    Carne asada burrito combo.
    Steve F.

Date of visit: March 8, 2026 Hard to believe that up til that date, I had never been to Rigoberto's, but here we are. One of my friends who used to live on MCAS Miramar had raved about this place, so I owed it to her to check it out. Since I hadn't had a carne asada burrito in a long time, I figured I'd treat myself to one ($14) and paid a few bucks extra to make it a combo with rice and beans, as well as a fountain drink. This burrito was pretty big for the price, and the carne asada tasted freshly cooked, especially with the guacamole and pico de gallo inside. (In fact, I could only finish half of it, with the other half being part of the next day's lunch.) The rice and beans were serviceable at best. At least there's free hot carrots here on the salsa bar (and the ones at Rigoberto's are sure spicy)! I will give Rigoberto's props for being open 24 hours - especially with MCAS Miramar being nearby - and for that expansive menu with plenty of specials. Although I'm a lot closer to several other Mexican restaurants in Mira Mesa, I'll keep this place in mind when I'm around the area.

After a late night flight in, we were starving and craving good Mexican food before heading home. This place is 24 hrs and serve pretty good Mexican food. Daughter and I had California burrito with sour cream. Husband had shrimp burrito and taco cabeza. His taco was really good. Moist and tasty. Decent size too! Our cali burritos were very good. Freshly cooked and the carne was juicy and not overcooked. The shrimp burrito was mediocre. It took a few bites for shrimp to even be reached. If you're looking for late night, home style cooked Mexican food and in the area. This is the place to go. Prices were also reasonable. Inflation has got to them too. $1.50 for sour cream? Hahaha but the entire price was still worth it.

IG: @allysxn.eats hole in the wall spot. got the carne asada fries and taquitos. seems to be very authentic but a little on the oily/heavy side. a lot of seating inside.

Inside is casual and plenty of seating, feels authentic. Service is pretty quick, especially considering we came in when a wave of people did. I got the chicken burrito with guacamole and it was very juicy and tasty. I wish it had more guac and other things as filling, didn't realize it'd just be chicken. But it was super big and filling. Decent meal!

Carne Asada Burrito & 3 Rolled Tacos

Haven't been back here for years. Ordered a carne asada burrito & 3 rolled tacos for take out. Their sauce bar has a good variety of sauces to choose from. Flavorful and actually has a kick compared to other places. I like that they have the pickled hot carrots and jalapeños out as well. The carne asada was seasoned & cooked well but my burrito was not wrapped tight and the tortilla started falling apart. I asked the guy at the counter if the rolled tacos come with guacamole, sour cream and cheese. He did tell me it came with guac & cheese only so I decided to add the sour cream. Disappointed.. where's the lettuce and pico? My bad for assuming it would at least include the lettuce. Prior to going here, I even looked up some reviews and photos. Oh well, now I know for next time to ask for it if I want it. Overall, food tasted pretty good.

Pollo Asada Fries $9.97 tax included

I always like to stop by Rigobertos when visiting SD because it reminds me of what got me through the college days: pollo asado fries. The price is now ($16.50) and I seem to get slightly smaller portions, but the taste is still fantastic. The fries are on point: crispy, fluffy on the inside, and skinny rather than large and starchy. The pollo portion is alright (could be more) and the cook can be more standard - some pollo were more charred than others. In the end, it's a great place to get my Mexican food appetite filled.

Cabeza burrito. HALF the size it used to be :(

Wow this place really went down hill. Cabeza burrito prices went up to $13 and the burrito is now HALF the size it used to be. So very disapppointing. Won't be coming back.

Amazing carne asada fries Sour cream is extra Cali burrito has enchiladas sauce which is cool but no sour cream or guacamole Lots of seating Polite cashier and very attentive Nice salsa bar and refill soda station Overall great experience and will be back!

Why cant places make Cali burritos right?

Look at this trash Cali burrito for $14. Why can't Mexican food spots make California burritos right? Cheese meat and fries, seriously? By far one of the worst Mexican taco shops I've ever been to.

