The minute you walk in this place , you feel the warmth welcome of the people and the ambiance. Originally was looking for take out but i was greeted by the sweetest lady Angela. With her warm vibe she suggested i would stay and i did. What an amazing experience felt like home. I literally dream about their empanadas. This is a tiny little Colombian spot in New Rochelle - my boyfriend introduced me to it and ever since, I have had crazy cravings for some of their food! Rinconcito has an old time diner feel to it - you have the option of sitting up at the counter on raised red stools or at one of the 3 small tables against the wall. It can get a little warm in there, but only because you are right next to the kitchen no matter where you sit! The first time we came here, I made the mistake of ordering a bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll. What was I thinking?!? Yes, it was good, but I was being too cautious. I tried some of my bf's empanada and I was INSTANTLY hooked! We wound up ordering a second round of empanadas that morning! Since then, we've gotten take out a few times - I got to try the chicharrone. So sinful, but so delicious! Not to mention the salsa verde that they give you with each order...MMM! This is a great little Colombian spot right next to my brother's salon. They have all of the traditional Colombian foods like steak, eggs & rice along with some of the drinks that I've never gotten to taste but always see at Colombian restaurants. They also have some of the basic Spanish & American food, but I don't mess with that stuff. I can tell it's not their thing. Stick with the empanadas, arepas, and traditional Colombian food. The place is family run, very attentive and has a polite staff. The food is very good and fresh! So happy to be eating Columbian food! My dad's family is from Bogota and I had wanted to order the Ajiaco (chicken and potato soup common in Bogota) but they didn't have any today. Instead, I ordered a lentil soup that one of the other customers recommended, which was delicious. I also ordered a pan de bono (savory bread made with yuca flour) and an empanada de res. The manager was extremely friendly and after talking to me he offered for me to try their buñuelos (round slightly sweet bread) and natilla (Christmas dessert). I would definitely recommend and now I get to surprise my dad with some of his favorite treats over the holidays. Yay! The restaurant itself is small and is a diner-style eatery. I love the atmosphere of a "moms & pops shop" this place has, it is usually places like this that serve the best quality food. I had a "Bandeja Paisa", which includes steak, eggs, rice, beans, pork chunks with soft plantains and a salad. It was awesome ! Initially, I was put off by the small space, but in 30 seconds the lady there made me forget the size. She answered my questions with a smile and offered to let me taste things I was thinking of getting. The "mondongo", is what I ended up with and there are NO regrets. The food was EXCELLENT (super fresh and home cooked), the price was affordable and the service 5 star! I was in New Rochelle running errands when hunger struck. A quick Yelp search turned up this Latin/Columbian luncheonette near Monroe College. The ladies who work there were very friendly but did not speak too much English. Luckily they have a huge pictorial menu on the wall, with English descriptions. Using that visual aid and some basic questions, I ordered "a typical Columbian lunch" to go (#29 off the pictorial menu card). It came with white rice, choice of black or red beans, a few pieces of grilled steak, a deep fried piece of pork, a fried egg, sweet plantains and a Cole slaw type salad. It was $11 + tax, freshly made and very filling. They gave me two small containers of what I hoped was a spicy sauce but I found it lacked a serious burn. The ladies were very amused that I look Columbian but could not speak the language. But as I said earlier, they laughed and joked with me and made me feel very much at home. While small, the luncheonette was clean and bright, and the food was freshly made, solid and filling. I will definitely be back to try the other 40 odd items on their very reasonably priced menu. Parking right outside can be a little difficult but two blocks down, opposite Taco Bell there is quite a bit of metered parking. read more

This was my second time coming here for brunch and it was a beautiful experience. It's truly a "rinconcito" with 2 small tables. We were received with warm smiles and tenderness. Felt as if I just arrived at my home and was welcomed by mom and loved ones. Service was great and so was the food. this luncheonette is a hidden gem in plain sight! located on a busy main street in downtown newro, i've driven by it a million times. thank goodness i felt adventurous one day. everything I've tried so far muy delicioso!: arepa, steak, chicken empanada and colombian sausage, colombian scrambled eggs with diced scallion and peppers and more! haven't had a bad meal here. the setting is a very casual humble mini-diner, with ~12 seat counter and perhaps 3 little 2-top tables. the service is polite, but a non-Spanish speaker like me may find a bit of language barrier; but, when the main chef is there (i've been here 5x and he was there 3 of 5) his command of English is perfect. the 3 ladies behind the counter less so but the menus are written in English with photos. i now order specific items rather than the dishes or the combos set out on the menu and they dont mind it at all. this place prolly will hopefully never become a destination for foodies, but this lover of tasty culinary creations from fresh ingredients, is hooked. i'd drive from Greenwich CT or NYC for those yummy arepas any chance i get! read more

I went to Rinconcito Luncheonette on March 9, 2019 for brunch with my friend. It's a very small restaurant with a variety of food selections. As soon as we walked in to the restaurant Angela and Carlos gave us a warm welcome and made us feel like we were apart of their family. We were immediately asked what we would like to drink. And asked if we wanted to taste their homemade arepa or cheese buñelos. They were so pleasant we could not resist and ordered 1 buñelo to start. I must say it was delightful! I ordered the calentao (it's a typical Colombian dish), which was really good. I actually substituted the meat for eggs as I don't eat beef or chicken. It was great! Did I mention how much I love Colombian coffee. Their coffee was so good. I tried their banana coconut cake, flan, and a desert that looks like french toast. All was good but my favorite of them all was the desert that looked like french toast. I would definitely recommend this place. Don't knock it until you have tried it. Small family owned restaurants are usually the best. You get to experience everything in it's entirety. Great place, great food and amazing costomer service. read more

I am a huge fan of Colombian food , but often find it tedious to go into Queens for authentic Colombian. My friend introduced me to this place and could not be happier. Upon going into the restaurant , the owner was warm and very maternal. The service rendered a lot of attention. The owner even told me to put my phone away so I could fully enjoy her food and company. I ordered the #20 , or the typical Colombian breakfast. Omelette , steak, arepa with cheese, rice and beans. Everything was cooked to perfection and the portion was huge. The best part was that it was under ten dollars.
