This was a fabulous and enjoyable dining experience, marking our second visit to celebrate my birthday. From the moment we made the reservation to arriving at the restaurant, the service was attentive and efficient. While our drinks took a little longer to arrive, it was understandable, and we used the waiting time to let everyone at the table visit the salad and hot entrée bar to select sides before the main course arrived. The variety of meats prepared was impressive; today there were approximately 10 to 12 different cuts, including beef, pork, and poultry, each cooked and salted to perfection. After a few hours of indulgence, the classic "meat coma" set in, causing us to forget some details--but the overall experience remained memorable. The setting was warm and inviting, with comfortable seating and ambient lighting that enhanced the dining atmosphere. The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and quick to assist whenever needed. The only minor downside was parking, which can be challenging during busy times. It's important to pay close attention to parking signs to avoid fines. Ultimately, we opted for street parking, which proved to be the simplest option given the circumstances. read more

There are two locations that I know of. Downtown and Coquitlam. We went to Coquitlam. Very spacious inside. Very limited parking. I've not experienced this type of AYCE dining before and I throughly enjoyed myself. They have a salad bar that is more than a salad bar. They have soups, dips, delicious cultural dishes. When at your table, servers come around with different kinds of meats and will cut you a slice right at the table. The only downfall (for me) is, I prefer my meats cook Blue Rare. The majority of the time the meat is either medium-rare to well-done. All in all a great experience. read more

If this were a stock it would be undervalued, so I'm giving 5 stars to boost the average score. Our group of four came hungry and we were eating within minutes of sitting. We had a reservation, so I'd recommend making one. The restaurant has a good layout where you don't feel like you're sitting so close to hear your neighbors' conversations. We counted 13 different types of meat coming across our table, but there may have been more. My favorites: tri tip, NY strip, pork belly, pork roast, bacon-wrapped chicken, and chicken hearts. The salad and side bar was adequate. We finished with a cheesecake worthy of NY. I was hoping they'd have queijo coalho, but they did have good pão de queijo. Would definitely come back. read more

Clearly you can't expect high quality anything in an "All You Can Eat" situation....so let's get that outta the way. Here, you get what you pay for. If you're expecting a tender melt-in-your mouth filet cut, or a juicy tenderloin cut...and you get to order that over and over and over again for one base price....don't come here...that's not what this is. On the other hand, I do recommend this place...why? here's why.... If you're a carnivore like I am and at times you get these insane red meat cravings, but you don't wanna take out a second mortgage going to fancy steakhouses to meet those cravings...this is the place. The service is great. They come by constantly with their different cuts and you get to choose the temperature, which is a must for me, as I don't eat any red meat over a rare-medium rare. The appetizer buffet is plenty and hits the spot...again, don't be expecting caviar here or shrimp cocktail....not that kinda place. I think what I liked and appreciated about this place was the fact that they didn't pretend. They're like, "you like meat? we've got a lot of it and you can have as much as you want for a price that's not gonna put us out of business." Nothing wrong with that. This review is more of a 3.5 rating. There are definitely differences to this Rio from the one downtown. I did like that there was an open buffet table for sides, salads, and some hot foods. Getting to go up myself to select what I want was great since it was complicated listing out various dishes we'd like to try when we were at the downtown location. Maybe we weren't seated at the best location, but initially a lot of the meats they circled around with skipped us. We also wanted more pão de queijo but was told they were "out". We later saw that they had another 3 baskets for other folks? You'll definitely leave full though! read more

