We ordered the American breakfast, which is supposed to come with: eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes. Instead we got eggs, bacon, potatoes, beans and a pancake that was a mix between a cookie and dry corn bread. The orange juice is freshly squeezed with fresh SEEDS included. The over easy eggs were swimming in oil as well as the potatoes. Everything was just oily. They advertise their daily agua frescas on a hand written menu but when we ask for horchata they said "not today". Should've gone to the burger joint down the block instead. Waste of time and money. 4++ Mexican restaurant located in or around the area of old town La Puente. The place feels like mom and pop or family owned and operated. It's the type of place that I would be stoked finding it, if I was on a road trip driving from California through Texas (and through New Mexico). It just has that certain quality of authenticity or how you would imagine a Mexican spot like you see in the movies or something. I came in for a late lunch so I was the only one in the restaurant so the service was pretty quick. The menu is full of those combination classics that you would see at certain Mexican restaurants. The restaurant can be easily missed because I didn't see a sign out front however, they do have a small parking lot and you can enter the restaurant from there. We were greeted immediately by the nicest server ever! She was really really sweet and professional. She definitely came back a few times to ensure all was well which I appreciate. The restaurant itself is small but cute and cool inside. We ordered a few items and all were absolutely delicious. I noticed the chips were super fresh and the salsa was homemade and both salsas were delicious! I added salt because it needs just a little. I ordered the Machaca plate which was great. The beans were really good and I really loved that they served breakfast potatoes instead of rice. Others ordered the Chorizo plate which was also delicious and my mother ordered the Nopales with egg which she loved. One thing I absolutely loved is we were served complimentary sopita while we waited for our food and it was simple but, delicious. They looked good but a couple bites in and the carnitas had a shade of green I was so upset because we had gave some to my daughter. Hey guys today we visited cousins we haven't seen since our younger days in La Puente so we decided to be nostalgic and visit Cortez Bros restaurant but they are now Rincon Maria Felix. So we came to get some breakfast. Nice diner atmosphere and very friendly service they gave us a little history. They are about to turn 50 years old!!!! Wow! They started with a complementary cup of fideo which I might say wasn't that bad. My wife ordered the Machaca con Huevos (a shedded beef with peppers and onions scramble) side of potatoes and refried beans I ordered the chilaquiles con carne (fried tortilla chips bathed in red sauce with a piece of steak) side of potatoes and refried beans. Although they had very nice service the chef needs to up his game! The food looked great but the chilaquiles' sauce and the steak was bland needed something. The sauce tasted cannish not from scratch. The steak definitely needed seasoning and felt a little old. For desert we had the churros fried dough covered in cinnamon sugar and filled with cajeta (best part of the meal) I really wanted to like it here but was a little disappointed. My guy was looking for a really good Chile Relleno on a Sunday evening, came on to good old "Yelp" for a few places near by. It appears a lot of places that we frequent for Mexican food were closed and we wanted to try something new. Saw Rincon Maria Felix with 4 1/2 stars. WE got directions and its turns out it is on Old Valley Rd in La Puente, haven't been in this area in years, but found it in what seemed like an industrial area. Parked, went in and no body was in there. Was greeted by a nice waitress who came over and took our drink order, we both decided on the cucumber water and lemon, kinda sour-y but good. The waitress brought us a basket of chips and 2 different type of salsas, wasn't a fan, also, a small bowl of fideo soup, very tastey but I wasn't in the mood for a hot soup so gave it to my man, he eats everything. I ordered the taquitos with guac and my guy ordered little ribs in red sauce and a Chile relleno. My taquitos were 3 with a little guac in the middle that was already turning brown, the staple of rice and beans and a small salad on the plate. The beef taquitos were good, not the guac tho, can't say anything good about the rice and beans, to much salt on the beans and rice was soggy. My guy's ribs were good he said and the Chile relleno was ok. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was good. I will try something else next time. read more

From the moment we walked in, the cozy, welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the carne en su hugo or the pozole. Even the carne asada fries my kids had were highly underrated. Unfortunately they do have a very small menu but they do offer a lot of "off the menu" options such as gorditas and handmade corn quesadillas. You can really tell that everything is made with care and fresh. The homemade tortillas were light and fresh, adding that extra bit of authenticity to the meal.
