Without hesitation, she suggested the Riverside Cafe in Vero Beach, and we are certainly glad she did. The Riverside Cafe has been serving locals and visitors since 1986 and is located on the south side of State Road 60 just before crossing the bridge. In fact it is right below the bridge on the river. It has become something of a local institution, known for its waterfront dining, seafood, and relaxed atmosphere. There was plenty of parking available when we arrived, some even under the shade of the bridge. We entered and were greeted by a friendly hostess who quickly seated us. We chose to sit outside along the Indian River Lagoon, which provided a beautiful view during our meal. The menu has a good selection of seafood, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and other American favorites. I ordered the French Dip with fries, while my wife selected the fish and chips. My sandwich was excellent, and my wife enjoyed her meal so much that the portions were large enough for her to bring part of it home. What really made the visit memorable, however, was our waitress, Meghan. She was absolutely outstanding, the kind of server who is always two steps ahead, bringing drink refills before we even realized we needed them and checking on us just enough without ever becoming intrusive. Our total for two full meals and drinks came to about $50, which we thought was very reasonable considering the quality of the food, the generous portions, the beautiful waterfront setting, and the exceptional service. Overall, this was an excellent eating experience and one that exceeded our expectations. It definitely felt like one of those places the locals know about, and after our visit, it's easy to understand why. I would certainly recommend the Riverside Cafe to fellow travelers visiting Vero Beach area. Enjoy!

We arrived around 1:00 PM and happened to be the first people there, which was nice. The indoor ambiance is very casual. It's not really a place for large groups or gatherings, but it's great for a small group looking to grab a drink. Now for the service. Our server, who was also the bartender and chef, was incredibly accommodating, quick, and provided AMAZING service given the circumstances, so kudos to her. That said, she was the only person working in the entire establishment that day. While it was manageable when it was just our party, once more guests started coming in it was clearly overwhelming. She ultimately had to close the kitchen, which was understandable, but it happened before everyone in our group was able to order food. That left us in an awkward situation where we had to leave and go elsewhere so the rest of our party could eat. We still had a great time and enjoyed our drinks, and this is absolutely not a reflection on the server at all. This falls on management or ownership. Staffing only one employee the day after Christmas is something that really needs to be reevaluated. I genuinely felt bad for her.

And the staff was amazing, I saw the same three baristas Samaya, Cindy, and Angela and each time they were incredibly helpful and attentive, very sweet and professional. We got there at about 11:30 on a Saturday morning and there was about a 20 minute wait - not bad at all. Once seated, we were brought water and the cutest bread basket, blueberry muffins!! My fiancée ordered the chocolate chip pancake big breakfast and I got the same, with lemon blueberry pancakes. These pancakes were DOUSED with berries, and the lemon shone through. The eggs were great and the bacon was perfectly crispy. The atmosphere in this place is SO beachside shabby chic. It's all bright wood, local art, and driftwood pieces. One note for parents - the tables are glass topped and they do not allow clip-on high chairs. Absolutely not a negative, just felt it was important information to share.
