, professional, careful, and customer-focused across the board, from the office staff to the movers themselves. These guys give better service than the big-name cross-country movers and at a much lower price. I've never had anything damaged with CBM, whereas I have with other movers. Take some stress out of planning your move -- you can stop shopping around. Just call CBM and book them now. read more

I hired College Bound Movers last summer and very similar to another reviewer here, it has taken me this long to calm down and write this review. Using this company was one of the most awful experiences I have ever had. For context: We moved an entire family of 4 from RI to NH in March. It took a crew of 5 men 2 hours to load our entire house, and another 2 hours to unload in the new home. We paid around $3K for that cross-state job. Nothing was broken, lost or damaged. Everything was exactly as quoted, and even came out a little less for the hours, because they were so fast. We THEN hired College Bound Movers to move us 4 months later to our new home. Weare NH to Hopkinton NH. We had already moved most of the boxes and smaller bins and furniture ourselves ahead of time and did not have to be moved by College Bound Movers. Here is how it went: Showed up over an hour after they were supposed to. At least 2 of the 4 workers were very obviously high on pot. Their truck did not have ramp, or if it did, they did not use it and used the hydraulic lift-gate instead, up and down, up and down, up and down, at the pace of snail, while the crew wandered around aimlessly half the time with nothing in their hands watching each other work. I watched one of them try to pick up TWO twin mattresses by himself and walk with them on his HEAD. Of course he dropped them and the corners got jammed into the lawn, leaving dirt and grass stains on them. One employee was in socks and sandals. Only 1 of the 4 crewmembers had gloves. Instead of working in teams of 2 for heavier items (headboards, mattresses, etc.) they tried to do it themselves (because they were wandering around aimlessly instead of working efficiently in teams, which is the WHOLE REASON I wanted a crew of 4!), banging and dropping everything as they went, putting holes in the walls, dents and scratches in all our solid wood furniture, etc. My father, in his 50's, was so distraught watching this debacle he started grabbing loads himself and bringing them to the lift-gate of the moving truck for them to try to hurry up the process. It took over 3 hours to load the house! I had already disassembled all our beds for them, my father moved half the boxes to the truck for them, had half the amount of boxes as the move in March (RI to NH), and yet it took them over 3 hours to load it all. They then took over an hour to show up at my new home. The worker with the socks and sandals was aggravated and grabbed a 6' long 7-drawer solid wood bureau by HIMSELF and practically threw it down in our bedroom, completely gouging out and scratching up our new home's 200-year old wide planked pine wood floor in several places. And left it there where it didn't belong all askew in the room. Once again, they wandered about aimlessly with nothing in their hands, more than they worked in teams, whacked chandeliers coming in the doors, were PUSHING hand-trucks with heavy items over door-thresholds instead of backing in and pulling them through (they didn't even know how to use a hand-truck!), causing items to topple over onto the ground, swore profanities, left their empty Gatorade and Snapple beverage bottles (that were wet with condensation) on the STAIRS other crew members were coming up and down with furniture on, and on my wooden dining room table (!!!). The salesman I originally placed the work order with told me no more than 5 hours for the job which was even less/easier than when I booked it (because we moved a lot of stuff ahead of time ourselves and my dad did half their work for them), and it took them over 8 hours. EIGHT HOURS door-to-door. They don't have trucks that can seat a crew of 4 or 5 so I had to pay mileage for the additional 2 workers to bring their personal car (hence the puff-n-stuff), said they got lost, said they got stuck in traffic, were completely incompetent, untrained, unapologetic, unprofessional, didn't use proper equipment (Gloves, lifting belts, proper shoes/boots, ramps) and worst of all: Grossly overpriced. I paid MORE to College Bound Movers for 1 less crewman, half the amount of items, and a fraction of the travel time, than I did for an entire home (double the items), and 5 crewman, to be moved from RHODE ISLAND to NEW HAMPSHIRE. Absolutely unconscionable what we had to put up with. It then took me months of teeth-pulling and phone calls and messages and emails and getting my husband involved to get them to follow up with us about the damaged furniture and the damaged floors in our home and the absolute incompetence we had to deal with at an hourly rate. I feel what they refunded was not nearly enough for what we had to go through. That move should not have cost over $2,000. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE HEART-ACHE AND COST! I hired this moving company and it was not a good experience. The quote is USELESS and on the day of the move they say it's just an estimate but in fact they only moved a few items around my house and wanted to charge me 20% more than the quoted amount. I pushed back they agreed to only bill me the quoted amount only once I made it clear I was not paying more. ALSO If you use them don't do the SURVEY until after the paper work is done. They wanted me to fill out the survey of how great things were and then once they had it they tried to scam me. The survey is to cover their butt in the even someone takes them to court. They can wave it saying how happy the customer was. I would avoid this moving company if you can. read more

April was our 3rd move with College Bound Movers. We chose to do our own packing, have them load a trailer (provided by another company) with our things. Nothing was broken or damaged in the loading. They loaded out of a 3 story town home, with 47 boxes of books on the top floor. While this move was not a 5, I would have rated the previous one as a 5+, and the 1st one as average. We would have booked with them for the entire move, but did not realize until 8 weeks out that they could have done it and the quoted price for everything was far out of our budget. A word of caution - time estimate was dramatically under-estimated ( for this company as well as another one used at the other end) Plenty of contact by phone & email to confirm and prepare, with paperwork to read through that also provided clarity. Polite & professional handling by the office staff. A lot of care and attention is given by the guys onsite. Ask for a quote discussing the services you are in need of - they do A LOT. I was even contacted after the move due to co-workers on the team reporting slacking to the office manager of a worker and offered a refund because the services they provided me were not up to their standards. This raises the level of service provided by CBM in my opinion. I have and will continue to recommend CBM to anyone they can provide services to. We've moved 16+ times and they take just about the best care I've seen. They are young, fit, and treat your belongings like their own, perhaps better. read more

College bound movers did a move for a friend of mine that I set up and they were supposed to pack the furniture with protective paper and load the freight. Many pieces were gouged and paint was damaged and pieces were broken. They took zero responsibility for anything that they did. Read your contract before you allow them to do anything for you. They will not make things right. If problems occur, you will be left holding the bag because their company will not pay anything to fix any damage that was possibly caused by their packers and loaders. read more

The movers did a great job on a difficult job, however there was damage to our driveway. While the movers were great, Keith Bowman who handles damage claims is not. Three times we were told that our claim would be handled and someone would be out to handle it. It never happened and for this reason only I would not recommend using them. Kathy C. read more

I had heard good things about College Bound Movers so I didn't expect any problems. I had nothing but problems all day. I was quoted an 8 hour job with 3 guys for $1,700. At the end of a 12 1/2 hour day they tried to charge me $2,600. The crew I had was so slow. They spent more time talking and being on the phone than working. I had to keep on them and finally had to help move every box just so we could get done. They even had to call a 4th guy in when they realized how long it was taking. I only had 1 truck of items and was only moving 15 minutes away! They also scraped my wall and put a hole in my ceiling, which now has to be patched and painted. I had scratches on almost all of my furniture. My mattress was filthy from being dragged on the ground. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more
