    Dining area

Most people don't go to a restaurant that specializes in sandwiches and milkshakes and order a salad. But that's just what I did. I have no regrets. The chef salad was phenomenal-fresh ingredients, generous amounts of everything...it hit the spot! The young man who took my order was friendly and patient with me as I struggled to place my order. I'm not sure what my problem was, but my brain was not firing properly and I had a hard time communicating what I wanted. He figured it out and got me just what I wanted. There is a drive thru, and the dining area is also open and spacious. Everything I saw was well maintained and clean. I'd imagine that this place gets pretty busy around lunch time with all the large industrial businesses out this way-and few restaurant options. The next time I go, I'm definitely trying a shake.

    Egg salad panni style

Decent spot for something simple, cause sometimes you want something simple and clean. A decent selection of cold sandwiches. The egg salad was freshly made, not too much mayo but the egg pieces were a bit small for my liking but not to the point I wouldn't order again. I was disappointed that "panni style" did not impart the crispy groves into the bread I am used to. Next time I'll have to try the shakes. Just note that everything is made to order so plan your time accordingly, especially in the drive thru line. They did recently open up to in store ordering but not to dining. Let's see how long that will last.

First time trying Riley's through Grubhub delivery tonight. We had the Turkey and avocado sandwich on sourdough and a grilled chicken salad. Great quality on the meat, and I'm picky! All fresh ingredients, chicken was well seasoned on the salad. Will definitely order again on one of our girls nights.

Turkey and Avocado Sandwich on gluten free bread. Fries with house made fry sauce. Strawberry banana shake

Super fast service. Employees all wearing masks. I love that they have gluten-free bread but the sandwich overall was bland. I'm pretty sure the "special dressing" was just mayo. The fries are the bomb. My favorite texture, just enough oil flavor, perfectly salted. I love their fry sauce too. Totally worth paying for a side of it. And the shake! I love when shakes have REAL banana and strawberry. Soooo yummy. Great smooth texture with the occasional chunk of fruit. Go get one!

Decent for going the first time and more on the pricey side. Fries were pretty good but sandwich and shake were mediocre at best. It's also a pretty quiet establishment if that's your thing.

The food is alright nothing too special and I wouldn't go just for the food but the ice cream hits the spot. I always ask for a side of peanut butter or caramel sauce. We decided to take our twin daughters to have an afternoon snack after arriving in SLC after a two week camper van (RV) adventure to Glacier, Boise, Shoshone, and Yellowstone national parks. On a hot summer day, ice cream was definitely on the "must have" snack list, and Leatherby's was our first (and only) choice. Please refer to my two other Leatherby's reviews and you can simply copy and paste my opinion of their ice cream creations. This particular location has the added Mexican food option on their menu (tamales and ice cream seem an odd combo to me, but, hey, it seems to work here). This location, also, has absolutely NO PARKING - except the few street spots that you may come upon if you're lucky. Sadly, minus one star for being a pain to park. The staff were super fantastic, attentive, friendly and generally excellent. Small (but cozy) shop. The location, however, seemingly dictates the severe space limitation. Almost empty when we were there, but that might be because we visited quite early (about 4p or so). The ice cream scoop sizes were ENORMOUS!!! I might avoid this location after dark, but otherwise if you're early you'll have the whole joint to yourself.

In this case, I think it is for the better, as you can have ice cream delivered straight to your door! A month or so back I placed an online order right around their same-day cut off time of 4pm. I was so impressed when a bagful of ice cream was dropped off at my door within less than an hour! We enjoyed the following: Rocky Road features a mild chocolate base and small bits of nuts, but I never found even ONE teeny marshmallow in the whole quart (I just looked up the description to make sure I wasn't mistaken and it definitely mentions those squishy white delights!). Fresh Peach Gelato boasts local peaches from Kuwahara. Tangy, but just-sweet enough. Not quite as creamy as others, but that is par for the course with most fruit based ice creams. Oreo has mostly fine Oreo pieces, but a lot. If you had asked me, I'd have guessed my preference would be larger chunks, but I'd be wrong. This is delightful! New York Wildberry Cheesecake gelato has a great, natural cheesecake flavor. The swirls of berry are rather sweet, but tempered by the tangy base. Chocolate Dipped Strawberry was a surprising household favorite with it's uber creamy pretty-pink base and stracciatella style dark chocolate. They offer a variety of flavors, with some seasonal. All gelatos were a bit harder than ice creams, which is no surprise given they have less cream/fat in them. I am sure if left at room temperature for five or ten minutes (as you are supposed to do for all frozen treats), they would be perfect consistency, but I never have the restraint to wait that long. We bought everything in pint ($5.50) or quart size ($7.50), but you know those long rectangular containers seen at gelateria's? YOU CAN BUY A WHOLE ONE FROM BON BON ($30)! Can you imagine how perfect that would be for a party? There is a $30 minimum, which is extraordinarily easy to meet, and a $5 delivery charge. Go support this wonderful local business crafting such delicious treats!

It's similar to ice cream but denser and richer because it's churned in a special machine that incorporates significantly less air. It also must contain egg yolks, which many ice creams skip entirely. The result is a smoother, more indulgent texture that's in a category of its own. Nielsen's leans into that heritage with a menu that covers concretes, mix-ins, floats, sundaes, multiple sizes, and a full food menu straight out of a 1950s cafeteria. Nostalgic, ambitious, and a lot to choose from. I visited the South Jordan location and have to be honest about the full experience. The tables were dirty, the staff (mostly teenagers) were focused on the counter and not on cleaning, and the wait was long enough that I nearly walked out. The double burger was unremarkable, the fries came out unsalted, but the corn dog was surprisingly good. None of that is why you're here, though. The cherry almond concrete is why you're here. It is outstanding! Generous almond pieces throughout, and the cherry flavor tasted genuinely real, not like something from a syrup bottle. I've had frozen custard all over, and this is legitimately my favorite. My advice: skip the food, go straight for the custard. Nielsen's earns every star on that alone.
