    Cesar salad

I can't believe I forgot to review this place! I visited some time ago around 2pm for a lunch. It was amazing. I was feeling extremely hungry and this place delivered. My friend had the Cesar salad and enjoyed it. I had the warm turkey and provolone sandwich and it was great, it felt like quality ingredients, it was packed with turkey. My broccoli cheese soup was also delicious. My favorite part had to be the raspberry peach (I think that was the combination) muffin. It was spectacular! My friend got the lemon bar and I had a taste, it was very lemon-y! The restaurant felt clean and there were plenty of places to sit. I would love to go back sometime. The pizzas sounded good. The parking lot sucks because there are so many businesses packed into that strip mall, but if you go at not a busy time it is for sure worth it!

I have lived in Utah for years but I can't recall ever going to the Village Baker until this visit. I am not entirely sure why but I really loved my experience! This Village Baker location is in a tricky spot. They are almost on the corner of Redwood and 9000 S so getting in and out of the parking lot can be chaotic. I was northbound on Redwood, passed 9000 south and then turned right into the side/back lot. Getting back out, I was sitting by the KFC for several minutes getting blocked in by cars until one finally decided to be nice enough to let me in. I went around lunch time so there was a bit of a line but it didn't take more than a minute, since there were so many people at registers. The guy was waving down the couple in front of me but they weren't ready yet so he looked at me and said I could come over. This was nice, as the couple was just standing there and not really letting me order in front of them haha. I decided on the turkey and provolone sandwich in a combo. I got the full size and then it came with chips or a cookie and a drink. He gave me a number for the table and I met up with my friends. I was so busy chatting it up with my friends that I honestly forgot about my food lol. It did take quite a while to get, but I wasn't worried about it. There was plenty of other orders they were working on. This isn't your average sandwich. It was huge and on a big loaf of bread. This sandwich was DELICIOUS! The bread tasted fresh, was fresh, and the perfect ratio to the rest of the sandwich. It was big enough to hold the rest of the ingredients within the sandwich, without overpowering anything else. The sandwich still had explosive flavors throughout. I believe the sandwich came with some kind of mustard--it tasted amazing. The lettuce brought a cool crunch to the sandwich. They didn't skimp out on the turkey and it tasted fresh. I forgot to grab my chips so I had to run back up to the front to snag those. They had your average lays chips to choose from--BBQ, Sunchips, Salt & Vinegar, etc.. I chose the salt and vinegar chips and also filled up my drink. They had a fountain with Coke products and I opted for a Dr. Pepper. They also had the good pebble ice! I appreciate that they have to-go boxes right next to the drinking fountains so you don't have to worry about waiting up at the front for a box. There is plenty of seating and they have tables & chairs with umbrellas for the warmer months. This is an awesome lunch spot and I absolutely loved my sandwich. I will definitely keep Village Baker in mind for another visit!

This place's bread is delicious. I got a slice of pizza, and I liked their bread. Their pastries are also good.

Wha I do know for sure, is this sandwich is top tier. It melts in your mouth. The bread. The meat. The mustard. Feldman's Deli has a good pastrami sandwich (in SLC if you haven't been you must) but this one wins in my opinion. It's just so good. The pizza is good, I don't know that I would rank it super high on my list of good pizza in Utah, but it's definitely decent. We got the garlic knots the first time we went and they were raw in the center. I'm sure they're good when fully cooked though. Inside is decorated all NY style with photos. I've been a couple of times and have sat inside and out. The patio is nice when the weather is just right for it. This is a counter service, order them go sit down and they'll call you when it's ready. You bus your own table when finished. All in all this place is amazing because of the pastrami sandwich. I don't know that I will get anything else but that when I go. I'll definitely be back to get it as much as I can. Wish this place wasn't so far from home.