Mostly good - few minor issues. Down side - the parking around this location may seem plentiful but if you look closely not so much. One side has a sign that claims ticketing for parking at the restaurant and the other side has a time limit on the curb. Meaning there are only a few spots on the right and in back and if they are taken - out of luck. (Could be why the restaurant itself was never full.) In any case food and definitely service is pretty good. Kind of like a more stripped-down and low key Fogo de Chao, there are only a handful of side dishes and three hot items in salad bar buffet. But for regulars the meat is the key and they do it mostly right for sure. Picanha, New York, Filet, Tri-Tip are all amazing. (Don't forget to get a side of the Chimichurri sauce located end of the salad bar!) Skip the pork sausage (dry) and pork ribs (overly salty and tough!) Tried the chicken hearts - strange but may be good for some. Plus my girl had the drink sampler and they made it right in front of her. And she loved the cheese bread as well. Came by to try the churrasco here. My review is a bit biased since I have been spoiled elsewhere. See below. Parking is available in the spots surrounding the lot. Be careful. The lot is attached to the nearby strip mall as well as McDonald's, and the spots are not shared. The interior is dimly lit. Nice and spacious thanks to the high ceiling. Staff are friendly, though sparse. Had to wave them down a few times. The night we went (Sunday), there weren't too many customers. As a result, the meat was put under the warmers for a bit longer than I would've liked. Things were overcooked and the juice had dried up for a lot of the food. This applied especially to the steaks. The chicken was done well, though I suspect this was because we happened to get a fresh skewer. The place also serves lamb and ribs out of a mobile carving station, which seems different from the downtown location. Special mention. I also tried the salad bar. Nothing too special there, though one can get some vegetables there, as well as some cooked items such as steamed rice and fish. They also have feijoada (Brazilian pork and bean soup). They also serve hot pineapple slices with cinnamon. Wow this is good. Be sure to save some room towards the end. Pricing is a bit steep, at $40 a person (January 2020). Just a heads up. Overall it's one of few churrasco choices in town and it's half decent. However, for a better (but also more expensive) churrasco experience, hit up Fogo de Chao in Belluvue, WA (they have other locations too). read more

I went here last night for my dad's birthday dinner, and everyone loved it! The meats came quickly with a good variety of cuts, including New York strip, top sirloin, tenderloin, lamb, to name a few, along with other meats like chicken drumsticks, chicken hearts, and pork chops. They also had fried cinnamon pineapple--I am not a fan of pineapple so I didn't ask for a piece but I regret not doing so after sampling my sister's because it was delicious! There was a salad bar with various side dishes, like paella (my favorite), fried mushrooms (my second favorite), mashed potatoes and other things. Service was fast, friendly, and professional. The only thing we missed was dessert--either it wasn't offered or they didn't have any. We were too stuffed to eat more anyway but if we knew there'd be dessert then we'd have saved some room! Depends how you like your meat cooked. The meat that comes around is mostly RARE. It's about $100 for 2 people plus tips. The past few times I've gone they took away the new york steak cut and replaced it with flank for the all you can eat menu. I have found the steak too salty and too rare the past few occasions. The cheese bread is the best! The service is okay but the water glasses are small and with the extra salty meat, I sometimes find myself disparate for my glass to be filled. My friend suggested to eat here so we decided to give it a try. Then we were told there is no a la carte, just all you can eat for $29.50 per person. The salads were ok but tomatoes mushy ... how do you screw up salad? Then the meat was good, sirloin and pork. Hard to understand the meat lady's accent though. Fries, sautéed mushrooms and green beans were decent. Then at the end the waiter asked if we wanted dessert. Thinking it was included, we ordered a Brazilian flan thing that was gross. We were charged an extra $8.50! All in all 2 stars for good meat, and decent sides. You need to continually wave them down for service and they won't ask how everything is or top up your drinks. Last sunday, me and the wife had a reservation for fathers day. We got there 12 pm, we were pretty much the first ones in, and we got escorted to our table by a blonde young lady, that made sure we KNEW that our reservation was only good for 2 hours, they were waiting for over 500 people that day, and they needed the tables. I understand that those occasions are busy days for the food industry, but I never got that kind of observation, and I dont want to be minding the clock, specially on a place where the food can come quickly...and some times it doesnt come at all. When our server (Tarcio) introduced himself to us, I spoke about the treatment we got from the host, and Tarcio said he would make sure we would get well served and all the food we wanted. I have been going to Rio quite frequently, at least once a month, and I never got asked to leave or that time was running out So I was worried that I would have to eat in a hurry, or that my favorite cuts of meat would not get to me, since the place would be full, and there was a time limit. Fortunately, Tarcio saved the day, and gave us wonderful service. I will be visiting Rio again soon, but definitely not on special dates. Came across Rio Brazilian STeakhouse. It was fabulous. My party of 20 was able to reserve our seats adequately and upon arriving we were greeted. because it was our first time the waitress briefed us on the system. We had the opportunity to try various types of steaks from New York, ribeyes, brisket, lamb, chicken, sausage, chicken & bacon and many more. The portions were smaller which enabled us to try different types of meat. It was very tasty, marinated, soft and tender. Unforgettable experience. Unfortunately due to covid, there were no dancers available anymore but the staff who were serving the meat was very friendly, informative about the culture and very approachable. The traditional uniforms by the crew was lovely to see. The salad bar had so many choices. We loved the different types of salad and paella, mashed potato's & sautéed mushrooms. Wonderful restaurant, great ambiance. There is a humongous salad bar that includes paella, feijoada , salmon and a lot of other types of food. The rodizio was excellent, the have a huge variety of meats as chicken, lamb and a lot of types of beef . The service is outstanding and fast. Our waiter /manager look, FERNANDO was very friendly and profesional and knows exactly how to satisfy customers. Dessert with guava licor is delicious. The show was superb, beautiful samba dancers and it is a very affordable restaurant . We were 4 and we had a blast!!! Hardly can wait to go back soon!!! read more

