I never thought finding a normal batting cage would be so difficult, I guess I am just old. I was looking for a place for my son and I to get some batting practice in and had all but given up until I found this place. It's in Freestone Park and isn't necessarily hidden but if you don't live in the surrounding neighborhood you may not even realize it's there - I didn't (and I was looking). We have been here several times now and never had an issue. There are several cages and speeds to choose from, you can pay with coins or rent cage for a 1/2 or full hour. From what I can see the place is properly maintained and all machines are working and fairly consistent. This place is no frills but they do have plenty of loaner bats and helmets if you need them. They also have a small selection of drinks/water/Powerade etc if you need. This has become my sons favorite weekend activity so we will keep coming back. Good way to burn some time and calories and not break the bank. It's also hardly ever crowded so better than having to stand in line somewhere or deal with crowds. This used to be our favorite batting cage. We would go there a few times a week. It's a bit old and run down, and the pitches fluctuates, but the guys that worked there could always adjust it for us right away. I think they are under new management now. We went there yesterday, in one cage the pitches were way too high, and in the other cage, the pitches were way wide beyond reach, but we were told by the guy that worked there he can't adjust it himself. Somebody comes and does it once a week? And you are supposed to get 10 balls each time, the machine ran out of balls after the 3rd one. So disappointing. If it's going to be like this, we won't be going back. read more

We had the best time for a little family date night. Reasonably priced and fun date night or great for kids.

Really liked this place! Took my daughter to hit some softballs and it was exactly what we were looking for. Staff was super helpful and friendly when I asked for assistance in setting up the machine correctly. Only drawback is that it's a 2 person job. One to feed the balls into the pitching machine, and another to hit the balls. Wish there was an option if you wanted to go there solo and work on your swing. They had a nice shop in the building as well, where I picked up a pair of batting gloves. Overall I'd highly recommend these cages. read more

Great outdoor batting cages. They have baseball 40,53 & 66 MPH and softball cages. They also have a dwtached tunnel for pitching, Tee work or front toss. You can rent the tunnel, cages or $5 gets you 20 coins. 2 coins for 10 pitches. Summer hours are 5pm-930pm M-Su. Get your rips in. read more

Overall a great cage for an adult or kiddo over about 10-11yrs old of a decent height due to the fluctuation in ball delivery. I give 4stars because of this and my 9yr old constantly having a much harder time here hitting a 40-45mph fast pitch baseball vs other adjustable indoor/outdoor cages we have visited. read more

My work held its annual picnic at Free Stone Park. I knew the Park had rides for the younger kids but I had no idea about the batting cages. My son had a blast. Equipment like Helmets and bats are provided. I believe there were 3 different speeds of pitches. You can pay per round or do $15 for a half hour which I think is the best deal because you can keep going and going. Snacks and drinks were also sold inside in case you get thirsty. Easy low maintenance fun. There is also shade for when it gets hot outside. read more

Staff is friendly and I love that they have the radio playing while you're batting. Just makes the experience that more fun. As others have stated, it is a bit older and it shows. Sometimes the machines get stuck or a really bad pitch is thrown, but the people who work there are quick to make any fix. Also, bring cash as they do not take credit card. The name pretty much suits it. A little worn down but I think it adds some character. If you're looking for a no frills batting experience, you got it. 4 stars, but only because it could use some cleaning up/updating. They have a variety of machines and the wait time is minimal (if any). The staff are friendly and helpful. We've only used the cages, but apparently you can get batting lessons, which is a plus. read more

We organized an event for our girls softball team to get some batting in at Rip City. First off, we get there and get ready to set up and the employee at the counter was already rude, literally immediately rude. Its a batting cage, buddy, don't like your job, work somewhere else!! We asked half way through our reservation if we could get two cages as we saw it would be beneficial for the girls and I was told, flat out, NO NO NO! We offered to pay $20 even for less time as we had already started and the cages had 4 others open - which remained open the whole time we were there. The employee said "no way because then others show up with tokens" - I asked if we could then get some tokens and the answer was "no because you already reserved a space and you can not split your group" - this doesn't make any sense what-so-ever!! It was slow and, as mentioned, the 4 other (operating) cages remained open. I dismissed this that the employee has a major chip on his shoulder because he was also arguing on his cell phone with someone saying "I just need to get this job over and get the hell out of here today" this while he was within earshot of young children. As he passed now and then to get the balls sorted in the back, he would light cigarettes directly in the path of the cages! I can not see how this employee has not been recommended to be replaced and how no one has already logged complaints! What a jerk! This place needs some serious management! Chandler and Mesa have way better, cleaner, nicer cages! read more