We like how this taco shop is open 24/7 for late night cravings! The workers are nice & quick to get your order out. I got the Carne Asada Burrito which was filled with protein, guac & pico - exactly what burritos should be filled with. The carne asada is cooked nicely & the guac was fresh. My partner got the Fish Burrito which was juicy & crispy. Although the tortilla could have been warmed up a bit more. This a solid spot to satisfy your Mexican cravings.

Came here because of the Yelp reviews and a hankering for rolled tacos! They did not disappoint. The rolled tacos were amazing and everything good I remembered when I use to live in SD. The tacos were crispy and cooked to perfection. The guacamole and cheesy topping was rich, creamy and full of flavor. The service was super quick. The ambiance is no muss, no fuss. I would return in a heartbeat.

Our go-to local taco shop. Always consistent and delicious authentic food. Used to be the low cost take-out option, but not so much anymore.

There were a couple of groups dining in and someone picking up a to-go order, but there was still plenty of seating available. The employee working the counter was friendly. They also serve alcohol, and during my visit drinks were 20% off. Options included Pacifico, Modelo, Blue Moon, hard seltzers, and a selection of canned craft beers. I ordered: * Mahi Mahi Taco: the fish tasted fresh, and I liked the crispy onions on top. There was quite a bit of sauce, which made it pretty messy to eat. While the fish was good, it felt like a very heavy taco overall. * Surf & Turf Taco: this was loaded with steak and topped with two flavorful shrimp. The shrimp had an amazing flavor, and this taco was much more enjoyable and balanced. Overall, the service was great, the prices were very reasonable, and the protein quality was excellent. My only critique is that the tacos felt a little overdone with toppings and sauces when the quality of the protein could easily stand on its own. Still, it's a solid spot for an affordable late-night bite. One thing to note: there are no restrooms available inside the restaurant.

Sometimes, there are nights when only tacos can fix me. It's no secret that San Diego has tacos in…read morespades and being so close to the border, you'd think that a quest to find the perfect taco would be as simple as rolling down to the nearest taqueria. Except, it's not quite that simple. Many beloved staples have gone downhill, while some newer spots that might boast things like a Michelin mention or multiple locations ranging from TJ to Vegas contain more hype and gristle than tender meat and substance. Enter Chula Tacos. Chula is, and always was, the type of place that makes you forget that you're not actually in Tijuana. While part of me misses their OG Market Street location, seeing them with brick-and-mortars feels hard-earned and well-deserved. This location on Palm in IB is relatively easy to access from the freeway, but parking can be tricky. You can safely assume that it will be busy and you will either have to be very lucky or be willing to find a spot on the street. Out of all the times I've been here, it's always been crowded enough that I've never been able to find a table inside, but I enjoy sitting out on the patio next to the ahumederos. The first thing that hits you walking through the door is how amazing everything smells. The queue to the cashier takes you near a window showing the kitchen where you can see the Chula Tacos team making fresh tortillas, slicing meat from the trompos, grilling up jalapenos, nopales, onions, labio, and tripa. For me, it's not so much a challenge to decide what I want, it's more a challenge to keep myself from ordering everything. My usual is four tacos: two asada, two al pastor (but I've heard that I should also try their world famous keka). The tacos though? Perfection. Every time, the asada is the juiciest and most tender I've ever eaten, the al pastor is succulent and flavorful, and no taco in front of me is long for the world. At $3.50 each, every one of them is absolutely loaded. Three would honestly fill me up, but I always want four. After getting burned by spots that ask around 75% more and deliver anywhere between 25-50% less, Chula Tacos feels like an absolute godsend of a Tijuana-style taqueria and I can't see any other contenders being my go-to. So, when I say "Tacos will fix me," what I mean nowadays is "Chula Tacos will fix me."

Every item we ordered was packed with delicious flavors and made fresh. One thing that stood out was their attention to detail with to-go orders--they provided plenty of condiments, including a variety of salsas, cucumbers, radishes, and peppers, which really elevated the meal. The highlight of the menu is the Keka Taco. It is incredibly delicious, loaded with flavor, and so filling that it can easily satisfy even the biggest appetite. The only downside to this establishment is the limited parking, which can make picking up your order a bit challenging during busy times. However, the amazing food and generous portions more than make up for the parking inconvenience. If you're in the area, the Keka Taco is a must-try!
