Excellent experience we asked for Aperol spritzes was very light Aperol and they actually gave two light of Aperol, which is unlike any other bar I've ever been to most of the time they still wanna put in a bunch of aperol because it makes the drink cheaper- they did not and they actually put in very light Aperol- 5 stars. Also, the Fries here are giving McDonald's fries but real & how they should taste not the fake crap that you taste @ McDonald's- very fresh very hot. Very wonderful. I had a really disappointing experience at Rintintin for brunch. When we arrived, the host told us to sit at the bar while they cleared a table for us. We watched the table get cleaned and sit empty for about 30 minutes, but no one came to get us. We didn't want to overstep since it was busy, but after 40 minutes we finally asked if we could sit. The host then asked if we had put our name on a list--which was confusing, since she had already told us she was preparing that exact table for us. Only then were we seated. Once seated, it took another 30-40 minutes for a server to come take our order. We ordered two simple salads with chicken and fries. The food then took about 40 minutes to arrive--and my chicken was missing because it was never entered. At that point I was clearly frustrated, but still patient and polite (I've worked in the service industry, I get that things get busy). I asked about the missing chicken and was told "2 minutes." That turned into another 20+ minutes. After asking again--and waiting even longer--I eventually spoke to the host, who responded in a very rude and unprofessional way, saying it wasn't her job. When I finally spoke to the manager and our server, the manager was more understanding, but the waitress became extremely defensive, raised her voice, and argued with me. The overall environment became very uncomfortable, which should never happen as a customer. While they did comp most of the meal (we were only charged $5), the experience was already ruined. To make matters worse, the same waitress who had been arguing with me still asked for a tip--which felt completely inappropriate given the situation. The food itself was also underwhelming. I understand brunch rushes can be hectic, but there's no excuse for this level of disorganization and especially not for staff speaking to customers this way. I've worked as a waitress for years, and professionalism--especially under pressure--is the baseline. Really disappointing experience overall. Do better--this is NYC. read more

A great bartender can make or break an entire experience. For example, Maiden Lane in the East Village was ruined for me when one of the bartenders got mad that I only tipped 10% on a $6 watermelon juice... We started chopping it up with him, and it was like talking to an old friend: He was talkin smack to my girlfriend that she wouldn't be able to handle the spice in his spicy cucumber margarita, telling us about how he makes his own hot honey, and how much working night shifts wears on you compared to days. He made a MEAN spritz, with an olive to accompany the orange slice. I never knew I needed an olive in a spritz until Aref put me on. How does that saying go again? "Talent hits a target no one else can hit, genius hits a target no one else can see..." He brought our 3rd round of drinks on a Friday at 2:47pm, shot us a big smile and said "this round is on me you guys are great." DAMN AREF YOU GON GET ME EMOTIONAL! We now HAD to order a 4th round to show our appreciation, so we went with the Mezcal Killer Bees, as it had his hot honey in it (no diddy). All the drinks in here were made with soul, and had a little creative spin on them. We loved everything. We also cracked off on a Mezze plate that had fresh pita bread, vegetables, and 5 or so dips. We were in soho for a choral concert at St Patrick's cathedral- gorgeous architecture and what a history, btw-- and we stopped at Rintintin early for lunch. What a find! We arrived before the rush and were the first to be seated in this charming French/Mediterranean/Belgian feeling bar restaurant. My daughter in law had the chicken/lime/cilantro soup which she was so happy with- rain started to pour outside and people piled in. We felt lucky and I was amazed at the delicacy and quality and sheer beauty of the dish presented to me- a tuna tartar with spring greens and dressed sublimely. Enjoyed an impromptu lunch at Rintintin after a casual stroll in Soho, passing time before a work conference in midtown. The server finished setting up the outside patio which was appealing for people watching while eating lunch. The inital interaction with the server was interesting as he seemed very hesitant while taking my order and repeat himself several times. Luckily I also speak fluent Spanish and was able to communicate with him to complete my order. Moving forward he was able to facilitate the conversation in English. I created my own lunch menu a la carte and ordered arugula salad which had a delicious vinaigrette, with a side pf feta cheese, avocado slices, and a grilled chicken. The bartender today with the scruff beard wearing a camo hoodie was so loud and legitimately speaking 5 octaves higher & five inches away from my face. I RARELY ever post 1 star reviews as I'm a bartender myself of 13 years in NYC but man this guy has made me never want to return to this venue ever again. Staff is friendly and there's rarely a wait to be seated during the day. It's a great place to "people watch." The cappuccinos and coffee selection is top notch - the way they foam the milk and present in a classic tazza cup - but there are no decaffeinated options. The truth is that with so many charming restaurants in this area, and without anything "special" about this particular establishment, it's hard to provide it with more than 3 stars. The first time my friends and I went to Rintintin, we asked the bartender to recommend a drink and this was IT for us. It's spicy, refreshing and delicious. And also pretty strong! Side Note ~ If you want the taste without the throat burn, you can ask for it not spicy! I actually prefer it that way! That's honestly the only drink I tried from the menu, but why change something that works? Food~~ Rintintin doesn't necessarily have the best food ever but their menu is super extensive, so there's something for everyone, and the food is perfectly fine! Burger - Simple burger with a thick, cooked to perfection patty, and typical fresh ingredients. There's no sauce so the ketchup helps. I wouldn't say it's the best burger in the city but I was very pleased with it. Zuchcini Chips - I'm usually a BIG fan of zucchini chips, but this wasn't it for me. You can kind of taste the oil more than the zucchini? Not even sure if that's the right way to describe it but that's how it feels. Mezze Platter - They offer a selection of labneh, hummus and other dips. The dips are perfectly fine, but the main event definitely has to be the warm mini pitas... Yum. Fried Calamari - That might have been my favorite dish. They're lightly fried, super crispy, and salty. Which is how I like my fried calamari! All in all... Rintintin is such a vibe! I think that Rintintin is the one of a few places in New York that I returned to most often. I wish less people knew about it, but I keep showing it to my friends, because I like the atmosphere, service and drinks. I have known this place for more than two years, and I can say that they get better and better every time I come. It's very rare in NY.
