I'm 4 hours away and all they had to do was register the bar code. they shouldn't have sold me an unregistered ticket in the first place and their answer was to "come in."! mind you 4 hours away. poor service by the person that answered the call at 8:10 on 7/1/2025. read more

I was that one person who read about the bioluminescence and came into town. This liquor store was smart. On a Sunday, he was still opened at 12 am! He got lots of business during the bio lum. He had a wide variety of snacks and beach towels/blankets that many people purchased. This location is convenient for beach goers who want to pick up something quick. read more

The line for the restroom at Rio Del Mar beach was insane. My little sis-in-law and I thought we could go across the street to ask if we could use the restroom. We tried Rio Market first. My little sis-in-law asked politely if we could use their restroom and the girl at the register said in a very rude manner "the restroom is the building across the street" - eww! Prior to our restroom incident my husband went to buy cup o noodles because it was gloomy and cold until 5pm. The cashier followed him around and asked him in a very rude tone what he was looking for because he squatted down to see what flavors they had. He told her "I'm looking for gold but since there is none I'll settle for some noodles". She felt stupid and walked away. Next time we are in the area and in need of some munchies I'll make the drive down the street to the supermarket instead of shopping at this store. read more

I'm all into funky cool stores along the coast and this is one of them. It reminds me of what Lee Chong's store in the book "Cannery Row" by John Steinbeck would have looked like. Rio Market sits just across the street from the pacific ocean. The salty air and crashing of waves in the distance. People walking, running and playing on the beach can be seen from the door steps of the shop. Entering the shop the first thing that comes to mind is sensory overload. It is packed from floor to ceiling with every conceivable thing one would need for a day at the beach. Flip flops (thongs) hang from the rafters. Bags of ice in a cooler in the back. Refrigerator full of beer. Plastic shovels, kites, beach balls. Every condiment one would need for a barbeque at the beach. If one forgot wood they have that. They even have bait for fishing, all you have to do is ask. Oddly everything is covered in plastic. The flip-flops, mustard, ramen noodles, even the can goods. Everything looks like it was just dropped into place and cut open, but that is part of its charm. The prices are about 20% more than one would spend just up the street but that is the cost of not bring it with you from home or getting it from a near by store. The clerk was friendly as they stacked beer into the refrigerator, while answering my questions. Well worth stopping in. read more

Taking money from children, For real! My daughter went in with a friend, bought 2 small candies and 2 sodas and came back with .25 in change out of $10. Even at an overpriced store, I can't see this being more than $5. The lady that works there that is incredibly rude to children and has a reputation for ripping off kids that don't know any better. The only convenience store near the beach. On the North side of the Cement Boat at Seacliff Beach, this place will have all the things you forgot to bring on your picnic. You can park near here and avoid the parking charges for the beach, just don't ask me how to get here, because I don't know! Mom was driving. They have ice, sunscreen, drinks, and anything else you need. Expect to pay a bit more than you would elsewhere, thanks to it's convenient location. read more

Came in here a few times because we forgot a few items from home. Inside the store looks like a flea market tent, filled of items from top to bottom. You can probably find anything you need for the beach in here. They have ICE CREAM, utensils, drinks, snacks, hot dogs, ice, toys, beach wear/toys, BBQ stuff, and miscellaneous items. Only downfall is that everything is marked up from regular price, but hey, that's what we get for forgetting a few items from home right? Owner is really nice. They only accept cash and we were short like 30 cents, but she said it was okay and let us purchase the items. read more

The attitude of the Asian lady behind the counter was horrible. I watched as she kicked out a few teenage girls that were looking at beach balls and ready to purchase some snacks. The reason they were kicked out was because they were trying to take pictures of themselves in the store. On top of all this it's still cash only. Horrible rude demeaning service (even to kids)... cashier acted like we were going to steal something following us around the store telling us how much each item cost and asked were we going to buy all of that?... when we got finishing gathering all these overpriced items and went to the register... she totaled us up... and then said she only accepts cash... really! We said no thanks ...when you saw us shopping you never mentioned that you only accept cash... my son tried to put the drinks back (trying to be polite) and she grabbed them out of his hands and said leave it here... really to a little kid? I was going to try to use the ATM machine to just get it over with since we had gotten so many items- but after she grabbed the drinks from my son and was so rude to him- We left read more

She works hard and puts up with a lot of challenges keeping that store going. This week we had floods but they were open. They stock a little bit of everything and it's worth paying a tiny bit more to get it without leaving the beach. As a resident just two blocks away, I give them and the other business on the Esplanade five stars! read more

A good little run in and grab a soda and bag of chips or ice cream bar kinda place--then off for a stroll at Rio Del Mar or Seacliff beach. The place also rents boogie boards and has that last minute i forgot sand pail and shovel. I generally get the feeling that the asian lady behind the counter is similar to the soup nazi in Seinfeld..you don't want to mess with her. Rio Market serves it's purpose...snacks and soda across from the beach. read more

HORRIBLE mean lady works there always accusing people of stealing and never being nice to customers. Id be surprised to see a smile on her face. I will not got here pixies is much better and there actually really nice, located right next door across the street.Everyone that has gone here must know how horrible rude that women is always kicking people out if they take a little over 3 minutes to choose what they are getting, don't go here it will most likely frustrate you as much as me. read more
