If there are three words I could use to describe the food me and my friends ate here, it would be SALT, SALT, SALT. Service was great but the food was way too salty. All I could taste was salt. If you want to have high blood pressure, this is a great place to eat. If you do have high blood pressure, this place will be dangerous for you. I'm not exaggerating. My friend felt her heartbeat go way up. And when we said it was salty, they said that it's because of the fish flakes that were added to two of the dishes. However, I had a ravioli with zero fish flakes. And they only gave me three raviolis which is so tiny especially considering it cost me $50. The ambiance is unpleasant and feels like a hospital. I will admit, I fell into my hotel's scam (Hotel Caravita). We had just arrived at the hotel and were hungry for dinner, and the man at the front desk recommended this restaurant, and I fell for it. From our hotel, it was quite a walk, up and down lots of hills even though he said it was only a 15 minute walk. I should have seen the red flag when he said "I'll set up a reservation for you". But after a long day of traveling I thought it was genuine. We arrive at the restaurant which was pretty empty. I'm sure the people who were dining in were also told to go by their hotels, whatever agreement the restaurant has set up with neighboring hotels. The restaurant itself was huge! But it was a red flag that there were maybe 5 other parties inside. This place is fancy, like appetizer, first course, second course, main course fancy. And expensive. And the waiter wasn't the friendliest and kept pushing for multiple courses. We just wanted one pasta dish each, plain and simple. Got the linguine with 1/2 lb of lobster and the spaghetti with meat sauce. Let me just say I have NEVER IN MY LIFE had pasta cooked THIS HARD and so insanely salty. Salty like the sun. The lobster was also over cooked and rubbery. It was such a shame for our first meal in Rome. The spaghetti with meat sauce was much better, but wasn't great. We couldn't get out of there sooner. We had our travel agent book this Michelin star restaurant for us during our trip to Rome. Knowing that Rome has amazing restaurants on every street corner, we expected a Michelin star restaurant here to fully exceed our expectations. This, so very sadly, was not the case. The bread should have been the giveaway and we should have walked out right then and there - it's clearly supermarket or packaged bread that they charge 6 Euro for, and it's stale to boot. Actually, though, the giveaway should have been the sales-y talk we got as soon as we entered the restaurant (like, trying to entice us to buy lobster, before we have even looked at a menu). Luckily we straight-up told the waiter we knew what was up (that this restaurant is a scam) and it seemed like he respected that and stopped pushing unnecessary dishes. He even said "I'm sorry, I don't make the rules here, the owner does." We ended up here because we had made many, many dinner reservations in Rome (GREAT ones) and had spent so much time doing that but we got very stuck with most places closed or booked on New Years Day so we resorted to asking our hotel concierge. HUGE MISTAKE. Do not ask your hotel concierge for restaurant reservations -- lesson learned. The food is fine, it's edible but that's about all you can say about it, and it's significantly more money than many of the actually excellent restaurants you can dine at in Rome. Do yourself a favor and book a table at Antico Arco for a meal you won't forget. I mean, don't get me wrong, I won't forget Rinaldi, but for all the wrong reasons. We knew we were in trouble when they asked when we came in "what hotel are you from".... and being pushed on the (live!) pricey lobster. Service is very attentive and super friendly, but there is a lot of upselling pressure, so don't fall for it. Nice place (super quiet tho--- makes it awkward if only a few couples) and very good food, but didn't like feeling like we were in a tourist trap. Waiter knew we were budget conscious (well, we pushed hard for the 80Euro/kilo lobster rather than the 130E/k) so at the end we got lemoncello on the house with some cookies. Lots of Americans. It was someone's birthday so they put a flame stick in a cheesecake, turned off the lights and sang. Memorable, and amusing to bystanders. It seems that several hotels in the area are recommending this restaurant which I doubt is pure coincidence. I got the spaghetti carbonara, which tasted quite bland. When I mentioned to the waiter that I did not care for it and would like to order something else, he seemed quite offended and not at all apologetic. My husband had the fish ravioli in scampi sauce which was rich and very good (thus the two star review instead of one). What tipped the scales was being charged €3/person for a subpar bread basket and *still* being charged for carbonara I sent back! Received a recommendation from our hotel, Roma Luxus, which was a short walk