I literally just left (actually still sitting in my car), and decided that I had to write this review right now!! Here lately, I've been dealing with Gabriella (she's great), but today, I dealt w/Tammy!! Omgg! I gotta remember not to deal w/her again!! She doesn't listen!! I told her 2 times that the wax was too hot!! She acted like she didnt hear me or didn't care! And she wasn't very pleasant, and she didn't warn me like the other estheticians when she was pulling the wax off! Tammy, if you're reading this, you need to make improvements on your customer service skills or you'll end getting reviews like this! read more

This was my second time going to rio body wax (my first time in Athens) and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The lady who waxed me, Artelia, left wax along my bikini line and everywhere else down there (I had gotten a Brazilian). It was very painful to remove it all by myself. If you go here, I would recommend having another technician. read more

I made an appointment for a Brazilian wax and was able to get in the same day. Tammy was punctual, friendly, and we talked the entire time so I was totally distracted from the pain (haven't waxed in a really long time). I love the results! Quick and easy. UPDATE: Moana went back to Brazil. Eduarda is now my go to here! So sweet and friendly and great conversations, which is helpful for keeping your mind off the pain. Lol. Still my fave place for a Brazilian Wax in Athens. :) INITIAL REVIEW: I go back here time and time again so Moana can do my Brazilian! I have tried a couple other places in Athens but no one else does the job like her. She is extremely thorough (making sure to get every hair) and makes you feel comfortable the entire time. Amanda did an amazing job! She was so easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable. I got the full Brazilian, eyebrows, and half legs.

Everyone I spoke to was super nice but the end result of my wax was terrible. I had large clusters of bruises and popped blood vessels in different areas on my bikini line (I got a Brazilian). The end result looks terrible (purple/red patches everywhere) and is also painful. When I got home I regretted tipping and even more so I regret paying for the whole thing, I feel like I could've done a better job myself. Writing this while icing my bikini right now... would not recommend, there are way better places in athens to get a wax. I have not had this issue at any other waxing studio. read more

Although the end product after the wax is great, everytime I've left every single appointment having to remove wax in intimate areas. Gabriella is the ONLY esthetician I would recommend to others, anyone else waxes like it's their first time which is EXTREMELY painful... Book wisely! read more

So I was looking for a brazilian waxing place in Athens while attending school, because I usually go to another one when I'm home. I tried a few different ones in Athens and I didn't like them or at least it wasn't what I was used to. I tried Rio randomly and Moana waxed me, she is amaazzinnggg. She's so neat and clean and perfect. I love going to Rio wax and I just found out they opened a Rio Body Wax right down the street from my home (the Decatur location is just as amazing). Athens folks, if you're searching for a place for your hair removal needs, I cannot say enough good things about Rio Body Wax. $35 brazilians are the main service they advertise, but they obviously do legs, underarms, eyebrows, etc. I always schedule my appointments online, but walk-ins are welcome and the staff is incredibly friendly. Monique is my favorite, but when she isn't available, any of the other estheticians are wonderful, too. I saw Dagmar for the first time a few weeks ago and she did a superb job. Getting waxed can be a little awkward, but they make sure you're comfortable and do everything they can to make it as painless as possible. They also recently started a rewards program: Every 5 waxes gets you one free one. So if you're a frequent customer like I am, that's pretty awesome. read more

Today I had my second visit to Rio. On the first visit I just went for bikini line, and this time I did full Brazilian. Dagmar is so great! I had never done anything like this before, and she made me feel so comfortable! Definitely recommend if you are thinking about trying waxing! This place is great! Of the waxers I have seen, Dagmar, Monique (who has sadly moved to Camp Creek), and Danyelle, they were all fantastic. Dagmar is probably one of my favorite people in the world and I talk her up to any of my friends when they need a wax/are thinking about it!! I always walk in a little nervous but they are so great at their jobs that it is over in 15/20 minutes and relatively (I mean, you are getting hair pulled out) painless. If you are looking for a place in Athens, look no further! Everyone is so nice and it is very hygienic which is always a plus. Highly recommended!!!! read more

Lauren was really nice. She did a great job on my brows and under arms. I will definitely go back. Only minor complaint is that I was in a room were she could not walk around the table and I had to lay on my side for her to wax my left arm pit. But other than that great service. read more

I've had my brows done here 4 times. For the price they do a good job. I've noticed a few stray hairs a couple times but other than that I can't complain. They're very time efficient but also take the time to wax, pluck and cut the hair which is great. Also have had 2 brazilians and the girl was super helpful with my first one and talking me through it ***UPDATED REVIEW*** A month ago I got my brows done and the woman spent a lot of time on them but did not pluck a single hair, so I had go pluck multiple strays when I got home. Today I got my brows done by Lauren. She spent 5 mins on me total. Was not going to wax the top until I asked her to, she should have asked me. She plucked maybe 2 hairs. Got home and had to pluck about 10 more. I also lost my shape because she went to fast. I am never coming here again. read more

