On Dec 16. I'm a permanently and totally disabled veteran and have an a ADA compliant service dog fully trained. The girl that took my order instructed me to go outside with my dog and she would bring my order out to me. I politely explained that i have a service dog and do not wish to go outside. Ultimately another customer interjected himself into conversation and said "she told you she would bring it out to you". The situation became unbearable and I took my dog outside. The same girl brought me my coffee out side in the rain. No manager, no apology, no consolation. I've filed a complaint with the US Department of Justice Civil Rights division. They acquire beans from Nicaragua and donate a portion of their sales to fund school projects in Nicaragua thru Project Ezra which is in it's 37th year. Stopped in for breakfast this morning and got the breakfast burrito. It was delicious! It is pressed hot on the panini press - making it extra good. The coffee is good. They roast their own beans and so many of the blends are delicious. The specialty coffee drinks are tasty too. We tried the "coffee toffee". The staff is friendly. The prices are reasonable and a portion of the proceeds goes to support an educational program in Nicaragua. All in all, it's a good place to get great coffee and a bite to eat. You really don't expect a place as quiet as Vero Beach to have their own coffee roasters, but they do, and it's good. The Rio Coco Café is a charity organization that runs a dozen schools in Nicaragua, so the money you spend here goes towards that goal. All the staff here are volunteers and are really on top of things. Apart from a little mix-up with the coffee for my pour-over, the entire experience was really great, especially since in setting things right, the roaster gave me a little tour of the roasting room behind the kitchen. By far the best iced cafe latte in town! Chicken pesto panini with a side salad was so good too. A hidden gem. Near airport so a ton of pilots and a very relaxing atmosphere. I have gone by this little, out-of-the-way cafe almost daily for over two years and finally stopped in a week ago. It was mid day and someone was playing guitar when I arrived, but finished before I could get my coffee and enjoy it. So I came back again this week on 1/25/2017 for taco and dessert night. They have open mic night from 5:30 to closing at 8pm. My wife and I enjoyed the tacos and decided to stay for the music. No one had signed up by the time we finished our meal, so I did (while my wife went for dessert)! Before I was able to get up there several others also signed up. We all had a great time doing our numbers (limited to 3 each to be fair to all). I returned again today and had the steak panini. It was also very good. Fresh and tasty with just the right amount of cheese. Not too greasy as some can be. And I had the Nicaragua dark blend coffee. Oh, did I mention this is a family place. Lots of late HS and college students come to study and talk. Food is reasonable and the coffee is the freshest in Vero Beach. All the coffee profits I believe go to support a mission in Nicaragua for a school for Miskito native children. Pretty impressive. They do their own roasting right in the back...Mike, the owner, showed me how it was done. He was really friendly, as was his wife Laura. Don't let the exterior fool you, the inside is full of goodness! It's located in a shopping plaza near the Vero Beach Airport. When you walk in the atmosphere is instantly welcoming, filled with the smells of roasted coffee. I absolutely love coffee shops and this place doesn't disappoint. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly! There's a food menu, drink menu and a coffee beans menu. The food menu consists of breakfast items, salads, paninis and wraps. I ordered the Kara Bean Salad with Chicken and my boyfriend ordered the Pesto Chicken Panini. The Kara Bean Salad ($7.01) is vegan and gluten free unless you decide to add additional items to it. I added chicken for an additional 2 dollars. This is a vibrant salad with spinach, romaine lettuce, shredded red cabbage, black beans, corn, mandarin oranges, almonds, Parmesan cheese and balsamic vinaigrette. This salad had great texture and was very hearty. The Chicken Pesto Panini ($7.24) has chicken, roasted red pepper, mozzarella, and pesto. The wraps and sandwiches come with multi-grain flax chips and a pickle. This was another filling menu item but not overly filling where you want to take a nap after lunch. There are two flank steak items listed with fairly close prices. The Flank Steak Salad ($7.48) and the Flank Steak Panini ($7.71). The Flank Steak Salad has steak, spinach, romaine lettuce, sweet peppers,red onions, tomatoes, and balsamic vinaigrette. The Flank Steak Panini consists of french bread, steak, red onions, horseradish sauce, and RC sauce. I found the salad to have more flavor and more content than the Flank Steak Panini. Overall the food is good and the service is great, but you should really come here for the coffee. read more

It's located on the edge of the Vero Beach Airport but it's worth the quick trip. Great Latin American coffee selections enjoyed with a French Press or a pour-over. Honduran Blue Mountain = highly recommend! Laura and her team were very knowledgeable, and very welcoming. It's evident the they're "all-in" to support Rio Coco's charitable cause while providing a great atmosphere, great coffee, and a great experience. This cafe is a nonprofit that supports education for kids in Nicaragua. I love their mission and their laid back atmosphere. Every time I've been here the staff has always been really friendly and helpful. The inside reminds me of a beach cafe, even though they're near the airport. It has a hipster/beach vibe.