away. The outside area was full, but our waiter set up a table and chairs for us nonetheless. (Goodfellas style! ) After we picked out our fresh seafood, the chef prepared it two ways for our appetizers and entrees. Our waiter suggested a delicious prosecco and we finishing with tiramisu and cannolli. This was the best meal we had in Italy and on par with our best meals ever. Stopped by for lunch as I was staying in the Rome Central area. I looked to Yelp for a recommendation and this got great reviews (albeit only two). I was warm/y greeted as I entered the brightly, but cluttered restaurant. The staff spoke very little English, but I was able to order the lobster linguini and a split of chardonnay. The food came promptly, there was only one large party of 7 people in the restaurant with me. The linguini was slightly salty and the lobster came in pieces of lobster in the shell. I was not willing to work for so little meat, but managed to make it through. I forgot about the "bread charge" where they charge you in lieu of tip. He made out more than okay, but that is alright because I really enjoyed the experience. Everyone was extremely nice and accommodating. We were asked what hotel we were from when we entered. Obviously this is the main source of their business. However, the restaurant never really got packed, which is telling. The atmosphere and ambiance was nice--nothing super fancy--nothing to warrant our ridiculous bill! We discovered AFTER that each cocktail was 20€ each (and it was NYE...)! Our food was ok, not bad, but certainly not worth what we paid. Then on top of that, the server seemed towards the end to be too busy. We asked another server for our check and didn't get it. Had to ask again from our main server. Then after all that waiting and overall mediocre service, he had the audacity to say "the service is not included". Well, TOO BAD. Maybe they can pay you a kickback from the alcohol gouging. Overall, it really was a downer on our evening. The anitpasta had a variety of meats, cheeses and artichoke and was the best thing we had all night, I'm still craving it. The pastas were good but not the best we've ever had. The seafood is fresh, they pull the lobsters out of the tank right in front of you! But everything was prepared very well. The service was excellent and they made our time there very nice. After struggling to find somewhere to have dinner on Christmas Eve we decided to try this place out. First of all they charge you 6 EUR for a bread basket full of pre-packaged goods. We didn't even touch it and we were still required to pay for it. Then 7 EUR for a 0,75L bottle of water? You have to be kidding! The food is average at its best. 28 EUR for a small sized dish of linguini with 4 very small pieces of lobster. The place screams tourist trap, more specially so when you realize that there are no locals eating there. My best piece of advice would be to avoid this place at all costs but if you still want to check it out ask for a menu before sitting down and see it by yourself. read more

My family was in Rome and wanted a nice Italian meal. Our hotel recommended this restaurant. I read some of the precious yelp reviews and was a little skeptical. However I did notice that the majority of the good reviews were from locals. We had a reservation and they greeted us and sat us down promptly. We were at the restaurant for over 2 hours and they took care of us the whole time. The food was well prepared and for the price I think it compared to any 5 star restaurant in the states. They added an extra touch by engaging with my kids and brought out a Tiramisu that my kids got to help put together. Our waiter Gaetano was very good and attentive. This was the best meal we've ever eaten in our lives. My wife had the white truffle pasta which was one of the best things either of us have ever eaten. I had the sea urchin roe pasta, and it was spectacular. And we shared the sea based baked in salt. Everything from the wine selection, to the service was perfect. Very friendly and attentive staff. Everything the waiter recommended was delicious. We had an appetizer that was to die for. It was sliced beef filled up with a creamy cheese and truffle. I'm not crazy about beef but that stuff was bomb! I ordered a shrimp Risotto that was the best thing I've ever had compared to any rice or risotto dish I've tried. Even my husband that is not crazy about risotto loved it. The sauce was creamy but not too heavy and the shrimp was tender and sweet. Almost tasted like lobster. My husband had the filet with a berry sauce and he was in heaven. The waiter suggested we tried the Tiramisu and since everything he suggested was amazing I agreed even though I don't like tiramisu. It was absolutely delicious, not your typical tiramisu though. At the end they gave us complimentary homemade cookies (still warm) and Limoncello. They have an extensive menu and even more extensive wine list, but were quite helpful in helping us select the right choices.