We happened to come here in the late afternoon, so we decided to try their all-you-can-eat meal (about $45 per person). We tried a lot of the meats that they were serving (they bring the meat on a skew or trolley and slice it for you by your table), such as rib eye, sirloin, lamb, chicken drumsticks, chicken hearts, beef brisket, pork chop, and cinnamon pineapple. I might have missed something, but basically there's quite a bit of different kinds of meat. The most frequently served meats were the steaks, and the others were somewhat less common. They also served fried bananas and cheese before the meal. These were quite good, although I thought the fried cheese was a bit tough to eat, like somewhat dry mochi. My companions enjoyed the meat, but mentioned that a lot of them were very salty, especially on the outside bits. Sometimes I thought that the meat tasted very salty, whereas they didn't think so. Overall, the meat could be overly salty, but definitely not under-seasoned. If you're very particular about their level of saltiness, this is probably not the place for you. We weren't terribly bothered, only slightly surprised (we hadn't read their Yelp reviews). The steaks were not at all overdone, a lovely shade of medium-rare. The lamb I ate was probably the best--extremely tender (it practically melted in my mouth) and not too salty! The beef steaks were usually not overly salty, but I found that the pork chops and beef brisket were the most likely to be over salted (they were also one of the least frequent). Additionally, some of the meat dishes took a long time to come out of the oven, which lead to some meat dishes being more frequently served than others. Could just ask the staff when a certain meat dish will be ready, but it was definitely a bit of a wait for us to try all the meats. We really enjoyed the cinnamon pineapple the most out of everything, ironically. They seemed to enjoy the pork chops, but I actually enjoyed the fried chicken drumstick. The salad bar was pretty nice. They had an okay paella, a lot of salads, even rice and mashed potatoes! Silly as it sounds, I enjoyed the potato salad with my steaks. They also had an interesting dish, feijoada, when we came here. Lastly, we all noticed that the washrooms were a bit neglected. The washrooms were not terribly dirty, but enough to notice that it hadn't been taken care of. I think the overly salted meats and this inconsistency in quality knocks 2 stars off my rating. Normally a dirty washroom, high price, and all-right food would only get 2 stars, but we thought the staff were an appropriate level of friendly, and they just did a good job overall. If you want a bit of a thrill on the meat-saltiness dice throw, and you to eat until you're stuffed regardless, maybe this place is for you! read more