My mom got the Philly sandwich and she wasn't the biggest fan. She said she liked the bread, but didn't like the flavor of the Philly steak. My daughter got a slice of pepperoni pizza and loved it. It was a nice big slice! I got the ziti Alla vodka. It was just okay. Nothing special, but the garlic knot that came with it was delicious! The service was nice and quick. We sat on the patio and they brought out each item as it was finished - which I liked because otherbwise it would've been a little cold if they waited for all of it. It's in a good location as well.

Service is quick and friendly and the store is always clean. It's a great experience all around. My only complaint is the price. I eat like a 12 year old, so my sandwich is usually bread and meat. Maybe lettuce if I'm feeling adventurous. I realize that this is a unique situation-most people order enough toppings to justify the cost. But since I don't, sometimes I struggle to pay the full price. And then I remember how good it is. And I shut up and order my sandwich.

Finding the place was the hardest part as we drove around the building nearly twice before we realized the deli must be accessed from inside. Once inside, we loved the natural light pouring in and the cleanliness and openness of the deli. We took a few minutes to go through the menu as they have a lot to offer- many standard and specialty sandwiches, soups, salads, burgers and more. The lady helping us at the counter was patient and amazing, helping us to customize our order with a smile the entire time. We each ordered a different sandwich- an italian sub, a cheesesteak, a hot ham and swiss and an El Cubano. We ordered combos complete with deli chips (bagged but yummy) and a fountain drink (Coke products!) Everybody enjoyed their sandwiches. The only minor complaint during the meal is the Italian Sub had too much bread, or could have used more meat to complement the bread. If Knickerbockers ever wanted to place a location in the Phoenix Metro area we'd love to have them!

It has loads of pastrami, salami and pepper jack cheese with toppings really piled on. My friend ordered the "Mister Ed" sandwich, loaded with roast beef, grilled onions, portobello mushrooms, and provolone cheese. The sandwiches were incredibly generous. (see pictures below) and will definitely feed a large hungry person. Waste no time trying this delightful deli at your earliest. We give it to our highest rating.

I came here twice in 2025: once while pregnant, once after giving birth…read more I definitely had a better experience after my pregnancy than during it. During the fairy festival, my toddler and I stopped by. The only empty table was one of those standing-type tables with extremely high chairs. Putting my toddler on one of those chairs made me nervous, and I also didn't love sitting on something that felt so unstable (again--pregnant). I got a turkey sandwich and paid an extra dollar to have it heated up. I can't have cold meat when pregnant because of listeria. However, my sandwich was only heated to lukewarm, even though it was advertised as "hot" (and, again, I paid extra for the service). I returned to the counter and asked them to heat it again, explaining that it could jeopardize my health otherwise. The counter staff acted like I was extremely annoying and overall, it was a disappointing experience. The sandwich (still just kinda warm, not hot) was at least good, even though eating it made me feel nervous, and the mint brownie I also bought was delicious. I came again during Witch Fest, and even though the lines were longer, the service was better--but it could also be because I didn't have my sandwich heated that time. Overall, I'm unsure when or if I'll be back, but I definitely do recommend the food itself.

Excellent sandwiches!…read more One of the many businesses in Gardner Village, this is a nice stop, providing a quick bite or snack. It's not a cozy restaurant, but it is comfortable. The benches reminded my wife and me of some of the restaurant ambiance of the national park restaurants that we have been to, which is appropriate since the whole theme of the restaurant is about national parks. They have breads, pastries, pizza, sandwiches, hot cocoa, horchata, and coffees as well as soft drinks. We had sandwiches and my wife had hot horchata. The sandwiches were excellent. Both of our sandwiches had turkey in it and it was so tasty and fresh. Upon coming into the Happy Camper, I had one of their samples of whole wheat bread. It was about as good as my wife's homemade bread and was absolutely delicious, so that's what I had my sandwich on. Prices are about par for the course in today's inflationary pricing, around $10-$13 a sandwich. But it was worth it! I'll be back to buy a loaf of the bread. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!
