We had the best meal from here the other night. I ordered the cheese and onion enchilada dinner with rice and beans and it was honestly so delicious. The enchiladas are super flavorful with tons of cheese and sauce. The rice is seasoned perfectly and is super fluffy and just salty enough. The refried beans are rich and velvety and best served piping hot. I don't typically finish my meals at restaurants (I always take home leftovers), but this time I ate everything! The chips and salsa is always really good as well.. we like the spicy queso. That stuff is addictive, I can't stop eating it once I start. Decent prices. Nice bar to cozy up to. First, the food is excellent, tasty, and less salty than most Tex Mex. THE BEST PART was the (biggest) party we have gotten together (with 15 vaccinated friends) in over a year. Laura was very nice, offered us a 3 choice menu, and gave us attention like we were arranging for 100 guests. She wasn't working on party day, but her replacement Nancy knew about our resv and she arranged it flawlessly while still maintaining social distance. We had a great time. 2/12/24 We ate (food was excellent) and then got our check. I paid thru an app that I use (InKind) and they accept this. I had a credit and paid the bill. We got up and left and the (I assume) the manager ran up to my husband when he was getting in our truck. I had just shut the door on the passenger sign and I had no idea what was going on. My husband looked and said that the manager said we didn't pay. I told her I paid thru the InKind app but she insisted LOUDLY (right in front of the restaurant) that it didn't go thru and she needed it to be paid. My husband asked what was going on? Did I pay? I pulled up my app and pulled up the receipt and showed her. She continued to act like we were trying to "dine and dash". Anyway, we finally figured out that $9.04 wasn't paid. I have no idea why but if we owe it, that's fine. I asked her why she said the full amount didn't go thru and she grabbed my husband's card and went in. She sent the server back out with the card and receipt and he signed it. He asked why we didn't tip and I said I did. It was 22% and it was on my receipt. We were humiliated. We would never skip a check. I don't mind her coming out but she didn't have to act like we were criminals! You won't get our business ever again! This was on 1/29/24 Excellent food and service! I love good Mexican food, tasty margaritas, and at least common sense in service. I found none of those at Rio Mambo in Colleyville. Food was terrible, drinks passable, and service ... so bad I thought we were being punked. Now add a swarm of flies all over our food, drinks, and us. I was swatting non stop and flies were camping on the rim of my glass and just relentless. Not just one hear and there, but a swarm so heavy I was waiting for 3 AM Feed the Children commercial to feature us for sponsorship. I told the manager, and she said, " Yeah. that's part of sitting on a patio." Seriously. No offer to move us, not even a paper fan or flyswatter thrown our way. I looked around and no other patio tables were being savaged by renegade flies. Yes, we showered beforehand. No, I don't wear perfume. An $11.50 breakfast taco plate with water and tax was $21.48. Those who got a drink paid over $24. I went to the Colleyville location service was not great, The waitress couldn't tell me if the queso blanco was any good she just shrugged her shoulders. I asked her what came with the salmon she said idk and pulled up some pictures on her tablet, I said I want salmon with some veggies she brought out salmon rice that was mixed with mayo yuk! and coleslaw. That's not what I asked for. The staff needs to learn to upsale and definitely needs to know what is on the menu not just show a picture. Not impressed with the food my coke was flat. read more

