First of all I want to say that I absolutely love that this cafe is offering clean, healthy food without the use of seed oils or other harmful additives and the emphasis they put on serving coffee without pesticides, etc. We definitely need more of this, thank you! I came in to eat and I would like to share some feedback about my experience in hopes it could be helpful, because again - absolutely love the concept and will definitely be coming here again. I ordered the steak and eggs and requested the steak be cooked medium rare, but unfortunately it came out closer to medium well. I was too hungry to bring it up to the staff at the time, though maybe I should've. The chimichurri was delicious though, and I loved the flavor and depth it also added to the eggs. I also ordered the Macadamia latte, and it was delicious with the sprinkled mac on top. But it was lukewarm when I got it, would be nice to have a piping hot drink :) And as for the ambiance, it was clean and comfortable. It was just the music - it could be a nice touch to add something like a cool "cafe vibes" playlist with an eclectic mix or even a variety of oldies or whatever suits the staff's taste. There was a repetitive jazz track playing (and I love jazz, don't get me wrong) that seemed to be the same song on loop for the hours I was there, and there were multiple times it seemed to be skipping as though it were a scratched CD, and that was pretty grating on the ears. At one point I had to throw my headphones on. So just a few things of note, but it has great potential and overall it was a lovely experience. Recommended by friends so I wanted to check it out for myself. This cafe had a great, inviting atmosphere. Busy during brunch but I managed to to find seating in the main area. There is additional seating upstairs. The coffee & tea menu was extensive with a few seasonal specials. Yes, they had pumpkin spice for the PSL lovers. They promote a low-carb and gluten-free practice in their dishes and drinks. A plus for anyone who may be health conscious or looking for keto-friendly options. Ordered at cashier; i was recommended the Roasted Mac Nut Latte. My beverage was ready in minutes and my meal available for pickup at counterside moments later, ~10minutes. I ordered the Chicken & Chaffles and it complemented well with my latte. I was shocked how great everything tasted. Chicken was juicy and my waffles were not overly sweet. Some establishments would trade the taste of their food and try to be "healthier". That was not the case here. I had hoped for a nice experience this afternoon at the Rise Cafe but the server, Lauren, spoiled this experience for me with her long stares, lack of friendliness and customer service (when asking for a napkin for me and my guest, asking for ice for my self-serve cup of water... then asking for a second scoop of ice for my approximately 4 oz cup of water)... Heaven forbid I would ask Lauren for more honey to sweeten my Latte). Lauren was the worst part of my customer experience at Rise Cafe. To add insult to injury, I had to wait for over 15 minutes at the register before Lauren would acknowledge my presence to pay my tab and magnesium purchase. At 3:05 pm I was the only person Lauren told the Cafe had closed after standing/waiting at the register since before 3:00 pm. I went to the rest room, returned, and continued to wait (to be acknowledged by Lauren) while two customers sat at their table indulging in their beverages and two other customers approached the counter / then register behind me (a total of 6 customers in the Cafe) with me being the only customer notified of your closing time). I spoke with you, politely, Jodi, only to make you aware of my experience - as the owner (because I felt it was necessary the appropriate thing to do). I am a professional woman with an MBA degree who embraces everyone. Customer service is important to me; customer experience is important to me. I have an appreciation for customer service. Took my coworker to get lunch and she's on keto and mentioned this would be the perfect place. Nuzzled in Kaimuki, it was aesthetically pleasing inside with indoor & some outdoor seating. It was a little dark inside for cafe but cute. I got the crust less quiche which was super good, fresh ingredients and flavorful. My coworker got the brisket cauliflower fried rice which was also really yummy, well flavored and a good portion. I got the roasted Mac nut latte which was AMAZING, with coconut flakes & roasted Mac nuts.. different but so delicious. I can't remember which coffee my coworker got but she liked hers too. Finally got to try this hot new cafe in Kaimuki! Good location and you can enter from the public lot in the back as well! Cute interior and complimentary wifi was a plus! Started off with their popular roasted mac nut latte with coconut milk and enjoyed it! As for the food, we got the chimichurri steak and eggs, chicken and chaffles and crustless quiche. Went out and about on an early morning and we decided to try this place out. Highly recommended! The food was delicious, hearty and healthy! The layout and cleanliness of the this cafe was great. I loved the fact that it was a little busy, but