I haven't noticed much difference in quality, when switching around among waxing service providers, so it's really other things that make the difference. I used Rio most frequently because of their location and because they take walk-ins. I stopped once I figured out I've been getting overcharged, with their full knowledge. If you order a full body, it's $60. If you say "legs, bikini, and armpit" or "everything except brows" instead of "full body" you get charged for individual services and it's more like $80. When I brought this to their attention and asked them to credit the difference for my most recent visit (not all the past visits... just the current one), they refused because it was "my fault" for not specifically saying the words "full body." I even asked the manager to call me; she also refused. I can't go there any more on principle... I work hard for my money and take it seriously when I'm not treated fairly. Call me crazy, but I think they should have pointed out that there was a more affordable option for me. But even if not, they should have made it good when I figured it out for myself. The customer is NOT always right at Rio. read more

I love this place! The only thing that would have made it better is a glass of wine! ;) I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes (w/o an appointment). The hard wax technique used here is waaaayyyy less painful that strip waxing. I'll never go back. All the ladies are always pleasant. I would refer anyone to this place, especially w/ the affordable prices ($35 or Brazilian and $65 for the Full Body). This would also be a great place for a first-timer since it's a less painful technique. And, hey, tell them I sent you so I can get the referral bonus. :) haha. read more

I had my first men's Brazilian wax today with Jamie. She was very professional and had a calming effect about her. I really dislike my body hair and have tried shaving and trimming in the past, but just haven't been happy with the results. It is also very easy to nick and cut these very sensitive areas with razors and clippers. So I hesitantly decided to try waxing. I anticipated extreme pain, but was very pleasantly surprised that it was nowhere near as bad as I had feared. It was over very quickly as Jamie worked very efficiently. I am anxious to see how long the results last and plan to return as needed to see Jamie at Rio Body Wax. read more

I've been to European wax center before rio body wax, and honestly it is way too overcharged and rio did a way better job than what I've experienced at European wax center. Got my brows waxed here by Eduarda (the redhead) and they've never looked better! Such a great and welcoming experience would definitely recommend! I went in about a week ago to have my eyebrows done, but was pretty disappointed. The girl was really friendly and nice, but did a poor job. The shaping was pretty basic (no nice arch), and the wax was hot enough that it left quite bad grazing on my left eyebrow. Bad enough that my boyfriend asked wtf happened to my face! I might go back at some stage, as it is conveniently located for me, but will probably try somewhere else in the meantime. read more

Let me preface this by saying I've been coming to Rio for years to have my brows done by Danyelle, but was told today that she was no longer working there. Major bummer. Unfortunately, today I had my second HORRIBLE appointment with Monica. The apathetic girl working at the front desk put me with Monica, which was fine since I told her I had no preference, and I wanted to give Monica another chance. When told she had a customer, Monica apparently began to make faces because she "was tired". Not a good way to start the appointment. Then she proceeded to do my eyebrows extremely quickly without attention to detail, just like our first appointment. I went to my car and looked at my eyebrows in the mirror and realized there were still MANY strays, and Monica had also managed to take off some of my skin by going so fast! I went back in to complain and the customer service was atrocious: no apology from the girl at the desk or from Monica herself. I am extremely disappointed with my service today. If Monica had been the only problem, I would be willing to come back and use someone else, but because the girl at the front desk was equally rude, I might look into some other waxing locations. read more

I had a really great experience with Rio Body Wax. They were super nice about scheduling - I had to move my initial appointment to another day and then I missed it without calling because I got lost (I am new to Athens) so third time was the charm and they were as gracious as could be about it. Had a really friendly lady do the waxing and it was less painful than others I've had elsewhere for considerably more money. First time customers get a special price of only $25! And they were quick, it was in and out with no wait time. Will definitely go back again. read more

Well not a lot of choices in Athens anyway. Prices are pretty much regular. Now sometimes they overcharged you for zone you haven't asked for. I wax my back. I don't have too much so they usually have time to do the shoulder even if I haven't booked or asked for that. Then they charged me for both. Not cool. particularly since a session is 30 minutes and my back takes 15 minutes. You have time to do the shoulder. The wax is bad quality. I have waxed my back for years and I haven't got so many pimples after a wax session but with Rio Body Wax. They want to be super quick so they applied the wax all over you and then add the strip to get rid off the wax (and the hair). So they don't pay really attention of the hair growth direction hence the pimples. Besides it is better to do progressively so the skin is not as irritated. Anyway, it is a clean place and polite clerk. Service is very basic and compared to men salon I have been before it is like going to MacDonald instead of the clocked burger place dt. read more

I have been about 3 times and my first two times I had Dagmar for my eyebrow and lip wax. She did an EXCELLENT job and, way better than any nail salon and for the same price! The last time I went I had Jamie do my eyebrows and lip wax and I was not impressed. She only did 1/2 of my eyebrow and they barely even looked any different when I left. There was no shape at all and they were barely cleaned up. When she applied wax to my upper lip she got it all over my lips and nose and proceeded to rip the skin off my nose and left a painful raw sore on my nose! She seemed like she didn't really care and was sloppy. I like how you can choose who will be waxing you on the appointment maker online and for now on I will choose Dagmar! read more