We have passed this restaurant a number of times. The location isn't stellar. Previous couple of restaurants at this location failed to survive beyond two years each. Slightly on the pricey side, we we decided to try the lunch AYCE first. The plan was if it is good we will try the dinner option in a future date. We didn't mind the fewer selections. In fact it was plenty. They had about 5-6 rotisserie meats which they continuously brought out. Slice by slice can add up. There were about 20 or so items in the buffet area which includes salads, fries, pastas and couple of dishes in warming pots. Really like the interesting system they have set up of bringing meats around. The meats are tender and juicy if you catch them on the initial run. For most part, the buffet were great too. Maybe the dishes in the warming pots can be a bit overcooked but they were still tasty. Service was fantastic. Our servers were wonderful and very informative. Then this lady comes up and tells us, we can't be seated - there's no service because the kitchen is closed.. We say, how... We have a reservation for 3..And she says, well because we were late she cancelled our reservation.. My wife says "But... We've been standing here for the past 10 minutes and you folks have been ignoring us... And Its supposed to be happy hour isn't it.. And yet we can't still get service?" We're told no.. There's no service until next week.. because... That's when they start again?? The explanation made zero sense.. Meanwhile there's people in there and outside having their food and refreshments... My wife tells me she's catching some heavy racial vibes here.. So while our friend is annoyed out of her senses.. We opt to book out. Clearly we're not wanted in here... Went to cactus instead.. Sometimes, I use harsh tone or faulty language to express my dissatisfaction. Today, I find no insult greater than telling the truth about Rio - Coquitlam's service. Step 1: Reservation - Online reservation showed the restaurant was offline, so we had to call to do reservation. Not at all a big deal. Step 2: We arrived at 7:00 pm. The server explained what Brazilian steakhouse is, and we got started. We helped ourselves with some salads, warm rice and back to table to be served all-you-can-eat meat. Step 3: 2 oz medium rare beef served, followed by a couple of chicken "hearts." Then soon after one chicken leg. STOP! Step 4: Dancers came. They danced for 10 minutes and then they slacked by bringing couple of children to the floor to show them funny dance moves. 7:20 (15 min in total) performers left and until 8:15, when we left, there was no other performance. Now, from 7:15 to 7:55, we literally begged for meat. Just a piece of medium rare meat, roasted pineapple (I thought pineapple is fruit. Tonight I learned that it's Brazilian meat), and chicken "hearts" kept coming back. Step 5: after my rice became ice cold, I complained to one of the servers. 15 minutes later, two sausages, and 2 chicken legs appeared on our table. Pretty ok place. - Very pricey for the quality of food. I get that they are trying to serve authentic Brazilian food (yes, I am Brazilian), and I get that probably some ingredients are not easy to find and therefore it could increase the cost of things. But this place does not have at all a standard of a $$$ place. They probably took 30min to bring me a coffee and it took even longer to bring my husband's coffee. - The waiter who was serving the meat often was skipping person with the green side of the card facing up. - Other than that, I have to say the cooked cassava was good as well as feijoada. That's why my 3 stars. Finally, I had a pretty bad experience at Rio in downtown Vancouver in 2014 and that was the first time since then I came back to Rio (it was an invite from a friend). Get there and WOW! Salad buffet bar was decent. Good choices - but basic for the most part The MEATS THO! If you're a carnivore, this is the place for you! After the 4th meat serving I was stuffed... Didn't prepare for this... GO ON AN EMPTY STOMACH! There are 40 different meat options... Go wild! We had our 19m daughter w us and they were very accommodating with her and considerate of her safety - lots of hot plates roaming around and steak knives! Just as we were getting into our food comas and ready to leave, the Brazilian samba dancers came out in their beautiful costumes. It was a live show! Loved that they were so interactive and even pulled up some of the guests to dance. Over all, I'd highly recommend coming here for a nice night out, without having to drive to the city! After reading the ton of negative reviews, I was second guessing my decision to go here for dinner but being that it was for a friends birthday the decision was out of my hands. Here are my views. Service. Excellent waitress and front end staff. Very friendly. The water was always filled up which was great. The men serving the meats were great as well. Food. Everything was seasoned nicely. The chicken hearts were awesome and most of the beef dishes were good. Some of the cuts were tasty and tender and some were tasty but tough. Some cuts of beef are not meant to be grilled I guess. No pork or lamb came our way though so I can't comment on those. The meat came fast and furious and I ate my fill. The salad bar was ok. I wouldn't recommend the paella but this isn't a Spanish restaurant, it's a Brazilian one. Value. I don't think that the meal that I ate was worth $37 plus a automatic gratuity of %15. Dinner for 2 with one drink each came to $120. Little pricy for what I ate. All in all though not a bad place to hold a party and eat a bunch of different food. Will I be back.? Probably not. I never write reviews but I just felt the need to after going to this restaurant. To start off with, we sat by a window filled with dirt and gum. The plates were still dirty. Some were even chipped. They had about 10 sauces out by the buffet area that were all basically empty. They looked like they haven't been wiped for like a year. Why even bring out empty sauces? They were all grimy and sticky. I asked multiple servers for more sauce but they didn't have any. The sides were all disgusting and old. One of our pork and chicken thigh were still raw. The meats were not good at all. I usually eat rare steak, but it tasted so off so I opted for well done. I spat out so much of the meat. I felt disgusting eating the food. Never again! read more

