the Hawaiian pizza and the hot oil honey pizza is to die for. my cat literally ate it all

    Classic Plain Cheese Pizza

This pizza tastes & feels like it was generated by a 3D printer, frozen, devoid of flavor.. unnatural. I went into this one blind. Heard thin crust, and flocked. Huge mistake. Look at this pathetic excuse of a cheese pizza. Words cannot convey how strange this pie made me feel.. There was sauce on this pizza, but not really? If you press down a bit you can see some tasteless oily tomato paste poke out, but it's not "sauce". The shiny, slick coat of oil on top was so dense that you could see it reflecting light. There was a heavier coat of mystery oil than there was "sauce". The cheese wasn't better. It was worse. It had a pungent creamy cheese smell to it. Not the kind of cheese meant for a pizza pie. The slight hint of flavor this pizza did have was off, and all around not enjoyable. This place prides itself on "thin" crust.. this is actual cardboard. It felt more like a cracker, as it broke & brittled away during any attempted bite. I ate them unfolded at first. The last straw was when I folded the slice and it just snapped in half. Frozen. This pizza joint is great if you want to feel like you're living in a nuclear fallout bunker. The pungent processed smell to it has me thinking that, in the event of apocalypse, only this pizza would survive.. as roaches would starve themselves, refusing to eat this fever dream of a pizza pie. This poor pie never had a chance.

Pizza with spicy sausage and cherry peppers

I kind of have an affinity for this type of pizza (I.e. Colony Grill/Stamford Style). It isn't the most satisfying pizza, as it is pretty thin, but I like the way the cheese is nearly blended into the crust, with just a complement of tomato sauce. I almost knocked off a whole pie (6 slices) by myself. But I stopped myself from housing that last slice. I know pizza is junk food, but this type of pizza feels especially like a guilty pleasure, as if it's somehow more unhealthy than a normal NY style or brick oven slice. That said, I did actually enjoy the pie. The sausage and cherry peppers had some good tang, without being too spicy where I couldn't enjoy it. The buffalo wings were meh. I would skip those; 6 half-a$$ed pieces of wings and drumsticks that were not really handpicked for quality. I don't think they were fried, but they were cooked through. The buffalo sauce almost had a sweetness to it, as opposed to spicy. The blue cheese was also kind of cheap, like Marie's dressing. The 4 slim pieces of celery were stringy and tough to chew. Overall, stick with the pizza and enjoy that guilty slice.

Great place to grab a different kind of pizza. Wait time is to be expected as they make everything fresh!

One of the best pizzas I've ever had in my life. Thin crust is amazing and they deliver, Colony doesn't.

Can we talk about what a life changing experience going to Crust Issues has been?…read more I mean, yes, y'all are right, your parking is utter shizz. But the food?! My God. We had the most amazing dishes. The garlic knots are somehow both crispy on the outside and soft and light on the inside with the most amazing garlic butter. The mozzarella sticks covered in the marinated peppers are amazing. I am going to dream about the salad INSIDE the pizza. The pastina was perfection. The wings were crispy and the sauce was heavenly. And the pizza was almost like a focaccia with all the flavor and creative toppings only evil geniuses can provide. The restaurant was clean and had great atmosphere; well decorated and cozy. The staff was friendly and fun. You are clearly an enclave of sarcastic wizards who use your powers for culinary evil of the best variety. We drove an hour to get there and I will be back. But I might park in a real parking lot and take an Uber.

The meatballs were cold in the middle. The pastina was scorching hot, like it had been microwaved too long. The garlic knots had no garlic on them. The biggest letdown was the Italian sandwich pizza. It looked amazing in the photos, but it was awful. The crust was so hard it was difficult to cut, and everything inside was cold, like it had been sitting around instead of being made fresh. The food looked much better than it tasted on instagram. We won't be back.

We first discovered Coals when they had locations in New York. After those closed, we happily started making the trip to Connecticut because nothing else compares. We've even celebrated special occasions here because the restaurant is spacious, welcoming, and has such a great atmosphere. The service is second to none. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming, and the waitstaff is always friendly, attentive, and excellent. Coals is always worth the trip, and we can't recommend it enough!

My mom had insisted on going here on Mother's Day. Fortunately, their Connecticut location was open and we went. Bianca, I believe as a manager and was super accommodating with my mom's 100 questions haha. We started with one of the salads and the brussels sprouts. Both were great, but the brussels sprouts stood out to me. As for the pizza, we got the Margherita, Rustic, & Bayside. All of them were great, but the Bayside had to be my favorite. The pistachio pesto and goat cheese went very well together. The Rustic was a close runner up- mushrooms and truffle oil are always a match made in heaven. The Margherita was a classic but with the style of super thin, almost cracker-thin pizza I preferred the other two more. All in all, my family and I would definitely make it out to Norwalk again just for this place (& we live in Long Island). Thanks Bianca for making my Mom's day!