I feel like I'm missing something, I don't get what all the fuss is about. However, I ordered delivery through UberEats while at work, and I did read through some of the reviews, so I think this place really brings it on atmosphere and drinks and I just didn't get to see that. The menu was appealing. I liked the idea of their brunch, and both the brunch and lunch menus are fairly reasonable. The lunch menu is a range that goes a little high, but normal for the area. The all day menu includes quite a few options that are expensive though. For those of you who love your veggies, I noticed they allow you to substitute sautéed veggies instead of rice and beans for a $2 upcharge. I couldn't decide between the appetizer platter and one of the combos. Those are my go to's when I try a new Tex-Mex place, because I like to sample items and decide if I want to come back. I ended up going with the Uno Dos Tres which gives you a choice of three items from enchiladas, tacos, chalpua and tamale. I decided to go with the beef enchilada with queso sauce, a brisket taco and a beef chalpua. FYI on the chalupa, you never know what you are getting from different Tex Mex places, but their chalupa is a tostada. The food arrived with a bag of chips and salsa. The salsa was good- spicy, chunky and clearly made in house. The chips were unfortunately stale and not really enjoyable. They packaged the food well but when I unwrapped it, I was really unclear on why the food is so popular. The taco was limp, bland and the corn tortilla was greasy. I wouldn't go with a taco, or the brisket in general, on any future visits. The chalupa and beans were both okay, not especially tasty but fine. I prefer my tostadas crunchier and the lettuce tasted a little weird, but overall it fulfilled most expectations. The enchilada was a lot smaller than I expected and it somehow exploded open during delivery. No big deal since enchiladas are eaten with a fork anyway. This beef was better than what was on my chalupa, the queso sauce was nice and spicy, and the tortilla was decent. I would order this again, maybe try all three enchilada options on a meal. I thought the rice was really good as well, nice seasoning there. Overall, $9.34 isn't too bad for lunch, I was just disappointed with the small portion size and was really expecting more in terms of food quality from the other reviews. It's possible I just ordered the wrong thing or caught them on an off day. Maybe it's one of those instances when you've been meaning to try a popular place and your expectations are too high when you finally do. I'm certainly willing to try something else and maybe they'll wow me then. For now, it's pretty average with some lows, but a couple of nice high points. read more

I can't say enough about the quick response from the Corporate Office. My last experience I posted a review of my experience and the Corp Office followed up with an email about my experience. They were quick to let me know that the issue had been addressed with the restaurant mgmt and invited me back. Ladt night I ordered the same dish and it was delivered without a problem. The server was very friendly and efficient. The mgr Laura was very helpful and friendly. Rio Mambos is one of my favorites in the area. We chose to go on Cinco del Mayo and was it packed. Usually, you end up with so so service when a restaurant is that busy, but not us. We got a waiter by the name of Eric; it was his first night there and he was on top of it. The poor guy had a table of 3, then 3 more of us joined the table then another and then 1 left but he stayed on top of us the entire time. I have to say for his first night there I give him 5 stars. When the mood struck to try something new the other night, we thought of Rio Mambo since we are always driving past it. I was weary when I saw how empty their parking lot was at a prime dinner hour, especially seeing as their neighbor La Hacienda (a fellow Tex Mex restaurant) was packed. We found the inside layout confusing. The bar area was tucked away and advertised as 'Club W'. Does this turn into a salsa club at night perhaps? That could explain why the tables were weirdly positioned along the walls with plenty of main floor real estate left unoccupied which could have easily accommodated more seats. Chips and salsa came out quickly, but sadly were nothing to write home about. The normal salsa was watered down and lacking in flavor. The other was heavy on cilantro and had so much heat in it that all you could taste was fire. My husband ordered the beef fajitas as his meal, and said the beef was the most tender and flavorful he's had in a very long time. Their flour tortillas are pretty good too. I was craving a salad so I got the Ensalada Mazatlan which has both iceberg and romaine, grilled chicken, queso fresco, diced avocado, strawberries, blueberries, applewood smoked bacon, and a house made cilantro honey dressing. This salad had the potential to be great, but mine needed some improvements. I have a sensitivity to plastic and can taste if something has been sitting in it for 5 minutes or hours. Their lettuce certainly had because that's the only flavor I got when I took a bite. Some of the blueberries still had their stems in them, and there was only a tablespoon of queso fresco on the entire salad. The dressing was dry and almost unnoticeable as well. I think a balsamic instead would have been nice. I appreciate their lengthy menu, but overall felt the prices didn't match the quality of food we were given with the exception of my husband's fajitas. read more

La hacienda next-door had an hour wait, so we decided to go to Rio Mambo. They had no wait. That should've told us some thing. They need to be wondering why they are not , when the restaurant next-door is. My husband bought me this Margarita that looked so enticing that was blueberry and blackberry infused. But it had absolutely no flavor. I didn't even finish it if that tells you anything. Who doesn't finish off a margarita? The food was bland and we had to add salt just to give it some flavor. The chips were rubbery because they were so oily... it was bad. My son did enjoy his tamales so that was a plus since we were there to celebrate his birthday.