Great food and excellent dance entertainment. A real fun and family friendly atmosphere. I was surprised at the quality of the meat and it just kept coming, brought to us by handsome friendly Brazilian men. The salad bar was fresh and there was even a selection of seafood and vegetarian options. My favourite was the grilled pineapple. The biggest surprise was the dancers who cannon at 7:30 then again in full costume change at 8:30. The show was fun and sassy and family appropriate- the kids especially loved getting up with the dancers. I would say it's a great place to go with a work party or on a date! read more

We used to live in Toronto and loved Copacabana Brazilian Steakhouse, so we were so excited to learn about Rio Brazilian Steakhouse. We took our in-laws who were visiting , but were left a bit disappointed. The service was friendly, so that's a plus. While the restaurant had a nice ambiance, the tables where everyone was being sat was squished together, so we were stuck hearing the next tables conversation the entire night. The salad bar was extremely disappointing- ranging from salads with no flavour to iceberg lettuce ad what seemed to be store bought dressing from a bottle- it wasnt special... and felt a little bit like a rip off. I ordered a dirty martini as my drink... emphasizing that I wanted it to be very dirty... the drink that arrived was clear, with four olives, but there was literally no olive juice in the martini. The rib was excellent, but there didnt seem to be a huge variety in food. We didnt get offered lamb, and only had one chicken option when we first sat down. There was a lot of beef which was okay, but not great. The restaurant isnt terrible by any means, but in our experience it was "meh". For those who have been to Copacabana in Niagara Falls or Toronto, dont expect it to be the same. read more

My husband didn't enjoy the meat selection. He was disappointed. The sausage he said tasted like breakfast sausage. The only down part was my husband noticed the staff talked in their language, said some nasty things about another couple who sat a couple tables over. An Elderly couple. He speaks Portuguese. He understood what was said. I wanted him to say something but he didn't. The only thing he said was bye in Portuguese to the servers who were talking bad. The look on their face said it all. It just amazes me when you think you have a friendly server, you find out how they really are. He was waiting to see if the two servers were going to say talk bad about us but they didn't. We came for my husband's birthday on a Tuesday and there were 5 or so other tables. Meats are delicious! My favourites were beef brisket, garlic steak, lamb, chicken hearts (I know everyone tells you not to waste time with chicken but OMG so good) and cinnamon pineapple. The sirloin top was actually a bit fatty for me but the rest of the party liked it. It was very flavourful. We had couple Caipirinhas and a Margarita and liked them. This place was by far the worst dining experience I have ever had. The buffet was awful. The meat was either over cooked or under cooked and heavily salted. The pricing was absolutely absurd for the service and food you were receiving. I would not recommend this place for anyone and will not return ever again. read more