they had an upstairs area to enjoy your food, as well, where barely anyone was. You do have to go up a flight of stairs, but just let them know and they will bring your food to you! How awesome is that?! Now, back to the food. Wife had the brisket and bacon infused fried rice...which I tried and was delish. I'm a steak and eggs guy and that's what I got and they cooked the steak to perfection. Oh yea...coffee! Thank god for Yelp. Would have never stumbled upon this health focused cafe otherwise and I am so estatic to have an establishment that puts healthy eating as a priority. Considering there are at least a dozen coffee shops in the Waialae area, Rise Cafe definitely stands out from the rest. First of all, this is the only coffee shop that offers actual food. I get it, the concept is geared towards Keto and clean eating, but the food actually tastes so good. The fried chicken is on point, and the owner said they use only olive oil. I work remotely and am always trying to find new coffee shops with the best coffee and vibe. I tried rise cafe for the first time today, and safe to say this is my new favorite spot. I had no idea what I was getting into when I first showed up. I'm your usual plant-based milk drinker, so it was to my surprise that they don't offer that here! The barista explained to me their reasonings for not offering plant based milks and it seemed legit to me. I was weary at first because I realized I had come to a health conscious coffee shop! Even with the whole milk and natural sweetener that I am not used to with my coffees, it was actually one of the best coffees I've had in a while. That says a lot considering I drink coffee every day. I was listening to some of Dr. Jodi's conversations with other customers regarding the science behind her drinks and cafe, and I was pleased to see that she actually cares about her customers health and overall experience at Rise Cafe. I got the macadamia nut latte which had lots of actual bits of macadamia nut is the drink. We were greeted by other staff (who are Dr. Jodi's family). Everyone is super friendly. Later, I went back to get the Chicken and Chaffles for lunch. It was hot and very tasty (better than most Mochiko chicken I've had) and the "chaffles" which are low carb were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, very similar to Belgian waffles. 2/21: The place was cute and seemed like a fun spot to try something new. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back due to the lack of service. When we walked in, there were only two baristas working the coffee bar, which seemed manageable. We placed our orders without any issues. My coffee came out first, then my friend's food but we ended up waiting 30 minutes for my food and even longer for her coffee. The two baristas (one tall with pink hair and one shorter with dark hair) were talking while there were no customers in line. When my friend politely got up to ask about her coffee, they saw her but ignored her. She waited over 5 minutes before she could even say, "I ordered my coffee a while ago." The barista finally got her attention and took the order. We then waited another 15 minutes for that single coffee. When the coffee was ready, one barista told the other, "Just tell her when you give it to her." When it was delivered, nothing was said. No explanation or apology for the delay. To top it off, my steak was overcooked, cold, and tough. I preferred medium. We were disappointed with the overall experience. It had potential, but the lack of attentiveness and accountability made it frustrating enough that we won't be returning. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. I ordered a matcha latte with coconut milk because apparently, coconut milk is the only milk alternative Rise Café offers. Why? According to them, "every other milk alternative has too much sugar." Seriously? That's the most ridiculous excuse I've ever heard. And that coconut milk? It tasted like a coconut that's been rotting on the floor for days, scraped up, and dumped straight into my drink. To make it worse, there was no matcha flavor at all just a faint, sour aftertaste that made me question my life choices. Also, whose brilliant idea was it to put a giant display by the cash register showing how much sugar is in the foods people eat? It's bizarre, unethical, and downright problematic. Nobody wants to be shamed while buying a coffee. It's invasive, preachy, and completely out of touch with what a welcoming café experience should be. Rise Café feels like a place that's trying too hard to be "woke" about health while completely failing at the basics: making a drink that doesn't taste like garbage and respecting its customers. This is a charming little cafe tucked away in the corner of the Kaimuki shopping center on 11th Ave. with lots of parking in the attached lot. The food is very tasty and healthy for you, too! The staff is very friendly and patiently answers any questions you have about the menu. You feel very welcome and relaxed once you enter. I've tried the brisket fried rice and steak and eggs, which are both outstanding. My favorite drinks are the matcha and hojicha lattes. Both are fantastic!
