Came here because it was the closest Mexican Spot with decent reviews by our work and I was bringing a friend from out of town. Well, kinda disappointed. I had the Mar y Tiera (land & sea) and it was mid. Tortilla was good, rice was cold w little flavor, shrimp was okay, meat needed some seasoning. Came for lunch on a weekday. Ordered a California burrito with carne asada as well as the rolled tacos (not pictured). California burrito was a bit of a disappointment. The tortilla is good and tastes handmade, but overall the whole ensemble was lacking. It was burning hot when I ate it. They put a lot of enchilada sauce which has been heated up on a stove on the inside which I found a little strange. The overwhelming amount of sauce drowned the fries which were soggy. Carne asada was alright. Wouldn't recommend this one. The rolled tacos were pretty good! I asked for them to be topped with guacamole and cheese, which was excellent. Salsa bar is good here as well! All the salsas are bold and flavorful. Service is quick and at the counter. The interior is spacious and comfortable. Overall, I gotta put the burrito at the front of the judgment since that was what I was here for, so I can't say I recommend this spot if you like California burritos. Date of visit: March 8, 2026 Hard to believe that up til that date, I had never been to Rigoberto's, but here we are. One of my friends who used to live on MCAS Miramar had raved about this place, so I owed it to her to check it out. Since I hadn't had a carne asada burrito in a long time, I figured I'd treat myself to one ($14) and paid a few bucks extra to make it a combo with rice and beans, as well as a fountain drink. This burrito was pretty big for the price, and the carne asada tasted freshly cooked, especially with the guacamole and pico de gallo inside. (In fact, I could only finish half of it, with the other half being part of the next day's lunch.) The rice and beans were serviceable at best. At least there's free hot carrots here on the salsa bar (and the ones at Rigoberto's are sure spicy)! I will give Rigoberto's props for being open 24 hours - especially with MCAS Miramar being nearby - and for that expansive menu with plenty of specials. Although I'm a lot closer to several other Mexican restaurants in Mira Mesa, I'll keep this place in mind when I'm around the area. read more

After a late night flight in, we were starving and craving good Mexican food before heading home. This place is 24 hrs and serve pretty good Mexican food. Daughter and I had California burrito with sour cream. Husband had shrimp burrito and taco cabeza. His taco was really good. Moist and tasty. Decent size too! Our cali burritos were very good. Freshly cooked and the carne was juicy and not overcooked. The shrimp burrito was mediocre. It took a few bites for shrimp to even be reached. I've been going to this place for years coz the food is very damn good . I can't complain about that but the only thing that just recently happened to me is that they secretly added their own tip without us knowing until I saw my account coz it doesn't show on the receipt that they added tip nor charge me for using my card. By far our favorite Mexican food place. We're regulars here, the portion is good, the chef is amazing/friendly/kind, the food is good, and the sauce is actually spicy. Our entire family just enjoys the food here. Staff is nice. One time we came and the chef was on his break... we did decide to walk around the area and explore until he was done to be respectful to his well deserved rest. I know someone else was taking care of the cooking during but he's just so consistently great. He waves at us everytime too. We just love him. Fries are always crispy and meat well seasoned. This place is fantastic, I come here at least once a week to get a burrito. The staff is super friendly and they get food out pretty fast for how many people work there. The food always comes out hot and they fill it to the brim with meat and do not cheap out at all. One of my favorite long-time taco shops, especially for the carne asada fries! I used to visit this place since when they were Roberto's taco shop, but they changed it a while back to Rigoberto's Taco Shop. I love the variety of salsa and hot sauces they offer along with limes, pickled carrots, jalapenos, and fresh sliced radishes. My go to here is the carne asada fries, love the crispy fries, abundance of carne asada meat, and the combination of cheeses which look like a mexican cheese blend with possibly queso blanco or queso fresco on top. Carne asada fries include guac and sour cream! Definitely try out all of the sauces. If I eat in store, I take the entire carne asada fries container to the hot sauce bar and put the hot sauce directly into my container instead of the small cups they give you. The burritos are fantastic too, but I love their carne asada fries. The regular carne asada fries are perfect for 2 people. They are amazing. The portions are huge and although I usually finish them in one sitting, I could definitely see someone spenidng 2 or three meals to finish it. The one gripe I have regarding the food is the salsa cups. To me, they are really small and I wish they were a tiny bit bigger. I enjoy their green salsa. Rigioberto's is still the best taco shop in SD. Some may like Roberto's, Alberto's, Rubio's, or other local favorites, but we think Rigioberto's is still better. We tried the carne asada fries on this visit. Never tried them before. They were great. Still not better than the best menu items of the carne asada burrito and rolled tacos with guacamole and cheese, but still very good. The nachos are also very good here. We still recommend staying away from the carnitas options. The fries and nachos are pretty big and a good value for the price. For those who don't eat a lot, you can probably share them. The burrito and rolled tacos (3 or 5) most people should be able to eat alone. For gif eaters get the burrito and 3 rolled tacos and you will be full--5 with a burrito will be too much for most people. The restaurant is in a small strip mall. There are several restaurants in it, but we have never had a problem parking. Some of the employees are still rude, but some are nice. It is hit and miss and just depends who is working. They may get crowded late night, but due to higher take out volume than dine in, we have never seen them busy. We usually eat in the car in the lot anyway or take home.
